Connor and Ava were walking out of the ED together, Ava was happy that they could do this and not have it questioned, she thought back to all the hoops that they jumped through to stop any suspicion when they we're dating; life was simpler like this.

"Hey Ava, can I talk to you?" Natalie stopped her.
"Yeah, sure" she turned to Connor, "I'll see you later"
Connor headed out to the car and pulled on his seatbelt. He turned on the heating even though he himself wasn't cold, he knew how the cold got to Ava. He moved to a parking spot closer to the entrance to med so he could spot Ava when she came out. While Connor waited he turned in his phone, playing a car racer game he had Download. Connor glanced up frequently, finally spotting Ava shuffling out of med in her long winter jacket.

Connor turned on the car and pulled up next to her, popping the door open.
"Thanks" she breathed, welcoming the warmth of the car. Ava put her hands together and blew into them. "Long day?" Ava asked, sliding her bag between her legs.
"No, nothing too busy in the Ed"
"That's always good" she settled back into her seat.
Connor and Ava made light conversation as they drove back home, quickly hurrying inside from the cold.

Ava closed the door behind the, and started stripping off her many layers.
"What did Nat want to talk about?" He asked, unwinding his scarf.
"Oh nothing, it was silly" she shook her head, shaking out her hair.
"No, tell me" he smiled, intrigued now.
"She wanted to set me up with this guy, to go on a date with tonight"
"I'm not going to go" she said, waving her hand in front of her face as she shrugged off her jacket.
"Why not?"
"What? Would you be okey with that?" Ava asked, as far as she knew Connor wasn't dating while she was living with him.
"Ava you should get back out there. Why would you need my permission?" He furrowed his brow, walking into the kitchen.

Because I was sleeping in your bed last week.

"No, I just didn't want you to be uncomfortable. If I ever brought him over"
"So it's a him?" Connor grinned, taking a beer from the fridge.
"It's a him" Ava pursed her lips. "I'm going to go get ready"
She disappeared into her room, repeatedly convincing herself that this was good idea.

After showering and re-curling her hair Ava sat down to do her make up, running the gentle brushes across her skin as she focused on what she was doing. Ava slid on her heels and sprayed a sample of vanilla perfume she had picked up, wanting to find a new signature scent after veering away from her classic lilac.

Ava adjusted her earring as she walked into the living room, spotting Connor spread out on the sofa, sipping his beer.
"I'm going to head off, I'll be back later"
Connor eyed her up, studying her outfit.
"What's wrong?" Ava pulled her skirt lower, suddenly feeling self conscious about her outfit choice.
"Nothing" he took a sip of his beer. "You wore that outfit on our first date"
Ava blushed up to her ears, realising she had, right down to her high heel choice. It was a little black, fitted, shoulder-less dress, with a some what immodest v-neck.
"I can change if you want me to"
"No" he said shortly. "You look good" he looked away to the tv.
Ava turned on her heel and took her jacket from the rack, "I'll be back later"

Connor was finishing off the latest episode of Jimmy Fallon when he heard keys at the door.
"You're home early" he smiled, seeing her coming through the door. He glanced at his phone, it was only half eight.
Ava pulled her jacket of her shoulders and hung it up.
"I'm beginning to remember why I don't date" she ran her hand through her hair.
"That bad?" Connor winced.
Ava took off her heels and sat down on the sofa, tucking her feet under her.
"He was a paediatrician, 29, David. And I now know a concerning amount of detail about his mother and childhood"
"Also known as the most boring hour and a half for me" she sighed. Ava sat up and took a bottle of wine from the cabinet and a glass.
"Did you have a drink at dinner?" Connor asked.
"Yeah, just one though. Needed something to get me through dinner"
"You want one?" Ava held up the bottle.
"I'm all set" Connor held up his beer.
