Tuesday morning came quickly. The two young women had their plane at noon to fly from Seattle to LA.

Maya had gone straight home to Carina. Her bag had been in the car since the day before and she had showered at the barracks.

They had arrived quickly at the airport and were now waiting to board.
It was so nice to fly together and not one flying and the other staying behind.

When they were finally able to board, they were pleasantly surprised to see that the plane was barely a third full.

So they could comfortably put themselves in the seats and put them down, to take a little nap in love. The flight from Seattle to Los Angeles was going to take two and a half hours.

By the time they got to the base, they had arrived at Maya's parents' house at 3:30. They had picked up a rental car beforehand, a convertible.

Maya was happy, both cars were in front of the house. This meant that her parents were both home.

They entered the house without making a sound. Maya was the first to enter the kitchen.

- "Mom, Dad" she said with a radiant smile and came to hug them.

They exchanged a few words with each other, including whether, the three of them were okay.

- "I, I didn't come alone, I hope you don't mind"

-"Of course not, my dear," said Katherine.

- "friend or girlfriend?" Lane asked

Maya had blushed at this question.

- "see! I should have bet! I kept telling your dad that I thought you were different on the phone for weeks and that I was sure you were seeing someone" before whispering so that the person waiting to make her entrance wouldn't hear "I'd even say you were in love", she preferred to say it softly in case that person and Maya hadn't said it yet.

Maya's face could only betray her.

-"I'm glad, my daughter. You've been sad for too long. You know you will always love... Your childhood sweetheart. But it's good that you have found someone. I'm happy for you"
she said still whispering.

- "Well, can I get her to come? Otherwise she'll think I've forgotten her".

- "yes yes of course Kiddo, excuse your mother she is a chatterbox"

She went to the entrance and extended her arm to the person hidden behind the wall.

- "come sweetheart" 'sweetheart' she wanted to keep the suspense until the end

She took her companion's hand and pulled her towards her.
As soon as her parents saw Carina at the end of Maya's hand, their reaction was clear.

Katherine dropped the whisk and the bowl in her hands, shouted Carina's name with joy, and immediately went around the block to hug her.
She had tears in her eyes.

- "oohh my darling, we missed you so much"

- "I missed you both too"

Maya's father had followed in his wife's footsteps and was waiting his turn to hug Carina, too. He was also very moved. And the two girls even more so.

- "So you're giving her back to me?" Maya asked.

-"That hasn't changed," laughed Katherine.

- "it sounds like you're happier to see Carina than me."

- "Kiddo we haven't seen Carina in years, the phone doesn't count. We saw you after your birthday. By the way, congratulations in person Lieutenant!"

- "how... And you didn't give us anything... Since..."
