CHAPTER THRITYSIX
Aegon had placed himself a few lengths away from her, leaning himself towards the wall of the pool. She watched his hands play with the water as she waited for him to do something drastically or to say something. He didn't, instead he kept silent as he focused on his hands, letting his fingers run back and forth in the water in front of him.
Vis had turned away from him slightly, just in case he decided to look over at her, all he could see would be the skin on her back.
"You know, the sile-" He was interrupted by Vis who spat out her words towards him now.
"I don't want you to touch me. Ever!" He had let out a loud sigh as he met her gaze, then looked back at his hands that was playing in the water.
"I think you should cut me some slack." A suggestion that had made Vis let out a loud sarcastic chuckle.
"Cut you some slack? For kidnapping me from my husband? For cutting my throat?" She let her finger run along the small space that he had gotten to bleed the day before. Aegon didn't respond, instead he just looked down on to the water yet again.
"I'm sorry for cutting you, if you'll allow me, I can have a look at it later?" He suggested, knowing damn well what the answer would be. When she did not answer he knew that she would prefer him not to do exactly that.
"Why did you kidnap me anyway, Aegon? Is it not terribly twisted for even you to take away a pregnant wife from her husband that she loves just so you can force her to be your plaything?" She keeps spitting out the words towards him, her tone very aggressive.
"Can you calm down so I can tell you the reason or are you just gonna keep shouting at me for the rest of our bath?" He answeres calm, looking over at her as he shifts slightly in his spot. This small move makes Vis almost jump, and she hunches her arms over her knees, making herself even smaller than she already looked. Vis shakes her head not believing that he would even dare to ask her permission to explain.
"Go on then!" She burst out.
"When you both fled the capital after that day, I was terribly ashamed of what I had tried to do." He begins, looking over at Vis see watch for some sort of emotional response in his words.
"I didn't want to hurt you, truly, and I'm speaking the truth when I honestly in my drunken state had thought for all those days that you actually had some sort of affection towards me as I had for you. It angered me terribly that my brother so easily just took you as his and I-" He is cut off by Vis again who laughs from how stupid he sounds.
"Aemond did not take me, we just clicked very easily and we found that the connection we shared was more true than any other type of affection any of us had felt earlier."
He keeps looking at her, sighing softly as he is honestly trying to be patient with her.
"If you can just let me finish?" He begged as he tilted his head back to let it rest against the wall of the pool. He sees Vis nodding so he continues.
"And it angered me terribly that someone I thought I had some sort of good connection with, chose my brother over me. I was drunk for most of it, yes. But have you ever thought that there might be a reason why I drank so much?" She doesn't know what to answer to that to be honest so she stays silent in waiting for him to continue.
"I started drinking heavily when I was 13, Vis. My mother had told me of her plans to try and get me to become the next king, and even though I told her I had no taste for power or no wish to rule a whole bunch of kingdoms, and she still spent years to prepare me for the crown. A crown that I could only carry once my own father was dead. I thought that drowning myself in alcohol and shrooms would make the problem go away, but it only made me question my own capabilities and how fit I would be to protect the realm."
