╚══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╝It was another typical day at California Institute of Technology.
I was currently sat down in the back of the class, as I listened to Mila answer yet another stupid question my teacher had asked.
"And that was what caused the French Revolution" She stated with a smile on her face.
"Correct as always Mila. Well done" Ms. Roberts smiled while everyone else in the class rolled their eyes and groaned.
She continued with the lecture while I turned over to Mila.
"You know everyone in this class hates you right?" I whispered.
"I really couldn't care less about what they think" She said as she rolled her eyes. "Now shush, I have to listen."
She turned back to Ms. Roberts as she placed her elbow on the table, resting her head in her palm.
She only did that when she was super focused so I knew there would be no point in trying to talk to her again.
I sighed as I turned my attention back to Ms. Roberts.
I didn't blame our course mates though. Mila was quite smart and by that, I mean that she was the smartest girl on the entire campus.
At just 19, she had won countless awards, was currently enrolled at one of the top universities in L.A- on a scholarship, if I might add - and she was getting perfect grades.
How did I know all this?
Well, the smartest girl in the entire school happened to be best friends with the quiet girl who no one really acknowledged.
Yeah, Mila and I were best friends, and I was incredibly grateful to have her in my life.
When I say I was the quiet girl, I don't mean the cliché girls you find in stories who just sit there waiting to be bullied by everyone and anyone.
No. I mean I just didn't like people. Well, I didn't like most of them anyways.
Believe me when I say a lot of people tried to talk to me. From inviting me to parties, to sitting with them at lunch, even buying me presents (why? I don't know myself) but I just didn't want to associate with anyone.
To me, everyone was fake. Sure, in school they would act all nice and friendly, trying to win you over with acts of kindness, but they were only doing that for their own personal gain.
Attempting to gain your trust so they could use you for their own selfish wishes. However, once you need them for something, they vanish.
Disappearing from your life like they were never even there in the first place.
Talking from my countless experiences with fake friends back in high school, I decided that it was best for me to just stick with someone I already knew and trusted.
Mila had decided that she wanted to become CEO of one of the multiple billion dollar business companies when she got older which was why she was currently studying Economics at Caltech.
Most of her courses consisted of finance, marketing, accounting, economics and entrepreneurship which were mostly evening courses with the exception of the social studies course we were currently in.
When I had asked her why she decided to take Social Studies - even though it has absolutely nothing to do with her career path - she told me it was simply because she wanted to learn more about California's past.
