CHAPTER FIFTYFOUR

Laenor had taken Aemma back to bed when dinner was over, promising he would come back once she had fallen asleep. Lord Maron was incredibly interested in hearing all about the father and sons story, where they had been, what they had done and experienced, why they now were back and how they all had coped alone for so long, and how they had managed to stay under the radar.

When they had stayed in Volantis, Laenor had daily changed his appearance by covering his white hair in dark clay. Jace on the other hand, did not even bother to conceal his identity besides using a different last name and not tell people who hos parents was. Even though he was half Targaryen, the Strong genes had blessed him with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

When Aemma had been taken to sleep, Aegon had joined his love by her side, though he had moved rather quickly back over to Daemon as Vis was very occupied talking to Jace.

When the dinner came to an end, Laenor had barely managed to get back when the staff had started clearing the tables. Vis had offered them to move outside to the Queens garden to sit outside and under the stars, as she found it much better to have fresh air available when it was getting that late. So she asked a few of the staff to ready the garden sofa group and light the bon fire that she always said where gonna serve as a good spot for her own family evenings when she got older and had children. Now it could finally be used, and they all moved outside rather quickly after being told that it was ready.

Because Vis and Aegon were only among their family, and everybody now knew about them, she had not thought twice about joining him in the corner of the sofa where he had sat down. He had put his arm around her and pulled her close, kissing her on her head as she leaned in. Not a single one of their company seemed to care, so it was very nice to be able to not hide all the time.

Laenor had admitted that Ser Criston had told him about the war, Vis who now was getting tired had let Aegon tell about the whole conflict, and he did not waste on the details.

Jace had admitted that he would give anything in the world to be back on dragonback again, and so Vis decided there and then that if Vermax seemed to accept Jace when they were reintroduced, she would step down and take over Syrax instead. "Though, you'll probably have some trouble getting him used to have his saddle back on again as I've been riding him bareback the whole time."

That comment had left Jace wide eyed and with a dropped jaw. And it sparked a whole new conversation when both Laenor and Jace wanted to know how and why she had managed to mount four dragons without any problems. When Vis told them that she had in fact tried to mount Dreamfyre as well a few times, but that she had rejected Vis, she had understood that it was about the connections she had with the dragons, and not the fact that she could probably just mount any dragon she wanted.

She told them about her secretly visiting Vhagar for 3 years before the day Aemond had caught her, and on the day she had mounted Sunfyre, she had done so because Aegon was drunk and unfit to fight, and she could not bare to see him, she pointed to Daemon, burn down the capital while Vhagar and Dreamfyre fought him without success. Aegon had specified that she even rode for the first time alone without shoes and in only in her night clothes.

And when Vis told them about the day Aemond had taken her to Dragonstone, told her to not try anything, yet she still got up close and personal with both Vermax, Syrax and Seasmoke. And that when she mounted Vermax she did so when he had no saddle, and so she chose to never start using it again after that.

Vis was starting to become really tired, and Aegon wanted to stay as he had gotten into quite a interesting conversation with Laenor about their family three and their ancestors. So when Vis had excused herself in favor for bed, she had quickly just kissed Aegon goodbye and went on her way back to her chambers.
