(Another short chapter. Hope you guys are enjoying the story So far.
Let me know if you have any thoughts or theories about the control brains, I would love to read them ^^)
3rd person POV
The control brains were angry.
You wouldn't be able to tell from their appearance alone, wild and uncontrollable flickering of their many eyes, screaming the probability of a silent debate. There's trouble in the air, you can smell it.
You can feel it.
But you can't hear it.
Not even in Mainbrains voice.
"Summon them." The machine spoke, gesturing to its fellow control brains and holding it's glow for a brief moment.
Thembrain had no response besides pushing a button, triggering a domino effect within the room. Energy was released into a pipe, pumping all around the room until it reached a large device.
The device itself was crafted with four pods, each large enough to hold a wardrobe. Within them was a spherical platform, which descended downwards upon the energy arriving.
"The Traitors went to Gorvastous, there is no doubt that the human is with them." Stated mainbrain as he watched the pods react.
"I knew we should've installed that PAK sooner. They would be ours so quickly." Thembrain spat with disdain and anger in their tone.
The three held another silent conversation, their lights flickering much slower this time. It didn't last long.
"The human will learn." Spoke fembrain, attempting to calm her fellow control brains and taking notice of the reacsending platforms.
"The human will learn" repeated thembrain, almost muttering in contemplation.
The platforms finally finished ascending, bringing four different mechanical figures into the conversation.
Each one had a humanoid body, all large and buff by comparison. They had stiff faces, all reminiscent of cliche Viking helmets, and long spine tails with blades on the ends. They stood on hind legs and had their clawed feet dug into the metal platforms with no effort.
Mainbrains focus was now entirely on these creatures, a certain cruelty in what he was about to do.
"The human is on Gorvastous. Find them and bring them back here. Kill the traitors if you have to, but the human remains alive." He commanded.
The robotic creatures saluted with no hesitation, immediatley standing to attention before all running across the massive in perfect unison. The four had rushed to the other side of the ship in a matter of minutes, not a single one lagging behind or straying from the perfection of their synchronized movement.
Once at the end of the ship, they opened the airlock and jumped out. This triggered their rockets, emerging from their backs and allowing them to take off through space on a course for Gorvastous, planet of the deceased.
The control brains watched their soldiers leave through the nearest window, a darker seriousness suddenly clouding the air.
"They don't stand a chance." Claimed fembrain, a hushed raspiness highlighting her sadistic tendencies as she observed mainbrains restless flickers.
Mainbrain flickered a couple of times more until he was satisfied with his own thoughts and began to linger on the situation at hand.
"Yes. But they have escaped us before and it's undeniable that they are worthy. Do not underestimate our opponents, or it shall be your downfall."
Thembrain could feel mockery and a lack of respect from their fellow control Brian, opting to growl in frustration.
"Why must we use them!? They are the exact opposite of what we stand for!" They yelled, their mechanical arms punching the floor aggressively.
"They have a way with words. Irkens listen to them." Responded the leader, remaining calm despite thembrains attitude, "we need someone like that. Besides, making batches of those experimental substances take too long. We've been waiting long enough. We need a new subject."
Thembrain remained quiet at this, knowing the validity of their leaders words. It's true, the control brains needed a new subject and the human fit the category of what they had been searching for.
Passionate, persuasive, water-resistant. That was the human. And they needed those traits.
They needed that human.
Mainbrain wanted that human.
"With our soldiers on their way to Gorvastous and the rest of the universe on the hunt, we should have the human by the end of the week." Spoke fembrain in certainty, amusement lacing her tone.
Thembrain couldn't be sure of that. Like mainbrain said, the human was persuasive.
"The human must learn." Mainbrain spoke once again.
"The human will learn" fembrain responded, so sure of her words.
"The human will learn." All three finished in synchronized agreement.
