CHAPTER THIRTYTWO
Volantis, 8 months later.
The sun sits on it's highest point over the city of Volantis that day. The crowd of nearly a 100 men, women and children outside the city walls are almost completely silent. They all have their head tilted back, looking up at the sky, the sun blinding them as they all keep scanning the top of the world. They all suddenly turn their heads when a loud screech are coming from above and behind them, and out of nowhere, the green scaled dragon Vermax flies straight over their heads.
Whenever the Prince and the Princess flies their dragons over and outside of the city it always attracts a big crowd. This day was no different.
The dragon is ascending steeply upwards, when a strong wind is felt by all the people watching as the biggest dragon in the world is following the much smaller close behind. Visenya is safely holding on to her dragon, still riding Vermax bareback.
"Dracarys!!" She yells from the top of her lungs, and Vermax shoots his fire breath up and into the sky, the crowd on the ground cheering and applauding.
Aemond is caught off guard by his wife's bold move, but manages to steer Vhagar safely through the fire that just stops burning as they fly through it.
They both land their dragons on the dry sand outside of the city walls. The crowd that is still watching from further away is applauding again as they watch the pair dismount their dragons. Soon after, both Vermax and Vhagar flies away, leaving their riders on the ground.
"You do that everytime." Aemond says as he approaches his wife who is pulling her gloves off her hands, letting out a short chuckle at the sight of her husband coming running over at her. She just rolls her eyes as she links her arm into his. They turn their attention towards the guard that is on their way towards them with two horses.
"You are very bold to be flying in your condition." Vis looks at her bestfriends face before down at her very obvious showing belly who she has up until a few weeks ago so effortlessly been able to hide under her clothes.
"You're just scared of them, Rhae." Vis teases as she nudges her shoulder against her best friends before grabbing the rains of her horse that Rhae is holding.
"Maybe you should start thinking about making the rides a bit shorter and spread them out over the week?" Vis sighs heavily as the quickly mounts her horse without problems.
"My mother rode her dragon up until the day before she pushed me out, I will not stop simply because you think I should." She smiles towards her best friend before signaling to her horse that instantly goes from his stop and into a gallop, leaving Rhae and Aemond behind. Aemond just shakes his head as both he and Rhae are now looking at eachother, then shrugs and sighs heavily as he grabs the rains of his horse.
"I told you, she does as she pleases." He is quick to mount his horse before letting it trot away and after Vis who is almost by the city gate by now.
●
They had left Kings Landing on dragonback right after sunrise, just as Aemond promised. Behind them there was six, not five ships with their course towards Volantis.
During the night they had decided on where to go first, and Aemond had left his betrothed in her chambers with Rhae and three other guards while he was out and set up everything that had to be done. Food, clothing, belongings, guards, staff and their food, clothing and belongings. How they managed to pull it off had been the talk of their story for months after they arrived to Volantis.
