CHAPTER NINETEEN

Aemond had tried to attack the blood worm several times with Vhagar without success when finally help came in the form of his sister on her dragon Dreamfyre.

For what seemed like forever, they coordinated attacks against their uncle on his dragon. Some of them managed to burn Caraxes, but none of them injured him so much that they could hope for a complete retreat.

When Daemon and Caraxes flew out towards the sea, Aemond had almost been sure that was it. He had guided Vhagar over the capital over Kings Bay, taking mental notes on how much damage there was. If he had to guess, he would say that by now, one fift of the capital buildings were on fire. As he passes over his home, he is joined by his sister on dragonback.

Dreamfyre is much quicker than Vhagar. She signals to him that they should land, and after a few minutes, both the dragons are down on soil again.

Vis wasn't dead. In fact, when opening her eyes, she saw that the dragon in front of her had lowered himself down. She took a step closer to him, and to her surprise, he was not bothered by it. Letting her eyes run along the body of the dragon, they landed on its back where the saddle was placed. She calmly and slowly started stepping closer to Sunfyre, and all he did was follow her movements with his eyes.

"Lykiri." She kept repeating in a calm tone, knowing damn well that if he wanted, those words were not gonna stop him from burning her to a crisp.
When she was almost by the shoulders of Sunfyre, she looked down on her feet. She had now in the middle of all of this forgotten that she had no shoes on. But she didn't care about that.

They needed another dragon out there, and since the King didn't seem to want to be a king anymore, why not just take his dragon? Helaena hadn't even questioned it when she told her about it earlier. Besides, she wasn't gonna keep the claim. It was only for today. Stepping forward to the rope ladder that led up to the saddle, she grabbed a firm grip around the ropes.

This made Sunfyre move slightly, but she gained her balance and kept on dragging herself up. Before she knew it, she was pulling herself the last bit, almost like a worm pulling herself over the saddle. She gripped whatever she could the second the dragon started moving under her. She hadn't even told him any commands.

Holding her breath, she tensed her whole body, legs, torso, and arms. She knew that if she didn't want to die, the first rule was to stay on the dragon and not hanging of the saddle and fall to her death. Sunfyre picked up the pace, and he was barely out in the middle of the pit when he kicked himself off of the ground, flapping his pink wings to lift them both up into the sky.

Aemond and Heleana had barely landed when they heard a loud roar coming from over their heads.
Aemond had looked up, seeing the familiar colors of his brother's dragon. Now, maybe they stood a chance after all.

"That's not Aegon, Aemond!" He heard Heleana yell over from Dreamfyre.

"Sōvēs, Dreamfyre!"

Aemonds frowns, now very confused. She must have not seen that it was her husband's dragon in the air, he thought. He watches Dreamfyre take off from the ground again.

He commands Vhagar back up into the sky, and while he tries to scan the air, the ground, the sea for any sign of his uncle, he sees the colors of his brother's dragon come up beside them.

For once, he is happy to see his brother, as they desperately need more than just him in the air. But when Aemond looks to the part of the dragons back that is supposed to carry his brother, all he sees is long white hair and a long skirt blowing after the person in the saddle.
