The third Rendez-vous

The two young women had not seen each other for the next two days. Maya had done the Wednesday shift and followed it up with the Thursday shift, fortunately both days had been rather quiet or she would have been more than tired. It was rare to do two shifts in a row but it was a possibility, in these cases the cars were not fixed to give everyone time to sleep a little.

Thanks to the messages they had exchanged during those two days, Friday had come quickly. Maya finished at 9 a.m. and took the opportunity to sleep until 3 p.m. and get ready. Carina would meet her at her house.

She had warned her to dress normally, but to bring an outfit to change into. On her side she had already prepared everything. As Maya had not specified what type of outfit, she had taken several of different styles.

At 4pm, Carina was already there, to the delight of both young women.

She rang the intercom and without asking for confirmation Maya opened the door downstairs and the door to her house.

Carina entered the apartment wearing an ecru short-sleeved blouse with a loose collar, black pants and a matching black blazer. Maya was wearing jeans, a denim jacket of the same color and a black hooded t-shirt.

-"I missed you," said Maya.

-"You too, so much," she replied, coming to kiss her

-"I told you to dress normally."

-"I am dressed normally".

- "we're going to walk a little bit"

- "and?"

- "won't your feet hurt?"

- "unless you want me to climb another volcano or the Arizona desert it should be fine"

- "ok, let's go then"

Maya had taken Carina to some of her favorite places in Seattle, the Seattle Center, the pedestrian mall with the museums, and the streets of Seattle to see the Gum Wall. When daylight began to fall they were back at Pike Place Market heading for the Seattle Ferris wheel.

-"Are we going there?" asked Carina excitedly.

-"Yes."

They got on the Ferris wheel just in time. Maya slipped a banknote to the young man who was in charge of starting the Ferris wheel. When their cabin stopped at the top, Carina looked at Maya with a big smile: "Did you do that?"

- "that what?"

- "did you pay the guy downstairs to stop us upstairs for the sunset?"

-"non lo so" [I don't know] she answered with a smile.

They watched the sunset hand in hand.

- "On Sunday, there's a baseball game between several stations in town, would you come?"

- "see you playing baseball?"

-"Yes."

-" You have an outfit and everything?" she said with a huge smile

-"Yes."

- "so yeah, I wouldn't want to miss that"

- "there's just one little, tiny detail"

- "what is it?"

- "it's reserved for firefighters' families, so I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend?"

-"I don't know, it's a big commitment, we could just pretend for the day" seeing Maya's face decompose she laughed "Bambina, of course I want to be your girlfriend, did you really think I was going to say no, again? I had a hard time saying it last time"
