Maya and Andrea had never met in Seattle.
The blonde lived in South Seattle near Rainier Beach, close to Station 19, and the Italian lived further north near Olympics Hills. They didn't hang out in the same places or with the same people. And Maya made sure that never happened.

It was August and Carina had been a sexologist for a month and a half. She was doing freelance consultations several times a week at Grey+Sloan Memorial. She was doing psychology consultations but also sexology. People could make appointments with her but she could also be contacted by doctors for consultations of people hospitalized for various reasons.

One of the doctors had called on her for a young man, David, to whom she had given advice on masturbation, he had broken his wrist.

Today was Maya's birthday. Carina had to restrain herself as she had done for years from sending her a message. She didn't even know if the blonde still had the same number.

She was still feeling a little ill on August 26. So she didn't make any appointments and stayed in her room. Like every year she had looked at pictures and videos of Maya.

Why did she still have to think about her after almost four years? Maybe because she hadn't heard from Maya. She had just stopped writing to her, she had just disappeared.

She didn't necessarily cry when she thought of Maya anymore, but she still had a lump in her stomach and a twinge of sadness.
Did she still love her? Of course she could never forget her. She had never felt this way about anyone. Maya had been the kind of love you only get once in a lifetime. It was the real one, the big one, the only one. But sometimes people don't end up with their great love and obviously she was part of that population.

So yes, she was still watching her videos, videos that were 7 years old for some. Videos of a baby Maya. And photos, thousands of photos. Thousands of memories. She had never been on a trip with another person. She had gone to London, to India or to other places but always alone.

Maya had applied to be a lieutenant. She would have the answer soon. But tonight was her birthday and to avoid thinking about the only person she wanted to spend it with, she had proposed to the group to go to Joe's for a drink.

- "so are you bringing anyone home tonight?" Herrera asked.

- "no never on my birthday, never would I bring someone back!"

Since the time they had known each other, Andy had never paid attention. Vic added:

- "never on July 17, August 26 and September 25!" Before getting up "it's on me."

This reflection had irritated Maya a little.

- "I'll come with you," she said. "What was that?"

-"Maya, you left her... You broke her heart. Get over it or contact her."

- "I can't."

- "about what? Contact her or move on?"

- "both"

- "What if tomorrow she came to live here? What if she comes to see her brother and you run into her?"

- "I avoid north Seattle and then it's big. There are over 750 thousand people in Seattle, what is the likelihood that I will run into her?"

- "I would say 1 in 750,000!"

-"I wasn't speaking literally. But the truth is, Andrea's been living here for a little over a year and I haven't run into him. So even if she comes to see him. I think I'll manage not to run into her."
