"hello?" her voice was rough and shaky, even though she tried to cover it up. she woke up to her phone flooded with messages and eventually figured out what they were talking about.
she read all of the comments. the more she read, the more it broke her heart. in the back of her mind, she tried to not believe it. 'they are probably just projecting their insecurities onto me' She thought.
"yeeun! are you okay?"
he sounded panicked. yeeun nodded to herself, as if to convince herself it was all okay. "yeah. I'm fine."
"have you seen it?"
"yeah. I've seen it,"
there was a silence that blanketed over the both of them. it felt suffocating to yeeun, who wanted nothing more than to burst into tears. but it was almost midday and she hadn't responded to anyone. she thought the least she could do was talk to chenle, even if it was briefly.
"I'm sorry."
tears began to well up in her eyes and she tried to not sniffle and crack into sobs. she blinked her tears away and moved her phone away from her to let out a shaky breath, before bringing her phone back to her ear.
"it's not your fault chenle. it's fine."
"I'm so sorry, for everything that they say about you. I never wanted it to happen this way. I'm sorry for being careless-"
"chenle... please. it's honestly fine."
it wasn't fine. she just couldn't handle hearing him apologise for something that wasn't his fault.
"actually I just don't want to think about this right now. I have to study for an upcoming test."
".... Okay, I'll call you later."
"okay... bye chenle."
before he could say anything back she ended the call. As soon as she put her phone back down, she burst into tears. it wasn't supposed to be like this. not so soon.
