"Ava"
"Ava" Connor repeatedly shook her.
"Ughhh, what" she whined into the pillow she was cuddling with.
"You have to get up, you already had a lie in. You're going to be late"
She rolled onto her back to face him.
"I was so tired, and so comfortable"
"It's cause your staying so late each night at the hospital" he told her, sitting down at the end of the bed, already in his scrubs.
"You said you wanted me in the house more, here I am" She shrugged.
"get up" Connor said gently before she could close her eyes.
"I'll make your favourite breakfast?" He tempted her.
Ava's eyes shot open and Connor moved to leave the room.
"I'm up, I'm up" she scrambled out of bed to the bathroom.
"Now that's the Ava I remember" he said to himself as he walked to the kitchen to make some  avocado on toast with a fried egg on top.

Ava came into the kitchen when he was done, freshly showered.
"This is why you're my favourite roommate" she came up to him, kissing his cheek.
"Eat quickly, we don't have much time"
Ava finished her breakfast happily, quickly driving the pair to work.
"Dr. Rhodes, T1" Maggie handed him an IPad.
Ava took his bag without question and left it in his locker.

She treated her patients and looked over surgery notes for when she'd be back working. Ava make her way down to the canteen, footsteps following behind her.
"Hey, Avey" Connor smiled, falling into pace with her.
"Connor" she smiled.
"Did you forget we have our lunch breaks at the same time, Dr. Bekker?"
"Maybe I just wanted to get the last slice of apple pie" she said, quickening her pace.
"Oh, so that's how it is" he matched her pace and they were both quickly walking down the hall.

An empty bed brush through one of the hall doors, nearly knocking the doctors off their feet.
"Sorry" the Med student called over their shoulder.
Moving not to let them get hit by the door Connor had pushed Ava, pinning her against a wall. Connor moved his forearm from the side of Ava's head. The pair collapsing into giggles at the event.
"Come on, Dr. Rhodes" she took his hand, leading him away.
"You should talk to your students about safety"
"Mhm, I think he was one of yours Dr. Bekker" Connor argued.
Ava smiled and dropped his hand as they went into the canteen.

They picked up their lunch trays and items, Ava swiping her card for both meals before Connor could.
"Avey you didn't need to"
"I wanted to" she said, nabbing their table. Ava shook her bottle of orange juice before opening it.
"I'm going to stay a little late, I'll get the subway home" she said casually.
"Are you sure" Connor furrowed his brows, "you've been staying late a lot"
"I just need to get a few more things sorted" she shrugged.
"Why you missing me that badly?"
"Oh desperately" Connor played along.
"We don't get much time together anymore" he took on a more realistic tone.
Ava pursed her lips, feeling guilty that she was cutting back there limited time together even more. "No, I suppose we were never going to be able to stay in bed and spend all day together"

"We're never going to make it for drinks, are we?" Ava said truthfully.
"This can be our celebration" she suggested.
"Cheers" Ava held up her orange juice. Toasting with Connors latte.
"Welcome back"
Ava smiled and finished her orange juice.
"I'll be back in a minute, I just need to run to the bathroom" he excused himself and Ava took it to entertain herself by people watching out the window.
Connor returned shortly later sliding a plate in front of her.
"I thought they said they were out of pie?" Ava looked up at him suspiciously.
"Annie from catering owns me a favour" he straightened the fork on her plate.
"Thank you she smiled" taking the sweet treat happily.
Conor moved to grab a sliver with his fork but Ava pulled the plate back cheekily, smirking to him before pushing the plate to him.

They said goodbye after lunch, hugging briefly in a quite corridor. Ava had got the subway home, her shift ending before Connors. Making it home even with her extra workload. Letting herself into the apartment she showered, lounging around the house before making a dinner for the two.
