I stepped into the graveyard, sectioned off from other areas and taking up a small area of land in comparison to others. There only appeared to be five gravestones, all of which contained the names of past tallests.
It went from Tallest Duan, Tallest Frayda, Tallest Gienster, Tallest Miyuki, and Tallest Spork. I hadn't heard of any of these tallests except Miyuki. It was possible that she had most impact on the armada but the fact that no other tallest had been mentioned to me felt strange.
But not as strange as the physical tombstones themselves.
On each stone was a PAK, presumably being the ones which stored their own consciousness and personalities. I had presumed that the Paks would be buried along with the Irkens who wore them, but it seems there was more to irken death than previously pressumed.
I stepped towards the tomb belonging to Miyuki, analysing her PAK, her information. Everything.
I wasn't really that interested in analysing the contents of the graveyard at all. I was mostly just procrastinating, unprepared for this and wishing purple and red were here to speak, or at least be with me for moral support.
I read the content underneath her name, pulling out the irken translator that Jen had given me.
"Tallest Miyuki,
Proud leader of the empire whome carried Irk on her shoulders and brought it to its full potential and glory.
May she rest in peace as one of Irks greatest."
As I scanned the content, my mind began to drift.
She was considered one of Irks greatest, which explained why she was brought up so often. But what confused me was the lack of detail.
Every other tallests tomb had specific details of what they accomplished and how admirable they were. Here, it praises Miyuki but does not specify her achievements.
Even Spork, a tallest who died on his first day, received praise despite not influencing the armada at any point during his short-lived role.
Something was wrong.
And Miyuki seemed to be one of the biggest mysteries in this whole predicament.
I took a moment to stare at her PAK, as if it held all the answers to my questions. As if she was still here.
"Just what do you know, Miyuki?" I asked, knowing it would all be in vain. Aware that asking was pointless.
Still, I asked as it was all I could do.
I waited for some kind of sign. An indication. Anything.
I just wanted a response.
But when I received none, I was prepared to turn on my heel and leave.
Key-word here is was.
Before I could even put a foot forward, Miyukis dim PAK had begun to glow. The white brightened and the blue spots lit up like sapphires in a darkened room.
Furthermore, the PAK reacted again by opening a slot in the centre and releasing a small mechanical arm. The arm held itself high before pointing downwards and flicking on a ray of blue light.
The gentle glow faded out until finally the image of a tall, beautiful irken was standing ahead of me.
She had closed her eyes, a humble expression delicately painted on her face. The female wore similar attire to Red and Purples usual uniform, holding her arms in front of herself in a formal manner. Her antennae were curled at the ends and each of her features were soft and lacked any strain.
