I struggled a lot with this chapter to be honest. It's just one of those days.
CHAPTER FIFTYFIVE
On their walk back to the Red Keep, Vis had realized something that would probably change a lot of things around in the realm.
She had to really think of the rules and the laws. Because even though Aegon was the oldest heir to the Iron Throne, he had given it up, and so she took over when no other Targaryen wanted the responsibility. But now there was another one right there in front of her.
"You know I have to name you my heir now, right?" Vis turned her head and looked at Jace who were widening his eyes and sighing heavily. "Aegon is your heir?"
"Aegon has already been king and told the crown to basically fuck off. He got his old title back, but I have yet to pick an heir because they kept pushing me to chose a husband so I could produce one."
"Is my natural claim higher because I am older than you?" He was genuinely curious as God forbid some idiot found out if that was the law.
"You're a bastard, so no. You fall in the back. But right now you're the only pick, ergo, your spot in the back is currently also in the front."
"You know it's kind of funny that you'd say that, because me and my brothers are half dragon, and so is Aemond, Aegon and Heleana. The only thing that differs is that my mother was not married to Harwin Strong."
"Fuck you're right." Vis mumbles having the biggest aha experience right now.
"Why did they make such a fuss out of you being only half dragon then?"
"No, it was the fact that we were bastards, not half dragons."
"But Aemonds point of you and your brothers only being half dragon and therefore should have less connection with them, makes no sense?" Jace just shrugs, making the funniest 'make it make sense' grimace she has ever seen.
"Out of me, Aegon and you. You're full dragon are you not?"
"Yes my parents both had white hair and where pure blood, GOD that sounds awful." Vis scrunches her nose. "They were sister and brother?" Vis nods sighing slightly. "Half siblings though."
"And I felt disgusting when I first had feelings for Aemond. I thought it weird. Then I met Aegon and Heleana, the latter who refused to let her brother fuck her because he was just that. Her brother."
Jace can't help but laugh a little. "I mean, of you think about it, it's not that bad. You're just cousins."
"Now I don't give a fuck, and my hand nags me every fucking day that if we marry, we will strengthen the bloodline and the family three. As if I give a fuck what my children's hair color are? But now it just so happens that I am in love with him, even though he's the biggest idiot and if you thought bad about his temper when he used to be drunk, you would be shocked to see how easily he loses it for literally nothing when he's sober."
They walk into the walls of the keep, not really having a destination in mind but they both seem to have a automatic approach for where they are headed.
"Aemond was worse, was he not?" Vis shakes her head quickly. "He used to, then we fled the capital and he became a totally different man. He used all his bottled up emotions and anger on training with Rhae. They broke each other's ribs at one point because both of them are stubborn beast who refused to yield. And..." Vis is reluctant if she should add the last part, but she figures why the fuck not. "He was quite wild when it came to sex, and I didn't mind." She chuckled when she realizes she had just admitted that.
