(This is probs my only update this week as I've got exams coming up. Hope you like it. Thank you all for being so patient😘❤)

I took a deep breath, cautiously eying the closed doors ahead of me.

I had managed to get out of the control room in a less than elegant manner. I had stumbled out quickly and managed to swiftly avoid further anger from the tallest.

Both leaders scowled at my smaller form, eagerly pointing to the door and prompting me to shoot towards it.

As I reflected on the previous events, a voice I hadn't heard in ages released a stifled laugh at my dismay.

"You really cant stay out of trouble, can you?" Questioned the bemused Spunk, closing a silver-blue eye and clutching his stomach with a snigger.

My response to the question came far faster than the initial reaction of seeing him there at all.

"I'm not always in trouble! You just show up at the worst times!" I concluded, folding my arms over my chest.

The irkens laughter didnt die down much. He just continued sniggering and smirking at my unbelievable statement.

It felt like an eternity before he ceased the mockery and finally started gaining his composure back.

His posture straightened, making him appear taller. It appears he had a growth spurt in the time we were separated, as his form was now reaching just above my shoulder. I made sure to point this out, learning things I didnt expect to hear.

"After my height increased, I got a promotion. Because of that, I've had little to no time to adjust and have been very busy. It's actually why I havent come to see you for a while." He confessed, standing on his toes to emphasise his point.

I nodded along, still completely shocked at the irken before me.

His confidence had certainly been boosted since the promotion. It was clear in the way he carried himself, proudly puffing out his chest with both fists at his sides, his expression remaining focused and unwavering, and the antennae on his head had become high and prominent.

This Spunk was ready for anything and was clearly happier.

I hope this Spunk is here to stay.

"So being taller than everyone else just boosts your status? Why?" I questioned, raising a brow and tilting my head towards the taller Spunk as we walked down the corridors.

The alien hummed in thought for a moment before nodding to himself and speaking.

"Well...its just an easier system. I believe that's why it's set up this way. It's not like it'd be very easy to keep track of every irkens achievements anyway. At least you can spot a tall irken in a crowd, right?"

I couldnt agree. Irkens could work hard all their lives and not get anywhere, just because they arent as tall as other irkens. Bob was an irken in that situation. One bet changed his life, and he had no right to refuse it just because he was smaller than the rest. No one should live life through a rigged system like that.

"That's not right..." I murmered, earning Spunks full attention. "Being tall is an uncontrollable feat. Why should an irken work hard if their height doesnt increase. Theres no equality or fairness. It's just a rigged system to keep the same Irkens at the top."

The silver-eyed irken nodded in agreement, grimacing as he did so.

"Yeah... I never wouldve gotten anywhere without my growth spurt. All my efforts would have been in vain otherwise." He started, antenna flattening against his head and his gaze lowering. "But that's the system...and I was lucky enough to grow taller" he sighed, seeming disappointed in the harsh reality of Irk.
