Chapter five

Yara had helped Vis with every step. Taking off her clothes and being naked in front of a girl she had just met was strange, but she got over it quickly when she got into the tub with hot water.

Yara helped her wash, both the body and the hair. She also helped her dry herself, comb the hair, and dress in fresh new clean chamber clothes.

The sun was going down over Kings Landing. While sitting at the vanity, they ingaged in several quite nice and interesting conversations.

Yara told her all about how things with the maids worked and how much she would need to depend on them from now on. When she had asked if she could do anything alone, the only answer was "sleeping" with a small laugh following.

But Yara also added that if she got tired of the help, all she needed to do was dismiss them, and they would leave her alone.

Yara opened the window by the vanity, telling Vis that fresh summer air would dry her long hair quicker.

When they were all finished, Yara walked over to the closet and pulled out two of the dresses Heleana had brought her.

"They will fit me, right?" Vis asked, looking at the two options.

"They might be a little snug, Princess." Yara said, smiling awkwardly.

"The queen doesn't have the same body as you, princess." She added.

"You have more curves, and you are quite much taller." Vis chuckled softly. She was grateful for Yaras honesty.

"Not really my style either. Us Borrons are known for showing much more skin." She said, shrugging slightly.

"They are beautiful, though. But if I'm gonna have some new ones made, I would like more slits, open back, maybe." She added, looking at Yara making an O shape with her mouth. "Quite scandalous, Visenya."

"These will do until then, I guess." Vis said, sighing softly.

"Tell me, Yara. How fancy do I have to expect this dinner to be?" Vis asked as she walked up to Yara, grabbing the light blue dress. It had thin fabric. Clearly, it would look too daring on her?

"I chose this one." She said, grabbing the same blue dress from Yara. "The dinner is simply a dinner, my lady. The same they have every night as a family." She added.

"And who will be there?" Vis asked, handing the dress back to Yara once Yara had placed the other back into the wardrobe.

"The King, Queen, Queen mother, Prince Aemond as well as the queen mothers father, the hand." Yara said as she laid the dress down onto the bed.

"That's it?" Vis frowned, thinking there would be more.

"It's just the family." Yara added, walking over to Vis and ran her fingers through her hair, now almost dry.

"And what about Aemonds wife?" Vis asked, now stepping over to the vanity, sitting down on the stool by it.

"Oh, the prince is not married." She chuckled.
Vis nodded and looked upon her own reflection in the mirror.

Yara spent some time braiding her hair into several braids. When she was finished, she asked Vis if she liked the style. Her hair was brought into a half updo, braided from the crown of her head and all the way down to the end of it. Two more braids, one on each side of her temple, was added as well. The whole thing was collected together in a single beautiful style.

"I love it, thank you, Yara."

Yara helped her into her undergarments, a base layer made out of paper thin cotton. She refused the corset, saying she wanted to be free to breathe properly.

The dress was then added, and Yara helped her with some slip-on sandals.
When she was done, all dolled up, Yara finally took forward a small pouch of makeup, adding a bit of red pigment to the already rosy cheeks and lips.

Vis walked over to the tall mirror on the wall by the wardrobe, looking at herself. She had never felt so fancy her whole life. And this was probably nothing. The dress was indeed snug, and she could clearly see that all her womanly features were visible. Not minding it herself, but worrying slightly if it would be indecent of her to show up like this. It was better than arriving in nothing, that's for sure.
