CHAPTER THIRTYNINE

There is barely any light coming from outside now, and Vis can hear the rain whipping against the windows, as well as the wind howling through the cracks of the castle.
It's been over an hour since she asked for food, and nobody has checked on her.

The whole day has been a massive chaos for Aegon. He has completely abandoned his duties as king for the day in favor of being with Vis, then his wife, and now he is making his way down the stairs after he recieved word of a fire further down by the harbor.

In the middle of all of today's events he has completely forgotten that he has promised to get word to winterfell, he has forgotten to make sure Vis is alright, he has forgotten to check if her dragon was even captured.

He is clearly struggling to keep up with the day, and this is when sober. Imagine if he were to do all this half drunk. But his mind is interrupted when he approaches the big entrance door that is flying open from the wind as a guard steps in.

"The fire is in our grain storage building down by the harbor, your grace." He rubs his hand over his face, sighing heavily.

"Then fix it for fucks sake!" The guard nods as he walks over to another group. The wind that is going can easily turn the fire from consuming one building and intl a dusin in no time.

"Your grace, the-" "ENOUGH! You are capable of making smart decisions on your own as you've been doing so for a long time. Just... get the fires under control, secure the castle for the storm, and make sure that Vermax is caught and put into the dragonpit. And check the Queens dragon!" Aegon had had enough of them constantly asking for him to make decisions as if he would not approve if he didn't agree to it.

The capital had been run for years before he became king without a functional leader as his father was incapacitated for his last years. But he understood why they all felt the need for approval.

He hadn't been ruling properly before now, and now they probably felt that he would notice if anything was done in a way he didn't like it to be done. But he didn't care, to be honest. This responsibility was only now being accounted for because he had to.

As he stood there, he felt the wind blowing in his hair, just observing people outside for a moment before turning to head back in. When he saw one of the guards he had stationed outside of Vis chambers, he came running down the stairs he let out a loud sigh.

"Your grace, the princess has requested food." Aegon just stares at the guard as if he is a fucking moron for not being able to do anything about that then to come to him with it.

"Then get her food, by the Gods, you are all useless today!" He shouts as he starts jogging up the stairs.

The hour is incredibly late, and Vis has had to secure the window from the wind several times. She can see the formation of dark clouds, the sea is rough and foamy, and the lightning is causing the dark sky to light up in front of her.

The door is suddenly opening behind her, and the sound of it scares her into a jumping fright. Amara, the maid from earlier, is entering the chambers.

"Can you please come with me, princess?" She asks after curtseing.

"The hour is very late, and I'm hungry. What is needed of me?" She adjusts the shawl that she had found a few hours ago around her shoulders.

"Please, come with me?"

Amara steps to her side, signaling for Vis to come. Sighing in frustration, she steps over to the bedside table and takes her hourly sip of the milk before stepping over to the girl. Vis has her hands rest on her belly.
