The car engine purred into silence and jay killed the lights.
"Thanks for the ride back" Ava unbuckled her seatbelt.
"Yeah, it's no...." Jays voice trailed off.
"What?" Ava turned her head.
"Stay in the car" he put a hand on her arm, pushing her back into her seat.

The door to Ava's motel room was open and the lights were on. Jay hopped out and pulled his gun from its holster, approaching the door quietly. Two fingers tapped him on the shoulder and he jumped suddenly. Ava followed behind him closely, jay shook his head and mouthed, "wait in the car"
"No" she shook her head, Jay and shrugged, moving forward. He kicked the door opened suddenly and stormed in, "Chicago PD show yourself!"
A man came storming out of bathroom door holding a hoodie.
"This is what you call no contact? Huh? How did you get this!" Hank shouted, waving the hoodie in the air.
"Sarge, calm down" Jay put his gun away a held out his hand.
"Give it back!" Ava snapped, pushing in front of Jay to reach for the hoodie.
"Sarge it was me, I let her keep it" Jay confesses.
Ava makes a grab for the hoodie but Hank pulls it out of her reach.
"You're putting us all in danger!" He hisses. "You spoiled brat!"
Ava's hand collided with his cheek before she could even register it. Hank stumbled back slightly in shock and loosened his grip on the hoodie, allowing Ava to snatch it from the ground.

Hank froze before coming closer to Ava before jays hand collided with his chest.
"Hank" he whispered.
Voight shrugged before storming out of the room. Ava closed the door after him, watching his car pull out of the lot. Ava shut the blinds and turned around, startled slightly at the sight of jay, forgetting he was in the room. Hank had trashed what little furniture and possessions Ava had.
"I'll fix the dresser, if you get the clothes" he suggested, pushing the dresser back into place. Ava moved and picked up her few shirts, jeans, socks and underwear. And refoled them onto her bed. She picked her makeup and the box of pads that were knocked over on her desk. Ava moved into the bathroom, the shower curtain was ripped half off its rings. She looked at it as she reached to wash her hand. Turning on the tap she jumped back in pain, the mirror above the sink had smashed, leaving shards of glass on top of the sink she's just touched.

"Ava?" Jay stuck his head into the room. He sighed seeing the blood pooling in the palm of her hand. He guided her out of the bathroom and sat her on the bed.
"I'll be back in a second" he pressed a towel into her hand. "I'm sure you know what to do"
Ava chuckled and heard jay walk out of the room, a chill hitting her back. Ava kept pressure on her hand and Jay came back, closing the door again. He sat on the desk chair, opening a small first aid kit on his lap. Jay cleaned around the room before getting a pair of tweezers out.
"Oh, how the tables have turned" she chuckled, wincing as the glass left her hand.
Jay chuckled and put pressure on the wound.
"You were in the army, weren't you?" He puts some gauze in her palm.
"Yep, Iraq, supplying Humanitarian aid. Not army work like what you did"
"But you've used a gun, you knew how to tag my shoulder" she finishes patching up her hand. "So that's what gave me away then?"
"Thanks" Ava takes her hand back from his.

"So what now?"
"It's Hanks call, he'll either pull you out or leave you"
"What do you think he'll do" she asks.
"I don't know Ava" he starts packing up her first aid kit.
"What would you do, Jay?"
Jay met her eye, "You've done better then we would have expected. He's taken a liking to you. We may not get another chance like this"
Ava nodded and relaxed back a little she blinked and suddenly tears were spilling down her cheeks. Ava wiped her cheek, embarrassment flooding through her.
"Sorry" she apologised as more tears kept coming.
"Hey it's okey" he sat next to her on the bed, side hugging her.
"I didn't even know why I'm crying"
"It's okey, it's been a stressful" he patted her shoulder.
Ava wiped her cheek one last time before pulling Connors hoodie over her head, bringing the collar to her nose.

"I know this must be so difficult for you two"
"Have you ever been undercover while dating someone?" Ava asks softly.
"No" jay shakes his head, he couldn't imagine being away from Hailey for this long without seeing her. Ava nodded her head, pulling her knees to her chest.
"You should get some rest" he told her, sitting up from the bed.
"We'll probably move you soon to a different motel. We like to change them every few weeks" he tells her.
"Okey" Ava nods shyly.
"Goodnight" he reaches for the door.
"Night" she says before he closes the door, and there she is, alone again.
