Maya had been a firefighter for six months.
It was March.
She worked very hard and did not hesitate to work extra shifts.

She wasn't seeing Charlotte anymore. She hadn't liked her insistence the last time they had seen each other.
That had taught her a lesson; she didn't sleep with the same person twice. She wasn't the type to sleep with everyone. But every now and then she needed to.

Carina was halfway through her school year in sexology. She was spending a little less time in Seattle. The seven-hour weekend drive was wearing her down. She figured she could stay in Portland and come back in June when she finished school.

It was April and she had a few days for Easter. So she was back home.
She had gone to a small bakery to bring back cakes for Sam, Andrea and herself.

- "Carina?"

That voice sounded familiar. Familiar but distant.
She turned around.

- "Vic? Oh my God, what are you doing here?"

-"I live here! With Lucas. It's been so long since I've heard from you, I'm sorry."

- "the phone works both ways. I apologize too, I could have, should have, checked in with you."

- "what about you?"

- "I came to see my brother and his wife, they live here. I live in Portland. I'm studying psychology."

- "Oh yes, that's right! And it's going well?"

- "in June I will graduate and then I will have to settle down somewhere"

- "in Portland?"

- "or here. I don't know. What about you then studying to be a firefighter?"

- "over! We're both at Station 19. Since September" she was about to continue her sentence but she stopped herself.

- "I come by often, we should get together, the three of us, with Lucas"

- "it will definitely please him, it will please us"

- "do you still have the same number?"

- "always" she said with a smile.

- "It was a pleasure to run into you! See you soon!"

- "very quickly!"

Vic felt bad, did she have to hide it from Maya. She was terrible at keeping secrets. And Lucas how was he going to take it. He's a very serious person, he would know how to keep a secret, but she was a goofball.

She arrived at the station with her box of pastries.

- "Damn Hughes you took 10 years!" Said Maya

- "I ran into..."

- "you ran into...? Let me guess, you ran into Lucas and took advantage of it."

- "yes, that's it! ... You know me so well!" She said before thinking 'I'll have to warn Lucas'.

---

- "I can't believe how small the world is!"

- "why?" Andrea asked.

- "I just ran into Vic, a girl I knew in Arizona."

- " Vic of Vic and Lucas?"

- "yes, that's it! I suggested we meet up sometime."

Carina went to her room to change into a more comfortable outfit.

- "That's fucked up..." he whispered to his wife.
