CHAPTER TWELVE

Once Vis had gathered herself from all the after noon events, dressing herself in whatever clothes she could find, she had called for Yara.

The maid had entered the chamber, her eyes going straight to her lady's hair that was so obviously still damp, running down the back of the young girls back, barely able to keep its curl. Yara had taken one look at the empty tub.

Yara told the princess to sit down by the vanity, now helping her with the damp hair to braid.

"Where did you get your hair wet?" The question Vis did not know how to answer came anyway.

"I took a bath." Vis adds shortly.

"Certainly not in here?" Yara asks, stopping her hair braiding, staring at her lady in the reflection.

"No, the queen mother shared her concerns of us seeing the dragon every day would result in us having to bathe every day as well. And the Sers are obviously very tired of running around in buckets, so we figured that we." Yaras eyes widen from the words coming from her lady.

"It's not a big deal. We just took a bath together."
Vis sighs heavily. Glancing up at her maid, he did not really know what to say.

"The queen informed me that she wanted to pair you two up, but you usually leave the intimate part of marriage for after you are actually married, right?" Yara adds as she finishes braiding the hair. The whole clutch of Vis' hair is now collected into one thick, long braid.

"Do I need to ask the maesters for the tea?" Vis shakes her head quickly. "No." She mumbles under her breath. "Well, that's a relief."

The rest of Yaras chores are done in silence from them both. She helps Vis get into her clothes that she is to wear for the rest of the evening and night.

While Yara helps her secure the dress, Vis can't hold in the rest of the events that took place earlier.

"Aegon walked in on us." Vis let's out in almost a whisper. Yara stops what she is doing and looks up at her lady.

"And he said that since he is the king, everything that belongs to Aemond also belongs to him." Vis continues. "Aemond got so mad he held his dagger against the kings throat."

Before Yara can say another word, there is a knock at the doors.

"Not a word of this to anybody, please promise me this, Yara?" Vis begs as she holds her maids hand in hers. Yara sighs softly and just nods.

The doors of her chambers fall open, and Vis can see that her maid curtsies before stepping aside.

"You'd think getting ready wouldn't take that long?" He says as he steps inside the chambers.

Vis pulls herself up from the chair, her body passing her betrothed in silence.

"I must inform you that I won't be able to stay for your hours with the seamstresses." Aemond admits as he is guiding the princess through the corridors of the keep.

"Why not?" Vis looks to her side at her cousin.

"It is for women only. But I will be with you in spirit. Besides, I have other duties." He adds. Vis finds herself wondering what these duties might be.

He is entitled to his own secrets, of course, but it would give her great relief knowing where he was going. He stops them outside of a big room that has the doors open. Vis turns her head, looking inside, seeing a bunch of maids running around, preparing fabric.

On the sofa in the middle of it is her aunt, probably waiting for her. Alicent sees the pair by the door, smiles, and waves her hand in gesture for Vis to join her.

"See you at dinner, my love." Aemond whispers, giving her a small peck on her cheek as he leaves her standing outside of the door. Vis sighs, stepping into the room and further as she watches her aunt get up from her seat.

"There you are, darling. What say you that we finally get you some more clothing?" Alicent asks as she kisses Vis' cheek before they both take a seat.

During the whole process, Vis firstly listens to the seamstress about the clothing history of the Targaryen family. They explain why they wear the colors they wear, and that it is usually not decided by what suits the person the best, rather what house they belong to and marry into.

Knowing very well that the preferred color of Alicent and the Hightowers are green, she expects nothing else.

But she is very surprised when the queen mother suggest that their newest family member will follow the dress code that her ancestor used. It would be a proper statement for the royal family that their long lost princess who was named after the one and only Warrior woman, and that her clothing color would follow that of Visenya, Aegon the conquerors sister wife.

Alicent even emphasized how well the dark green and dark purple would look together when she and Aemond had gotten married.

"Of course, it is only traditions. You can decide for yourself. Do try some of the fabrics on before you do." Alicent told her.

Vis had gotten up from her seat, tucking her dress slightly as she still wore her cousins clothes. She got to see some of the fabric that was suggested. The sketches for some of her dresses.

"Dark purple, black and dark green."
The queen mother had nodded in agreement, and now that the colors were decided, she had to decide on the correct style.

Vis had walked over to one of the dresses that was displayed as an example for hers.

"An open back, maybe." She is talking to herself. Alicent is seen getting up from her seat, walking over to her.

"It will not always be summer in the capital. You'll need dresses that will also provide you with cover. And an open back is not gonna be convenient when you strut around with a big belly." She laughs, making Vis freeze in her spot.

"I don't think that is gonna happen anytime soon, so I would prefer at least one dress with the style I like." Vis nods, looking at Alicent.

For the rest of the meeting, they are discussing clothes that she will use whenever she is outside of the castle. Vis even tells the news that she has been invited for a ride on her cousins dragon, so it is decided immediately that she will get riding gear.

Vis also reminds them about the fact that Aemond had requested that she would train with him in the courtyard every morning, so clothes for that are added to the list as well.

Finally, the meeting comes to an end, and Vis finds herself exhausted. The change from living outside of the keep and now inside the castle is big for her, and the adventures that follow have drained her completely. When she asks to be excused until dinner, she is happy that it is granted.

When exiting the room, there is suddenly a guard walking behind her. She turns her head and recognizes one of them as the guards she has outside her chambers.

When Vis finally reaches her rooms, she wastes no time to get inside. She just kicks her shoes away from her feet before sitting down on the edge of the bed.

She doesn't even realize that she lays down, and before she knows it, she is asleep.
