"So what now?" Muttered Red, glancing across at Purple and I as we all sat around a mid sized table.
I hadn't said anything about my dream to either of them, hoping it wouldn't be as important as it seemed.
Besides, I didn't need them worrying over something that might not even matter. For all we know, that dream was my subconscious telling me to be careful in our impossible situation.
"I don't know anything about this side of the galaxy, so I have no input here..." I trailed off, glancing toward the cockpit.
The autopilot was active, gently easing the path of the ship to Red-knows-where. Though there wasn't exactly a destination in mind when he inserted it. He just insisted that we had to keep moving.
It made sense. But remaining in a ship this long was becoming exhausting. I was running out of things to do. I had no ideas, and I was anxious. It wasn't a good combination.
Still, I knew we couldn't really stop for too long. The control brains could still track me. They also had a bounty on my head, and it was unclear whether or not they had fixed their hyperdrive yet.
"Well..." began Purple, shuffling forward and picking at the straw in his drink. "I might know someone who could help us out but..."
He looks uncertain about what he wanted to say, chewing the inside of his cheek slowly. His fellow irken raised an invisible brow in response.
"But?"
"But it's dangerous."
His answer was quick, short, to the point. It was as simple as can be.
"Dangerous, how?" I pressed with scepticism, careful with both my words and my tone.
Purple froze again, glancing between Red and myself awkwardly. He'd be sweating beads if he could.
"Well, I'm owed a favour from an old friend. Xe are residing on an old planet called Ikregon, which is dangerous because it's a planet for space pirates and outlaws."
Even Red seemed surprised at this information, turning to me with a look that said 'is he serious?!'.
Purple....friends with an outlaw? What else didn't I know about these two!?
That wasn't my only question, of course. I had many. But I could only stare in silence for a moment as the information began to slowly sink in. It had never occurred to me that either ex tallest could make a connection outside of Irk, as they always seemed so closed in and isolated from danger when in that large control room.
So, did Purple know this person before he became tallest? And did he know Red at the time?
All the questions were flooding in, and I couldn't believe they had never crossed my mind before. Who had I been spending time with during the last couple of months!? How much did I really know about them?
"How do you know we can trust xem?" Red questioned, finally pulling me out of the tsunami of thoughts.
"Trust me, Tawn and I go way back. Xe will help us, I'm certain." He reassured, smiling at Red and placing his hand on my shoulder.
"Help us how, exactly?" I finally mustered out, tilting my head in his direction.
"Xe have connections with some pretty advanced scientists. Xe may be able to help us get that tracker out of your system."
My eyes widened for a moment, becoming windows for hope and suprise. It was the only thing my mind was set on once it had been said.
"Can we go now?" I inquired, looking toward Red for permission and then glancing back at Purple, who was now smiling.
