End of an Era, end of living souls.
CHAPTER FOURTYTWO
When the news of his wife going early into labor had reached him, Aemond had rushed to his dragon to fly back to Kings Landing to be with her. He didn't care if he had to kill his brother, for he was certain that Aegon was the reason that his wife was now all alone in the capital.
He did not even hesitate to get there as quickly as possible, ignoring all signs that his dragon gave to him of being in bad health.

1 year later in Kings Landing.
"Visenya Amarie Targaryen, Second of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms."
The doors of the throne room flew open, and through it walked the first single ruling queen in the history of the seven kingdoms at a quick pace. To her left stood the house Tully, Martell, Stark, Baratheon, and house Tyrell.
To her right was the houses Lannister, Velaryon, Pine, Crab, Dragonstone and Sunglass. As she approached the Iron Throne, she didn't turn her head to left as she passed her cousin standing there, observing her quick pace.

When the news broke to Winterfell that the princess had given birth to a stillborn Prince, her husband had rushed to his dragon to fly home and be with her. He had not cared that he would probably have to kill his brother, for he knew that Aegon was responsible for the death of his firstborn son.
With that only in his mind, he had ignored every sign that Vhagar had given him of her being ill and not fitted to fly that long of a distance. It was, therefore, a sad day who turned sadder when Vhagar had crashed into the cliffs that surrounded Storms End, causing the dragon and her rider to perish in the fall
When Aemond never showed up in the capital, Aegon had taken the news as odd, and personally left the capital on dragonback to fly to Winterfell to fetch his brother, knowing very well that he would have his last day in this world as he was certain that he would be killed upon arrival.
But when the sight of his brother's massive she dragon laying dead on the beaches against the cliffs that surrounded Storms End had caught his attention, he had truly seen the result of his actions.
When landing Sunfyre next to the corpse of Vhagar, he had searched for his brother. And he had found his brother's body crushed under the massive weight of his dragon.
When Aegon had returned to the capital with the news of his brother and his dragons deaths, he did not tell a soul. Grief, regret, and shame sent him straight back to the bottle, and he left the love of his life clueless.
After having found her husband drunk in his chambers, Heleana had managed to force the news out of Aegon. The result was an even sadder day turning miserable when she tossed herself out of her chamber window, dying when her body hit the ground.
Aegon had woken the next day to the news of his wife's death. Those did not help with his wish to drown his sorrows in the alcohol, and he had left Visenya clueless for yet another day.
The Princess, still in her grief, had heard the chaos outside of her chambers. When she called for her maid, the maid never came. So, in her state, she had dragged herself out of her chambers and met a hallway in chaos.
"It saddens me to tell you, Princess, that your husband has been found dead by dragon along the shore of Storms End."
The news had broken Vis completely, and because of the way they were delivered, she thought for another day that Aemond had been the victim of Sunfyres firebreath. The next day, she was made aware that the Queen had taken her own life from the news of her brothers death. And so Vis' life turned dark. She was now a widow, no longer a mother, and she lost her dearest cousin, all within a few days, all because the King had kidnapped her out of his own greed.
When the truth of her husband's death had reached her, the blame on Aegon only turned greater. Now she knew that because her husband was so eager to rush to her, he had ignored the signs of his sick dragon and pushed her to fly a distance she was not able to handle.
She learned the same day that Aegon had not shared the news with anybody but his wife, and so Heleana responded by taking her own life.
Weeks turned into months, and by the 7th moon after the 'week of disaster', the Red Keep was in chaos.
For the king had turned himself completely back into his drunken state and was not fit to rule the realm anymore.
After practically holding the King hostage for days to sober him up, he had expressed his no longer desire to rule and asked to be excused from the crown. The council and its men had tried to persuade him to change his mind, but Aegon showed no signs of wanting to do so.
So for the next two weeks, Lords from many houses all around the realm had traveled to Kings Landing, now burdened with the task to decide who would be the next person to sit upon the Iron Throne.
They had spent two whole days discussing the matter. Many believed that the Rougue prince Daemon should be pardoned for his crimes and crowned King. Some had wanted Princess Rhaenys to take her rightful place as Queen that now was.
But most had agreed that there was only one true Targaryen heir, and she was the youngest, the fittest, and she was still able to carry on the Targaryen bloodline. She was destined that day. For on that day, they all voted, and their choice fell upon the Princess who died and came back to life.
On her nameday, the 14th day of the seventh moon of the year, she was against her will crowned in front of the common folk of Westeros and its capital. For the first time in history, a woman sat alone on the Iron Throne, ruling the seven kingdoms and protecting the realm.
