(Whoa hey everyone! You guys good?
So, I'm not dead, first of all. Just really bad with schedules. And I had a bit of writers block. This chapter might be a little choppy cause I'm getting back into the swing of things. Also, last chapter was painful. I'm so sorry for the abomination that was chapter 42 because maannnn....that was awful.
Anyway, I'm back, here's a new chapter and I hope you enjoy. I do reference a few outside sources in this chapter, including a few comments some of you guys may have left. I see you 😏❤
Anyway, Enjoy!! ^^)
Red had left the room some time ago, heeding my advice to go and apologise to Purple and be honest about his lingering frustrations. He seemed to be feeling a little more relaxed around me, though he clearly still had his reservations.
To be fair, I was still warming up to him as well. It wasn't that long ago when we were butting heads or I was being directly threatened by both tallest. I only started getting a little comfortable around purple when he became a little more honest with me but that didn't make me trust him immediatley.
I was feeling very alone. I needed some contact and I didn't care who from.
Still, I was aware of how unsafe I was feeling in the middle of space, my only company being the aliens who once hated my guts and threatened my life. It was bazaar, now that I thought about it, being stuck in this situation with aliens who tolerated me whilst my friends were nowhere to be found.
I tried not to dwell on the thought for too long, knowing that if I kept thinking about how wrong everything felt I may just fall into a spiral of regret and goodness knows I didn't need the stress.
Instead I just attempted to distract myself with something else, pulling out the species requirement chamber and switching it on. There was a brief light and a gentle sound was released.
Music.
Earth music began to play, output by a small device the chamber had created. It resembled a small round mp3 player with a tiny hologram above it in different shades of pink. The hologram had a few different buttons, play, skip, back, shuffle and loop. I decided to just let the music play as it was, humming along to a familiar tune and smiling at the melody. So much tension left my body once the lyrics began to settle in, allowing me to be completely absorbed in a playlist of music that I loved.
The chamber really could do anything, couldn't it.
"What is that sound?"
A voice broke me out of my musical trance, slightly annoying me.
Purple entered the room, looking around in attempts to find the source.
"Music" I stated dryly, eyes half lidded as I watched him move closer.
"This is music?" He seemed very lost.
"What? Does Irk not have music?"
Purple approached the device beside me, fiddling with the settings and finding a different set of songs.
"We do. It's just....different." he said, abruptly stopping the music.
Again, a little annoying, but I was generally intrigued to hear irken music.
Until it started, of course.
"Gah! Is there another, less earbleeding song you could put on!?!!?"
The sound was loud, painful, and hard to swallow. It was like listening to pots and pans being thrown together in the middle of a battlefield mixed against nails on a chalkboard and screams of bloody murder.
