CHAPTER TWENTYTWO

Aemond had insisted that they would let a maester look at Vis' feet. He had brought her towards her chambers. Vis was especially curious to see how the rooms in the back of the castle had survived the attack.

When they had passed through the hallways, there were several windows where the glass had been smashed into thousands of pieces from any of the explosions.

They had checked Aemonds chamber first, and when Vis saw that his windows were still intact, she was very relieved. The relief became even greater when he opened the door and saw that her room was too still intact.

Aemond had told one of the guards to find a free Maester.
When they were safely inside her room, he had ordered her to sit down on the bed.

Her robe was covered in filth. Muddy and black by the hem of the skirt. Reaching for some towels, he dragged a chair over across the floor and lifted up the filthy skirt to get a proper look at what they had to work with.

He ordered her to place her feet on his lap, and Vis did not hesitate to listen.

Her feet were pulsating with pain and aches, and when her legs lay across Aemonds lap, she could see the true injuries they had received. They were bloody and full of cuts, some of the cuts still bleeding.

He gently lifted her legs up to let her feet rest on the towel.

"I hope this will be a good lesson for you to never leave your chambers barefeet." He mumbles. He let's his hands run along the bottom of both her shins, glancing over at her.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to help." Vis answers quietly as she leans back to let the weight of her body rest against the mattress.

"I know, my love." He gives her a reassuring smile.

The Maester Duron had joined them a little later than that, and Aemond had asked for her to get pain relief in the form of the milk of the poppy, which Vis kindly accepted.

Not only did her feet hurt, but her whole body now ached. She decided there and then that once her feet were healed, she would definitely listen to her betrothed in the suggestion that strength and stamina training were necessary for her.
If she was to claim a dragon, she would need a stronger muscle core.

The Maester had taken his time to treat Vis' feet. First, she was given a strong syrupy substance that almost instantly helped with the pain. Her feet were washed, her wounds were cleaned, and her cuts were treated with some kind of ointment. Aemond had sat beside her the whole time and comforted her when the stinging pain was too much for the milk to treat.

The Maester had reassured her how lucky she was thar her first ride on dragonback only resulted in injured feet.

"Your betrothed was not that lucky after his first ride." Maester Duron had said, looking over at the prince who actually let out a soft chuckle in response.

"He treated my eye that our nephew cut, right after I claimed Vhagar." Aemond confirmed to his very confused and slightly high love resting against him.
Even though Vis was a little out of it, she still was very much thankful that she had not gotten more injured from this whole day.

Maester Duron had wrapped Vis' feet in white bandages and told her that she should stay in bed and rest for the remaining of the day. Vis definitely did not mind that, but she also didn't want to go to bed all dirty and smelling of dragons. When asked, the Maester gave her permission to take a bath as long as she kept her feet out of the water.

"I'll help her, don't worry." Aemond had reassured the Maester. Maester Duron had looked over at the pair a little bit confused.

"Your maid, Yara, had also mentioned earlier that you would be needing the tea this evening. I had it made, but if you still want it, I need to remake it as it is most effective once freshly brewed."
