"Nang". I sighed and gazed at my friend who was eating a bag of Boy Bawang.

"Ang ingay ng bibig mo. Di ko marinig yung kausap ko dito".

MJ chuckled and sat down beside me on the sofa.

"Hi—yes, confirm ko lang po Ms. Bri tomorrow ha. So everything is set at the Whisky Bar? — Yes, po. Thank you so much for your assistance — see you rin po tomorrow!"

Sigh.

I looked at manang MJ beside me and smiled.

"The Peak. Sosyal".

"Mama J said mas kakasya tayo roon than sa Raging Bull. Saka, para may free entertainment na sa music lounge". I giggled.

"Ikaw talaga, yun talaga yung pakay mo, ano? The freebies".

"Siyempre. Additional na gastos pa kaya kung after sa restaurant, didiretso pa sa bar or club. At least at The Peak, everything is there na. Masarap pa yung food — gagastos nalang nga ako, eh dapat yung sulit na. Hindi ko naman sa puno kinukuha yung pera ko. Saka, nang —- buti sana kung may mayaman ako na jowa". We both laughed. That was so silly of me.

"Bakit kasi hindi ka kumuha nga ng mayaman? Nag tiis ka pa sa call boy before".

"Hoy, grabe ka ha! Hindi naman ako mukhang pera, nang — saka, contented naman ako sa kung anong mayroon ako ngayon. Hindi ko naman kailangan manghingi, wala rin naman akong masyadong luho".

"Hmm—-", MJ rested her head on her hand and studied me.

"Bakit?" I snickered.

"Wala lang. Contented ka ba talaga?"

Napaisip ako for a while. Was I? I felt like I had most that I need. I'd like to think that if there's anything good that comes my way, it's a bonus already. I have a nice abode, car, career, good friends — "

"Pati love life mo, contented ka na?"

I looked at Tobi and Dolce who were playing with a toy bone on the floor.

"Okay naman ako nang ng ganito. Walang problema". I thought about Amanda bigla. "Pero — maybe if may dumating sa buhay ko uli, bonus na talaga yun. I'm very thankful for my life right now. Hindi na ako nag eexpect. I just pray na kung sino man yung ibigay sa akin ni God, if mayroon man, then I'll be happy to embrace that person with open arms".

"—-and legs! Charot! Ang haliparot".

"Hoy, ha!"

We cracked up na parang siraulo sa kakatawa. Ewan ko ba bakit laging nauuwi sa kabastusan mga usapan namin when I didn't even plan for it to turn that way.

"Joke lang, langga"

"So —-", my friend slapped my thigh lightly. "Amanda's here". She grinned. "Did you invite her tomorrow sa party?"

I blushed a bit. I think it's pretty obvious that I'm delighted that Amanda's in the country. Even if hindi kami, I know I would want for her to visit and see the Philippines like how I see it — its beauty, the people, the food — I want to immerse her into the culture, my culture.
