(Short chapterrrr)

3rd Person POV

The control brains grew impatient, especially Thembrain. The aggressive machine becoming restless and irritable upon awaiting for the capture of their experiment. Now there had been an even more frustrating halt in their plans.

"The human got away, again!" They spoke harshly, a tense atmosphere filling the air between themselves and main brain.

"We have to be patient" the leader had responded without much interest or reaction to their outburst.

"No, you have to come in with a better idea! I told you over and over that they were trouble! And now they're halfway across the universe, which we can't get to as quick because of those incompetent traitors!!"

Thembrain growled in annoyance, even as the robotic group of bounty hunters returned to the docking area. Each one stood perfectly still, awaiting further orders.

Mainbrain chose not to listen to thembrains objections and arguing, instead turning to fembrain to explore further options.

"We must replace that hyperdrive mechanism. We won't be able to pursue the human if we don't and we need to stay in range of the hunters or we won't be able to control them."

Fembrain silently agreed, eyes flickering before she made a summoning. A new figure walking through the door.

A tall figure.

They stood straight as a pencil, keeping their composure strong as they saluted.

"Greetings, My Tallest" Said mainbrain, looking on the new leader of irk with a good feeling.

"Good evening, mighty control brains. You summoned me?"

The respective tallest was an irken the control brains had an eye on for some time. Slightly shorter than the former tallests but far more competent in their abilities.

Their clothes consisted of a tallest uniform, coloured a pale pink with darker accents. They had long antennae, curled at the ends and large pale pink eyes with a scar passing through their right eye. Furthermore, the tallests right arm was gone, replaced by a mechanical prosthetic instead.

"Yes, we came to discuss your route and a small assignment for you, my tallest." Explained mainbrain, continuing.

"No need for that formal stuff, you can just call me Kip!" They exclaimed chipperly, pausing when they began to feel slightly judged.

"You will be referred to as tallest." He responded harshly.

It made a thick cloud of uncertainty and further tension rise in the room, the new tallest clearly uncomfortable and now feeling awkward.

They only nodded, swallowing hard, and allowing the control brain to continue.

"We need you to follow this route, and restore the hyperdrive key. It is imperative that it is fixed as quickly as possible" the control brain continued, a hologram appearing ahead and showing a route to the next location.

Kip thought for a moment, bringing a finger to their lips in confusion. When they were summoned and assigned as the new tallest, there was no clarification as to how or why. They were sure that the rest of the armada didn't even know that there was a new tallest yet.

Still, they were too anxious to ask about it. And even more anxious to know why the previous tallests hadn't already handled the hyperdrive

"I...understand.." they frowned, bowing their head slowly.

Once dismissed, Kip was quick to exit clearly overwhelmed by the presence of the control brains and struggling against all of their attempts not to collapse.

They werent expecting such a threatening aura.

As for the control brains, they were still in a heated debate, the tension thicker than jelly and as bitter as black coffee.

Thembrain still held back a growl, their leaking arm curled beneath them and out of sight, still tinted blue from the escape of their targets. They were eager to settle the score but even they werent so desperate as to chase them halfway across the universe.

It seemed far easier to find a new subject, but Mainbrain was persistent.

"I just don't see the point in waiting around when we could just make another serum and test it on something less....stubborn.." they gritted out, shrinking back slightly as mainbrain approached.

The leader stayed silent and idle for a short while, eyes flickering though more in contemplation than conversation. The large machine held his limb towards thembrain without a word, placing it on one of their eyes.

"You've been more outspoken, as of late, Spree." He began, applying pressure against their eye, "You'd do well to remember your place"

Cracks began to appear on the tinted glass of the eye, causing them to uncontrollably flicker in pain and sturggle to hold back any audible wince or sign of bother.

They hated feeling out of control.

But the action certainly shut them up.

"Prepare yourself for the journey. We're going after the human" mainbrain continued, finally pulling his mechanical limbs away from the, now cracking, eye of thembrain and exiting the room without an ounce of hesitation.

Fembrain followed silently, not at all phased by the previous scenario. Just silent and composed.

Once left alone, a sigh left their vocal cords.

"Great... Just what I need. Another repair job." They muttered, tone bitter and cold.
