CHAPTER THERTYTHREE

Even though Vis had her horse gallop towards the gate, she still felt weird when she got up by it by herself. There was a child waiting for the gates to open, and soon Aemond has joined her by her side on his horse.

"Nice of you to join me." She smiles as her husband approaches them on horseback.

"Can you not gallop that much please?" Is the first thing he says when he lays his eyes on her. Vis sighs heavily, steering her horse through the gate that is now opening. Both Aemond and Rhae had been on her neck the last weeks after she had started to have some hip pain, telling her to take things slow.

No matter how many times she tried to explain that being active was the only thing that kept her from being in pain so much, they still nagged her. She knew that she would not stop riding either her horse, her dragon or their Elephant for that matter just because they asked her to. Riding was freeing for her, and Aemond knew that very well.

When they both start riding along the streets of Volantis they are joined by a number of guards also on horseback.
During their entire stay there, there had been no words in form of ravens from Kings Landing, and the pair had started to become rather comfortable in the free city.

Not only did they live in very high luxury, she were showered with gifts in all shapes and forms from the high lord Nossau. His first name was Remus, but only Visenya was allowed to call him that. Remus had the sight of the old gods in his palm, and he had seen a savior come in his dreams, riding on dragonback.

Volantis did not need saving, it needed nothing in fact. But Remus had explained one night at dinner that he believed that the future high lord of the oldest free city in the world would be of the blood of old Valeriya. So when the pair had arrived unannounced in Volantis he thought the city's future was finally secured.

The high lords of Volantis has always been elected by other important Lord and Lady's coming from all the nine free cities. But Remus though had dreamt that when he died, a civil war would break lose between the cities as their inhabitans did not care for the elections. Remus was an old man, and despite having two wives, he did not have any living children beside a young girl named Tarina who were a bastard. Tarina was fierce, bold and rogue. Aemond had told Vis how much she reminded him about their uncle Daemon.

In fact, when Tarina had heard the story of the rogue prince attacking Kings Landing she had been very amused.

Among the pairs other guards where of course Rhaena, but one of Aemonds very loyal guards that had grew up with him in the capital had fled to Volantis after learning that the pair had as well. He was a knight of the finest arts, and his name was Ser Yrtas Gold. Ser Yrtas was quite much alike Aemond, and they had terribly much in common. Their love for dragons, their love for a fine woman, their love for duty, their love for sacrifice.

Ser Yrtas had only love for one woman, but unfortunately for him, that woman had no love for him. For he had seen Ser Rhaena, and completely buckled in his spot. But Rhae did not care for the company of men, in fact, she had eyes on Tarina, Remus' bastards daughter.

Tarina was much older than Vis, Aemond, Rhae and Yrtas. And on this particular day she was going to celebrate her 30th nameday.

Vis had thought long and hard of what to gift her friend for her nameday, and Rhae had nagged almost as much about the same, as well as nagging about her being careful.

"I think maybe I will take Tarina on Vermax for her nameday." Vis had said as they trotted through the streets of Volantis, their course headed towards the palace. While riding she couldn't help but feel sorry for all the people they passed wearing their collars.
