CHAPTER FIFTYONE
It was getting lighter, and Vis had along with Aegon and Daemon gotten all the evacuated soldiers off from the ships and back on land.
Among their crew was one maester, and he had refused to take part in checking the men for greyscale. When Vis had broken the news that most likely all the pirates they had now fought might be highly infected with the disease, panic had broken out. They had spent nearly two hours to calm people. Aegon had at first told her she could not touch anybody, but she knew that they had to do something, for they could not all just travel back to driftmark and leave the problem with them.
Vis arranged along with Corlys a system to line up the remaining 160 soldiers to all be registered and checked for any signs of the disease. First she had to inform how it all was going to be handled so none of them tried fleeing or do anything dangerous for themselves.
"First, I need to thank you all for fighting so braverly when we were attacked in the middle of the night. As you all have probably noticed, these pirates were mostly women. Unfortunately they all seem to be infected with greyscale."
Vis clears her throat, and Aegon hands her a drinking sack of water for her to be able to continue."We won this battle, my lords! And their leader Maroda was captured by Prince Daemon and Prince Aegon. Upon her capture she informed us all about the disease, but she also informed that they are not alone."
"Will they come back, your grace?" Vis snapped her head in the direction of where the sound came from, and when she saw who it was, her answers of her wondering of what had happened to Ser Gorgo was given. The rest of the army starts shouting, all yelling in between eachother and chaos is almost a thing when Vermax cuts them off with his loud roar.
"Their leader informed us that they originate from across Essos, more specifically the Dothraki sea. It is safe to say that they most likely are Dothraki outcasts. The Dothraki are known to fear the sea, and being outcasts are probably what drove them this far. But I can not answer you if whether they will return or not. But I will make sure that if they ever do, we will be much better prepared, and we will deal with it in a totally different way!"
"What of our families?!" The group started to yell again, and yet again Vermax had to roar to shut them up.
"We will set up three lines. Me, Prince Daemon and Prince Aegon are immune to the disease, so we will check each and every on of you. IF and only if you have contracted the disease I will personally make sure that you get the best treatment possible. "You will send us to the quarantine zone of the ruins??!!"
"Absolutely not!!!" Vis screamed from the top of her lungs to quiet them down.
"If you are infected, I will make sure that you are all treated as quickly as possible! I have already sent a raven to the capital, and when we have found out how many of you have the disease, you will all sail to Kings Landing, and upon arrival I promise you will have the best treatment. It will be painful, put removing the diseased tissue has proven to be effective in the early stages of the disease. You will be placed in a quarantine section on the harbors of the capital where you will recieve treatment and comfort, I swear to you all on my life I will not rest before I have saved each and every one of you!"
"Your life doesn't mean shit!" The crowd is getting angrier, and Aegon steps to the side of her, ready to defend his Queen just in case.
"And I will make sure that your families are truly compensated for your absence from your homes! And when time comes and you are all free of the disease I will honor you with the titles of a knight. A knight that served the queen in her first war will forever be what you are known for!"
