CHAPTER FOURTYSEVEN

She had woken that morning from sounds in the room. She was fully expecting some of the maids to be doing a chore or one of the guards to get them awake. But when she opened her eyes she saw that the bed was empty and Aegon was gone. Instead, she found him by his table eating while he was writing in his diary.

She had sat up, wiping the sleep out of her eyes, glancing over at him. He seemed to have gotten all of the color back in his face, and he was eating, so that was a good sign.

"Thank the gods, Ser Criston has been nagging me to get you awake for hours. It's almost mid day." In shock from how long she has slept, she pushes the covers off her body and slides out of bed. She grabs her robe and puts in on quickly.

"Why did you not wake me?" He just shrugs as he takes a sip from his drink.

"Well, it's nice to see you doing better, I guess."

"You should probably find your knight. He seemed stressed about the fact you spent the night."

"I'll have the maids come and change your sheets, and if you feel good enough, you should probably take a bath." She walks over to the table and stomps down on the chair across from him. She is about to grab a piece of bread, but he pushes her hand away.

"I'm still eating."

She just stares at him. Clearly, he feels much better as he is able to boss her around like nothing.

"What are you writing?" She nods towards the book on the table. She can tell that it is filled with words.

"None of your business." He mumbles as he keeps eating his breakfast and returns his attention back to the diary.

"Alright, well, if you feel better and up for it, then I'll have your guards be with you for whatever you want to get done. But I swear to you, if I need to have you carried down those stairs at the end of the day, that is the last of your chances." He huffs a chuckle in response.

She stands up from her seat as she walks back to the bed to grab her shoes that she left there last night. She then starts walking towards the door, prepared to leave him alone.

"Do you want to go to the pool, maybe? Later, I mean?"
His question stops her.

"I have a lot to do today, Aegon." She informs him.

"Or did you forget that there is a conflict dwelling?" She reminds him.

"Also, it is highly inappropriate."
There was no need for her to add that last bit, as she was sure he knew that.

"Ser Criston already said that our uncle isn't back yet. Your mother is, however. I think that is why he has been nagging so much, and he is also probably very jealous that you spent the night with your sick cousin." He is clearly in such good shape that he feels the need to be bold like that.

"I'll meet you at the pool when the sun sets." He mumbles as he continues on his breakfast.

"I'll think about it." She informs him before grabbing the handle of the door.

"I bet you will!" He yells after her as she disappears out from the room.

When she exits the room, she instantly meets the very judgeful eyes of her knight. But instead of approaching him, she turns to the guards outside of the door and reminds them about the rules if Aegon wishes to leave his chambers. She also asks for his room to be tidied up as well as the bed.

"Ser Criston." She turns to greet her knight, who is still waiting.

"Lady Saera has been asking for you, your grace." He starts walking after the queen who is quick, despite her just waking up.
