after all the excitement of Kai's wedding we were back to the preparation for a derby day and we were away to West Ham and I was buzzing for this match as this time I had lamps in the dugout and it was my first match back after my paternity leave which was adding to my excitement and i felt like it was Christmas and my birthday and debut all at once and I cancelled my alarm and stretched my arms and rubbed my eyes and then got out of bed and jumped in the shower and washed my body and hair and then turned off the shower and then I dried myself off and got into my Chelsea tracksuit and I packed my bag and made the bed and then headed down for breakfast meeting timo and Alex along the way and I said morning lads and Alex said morning mase and Timo said hey bro and morning to you too your cheery this morning and I said it's a London derby guys these are the best kind of matches because they are full on intensity and guaranteed action packed and full of drama and timo said I might be on the same team but you are terrifying and I said I'm just keen that's all now come on I want breakfast we need the fuel and Alex said oh to have your energy I definitely need a strong coffee this morning jeez and I said you alright Alex and Alex said yeah I'm good just got up earlier than planned and couldn't get back to sleep and I said ahh we all get nights like that as long as you know if you need anything you can come and talk to me I don't mind big or small Im always here to help and support you and Alex said cheers Mase appreciate it mate and we arrived at the dining room and we all headed to grab our coffee and I had some toast with chocolate spread and some apple slices and then be me timo Alex make our way to a table and we eat our breakfast and lamps arrived and said right lads are we ready for a good old London derby and in my excitement I yelled fuck yeah and lamps quickly giggled and said thank you for the back up and showing of enthusiasm there Mase appreciated that mate and he continued to give his briefing while I finished my toast and coffee and said now you know what I expect from you so let's finish breakfast and get teeth cleaned and then grab your stuff and meet back here for the coach at 11:30 please and we all said yes boss and lamps headed off to work on a few final pre match bits and I said well Im grabbing an extra coffee and some more chocolate spread on toast and some fruit anyone want anything else and timo said could you please get me a extra expresso please mase and I said yeah sure and Alex said ooh good shout timo I'll head over with you if that's alright mase and I said yeah sure and we head over and I said how you feeling Alex as this is possibly your first senior derby and Alex said errm I feel okay the nerves are there but not too bothersome at the moment and I said well if we start together I'll have your back you know i will and don't worry if we get free kicks or penalties I'm first choice to take them and Alex said do ya know what mase and I said what's that Alex and he replied let's hammer the hammers and I said now that's the attitude I want and we laughed and I said promise you you'll be fine and we get our coffees and extra breakfast bits and then we head back to the table and everybody was really starting to wake up and I said now I'm properly ready for the match and timo said yeah it's definitely the second coffee that wakes me up and I said see you back here in a bit lads and I headed back to the room and I quickly brushed my teeth and then swilled my mouth out with mouthwash and quickly freshened up my face re applied some deodorant and aftershave and I then shoved some gum in my mouth packed my wash bag into my travel bag and headed back down to the hotel waiting room to board the coach and I noticed lynds sat on a table typing on her computer and I left my bag on the sofa and quietly snuck up behind her and kissed her and she lent back into me and said hello baby you okay and I said I'm buzzing gorgeous I just want to go and play and she said I bet you are baby and she whispered and smelling delicious as usual and I said recognise it baby and she said of course I do which happened to be some of the words I said to you when you wore that last and I said just wanted to smell as good as I'm feeling and Lynds said I know you'll be as good as your smelling aftershave or no aftershave and I said my perfect cheerleader always and I kiss her head and bite a little bit of her chocolate bar and she said oh like you need anymore sugar and I giggled and ran away and headed back to the sofa and I was soon joined by Kai timo Alex flynn kian and Shane and I said hey boys and Kian said alright skip and I said yeah I'm good and soon enough we were told to get ready to board the coach and I said eeek finally it's go time and I heard kian say dude aren't you meant to be all conflicted being up against your best friend and I said nah we'll be fine I mean he'll get over it eventually maybe and Kai said he's definitely lying he won't shut up about it in the slightest and I said uhh I will stop talking about it and timo said yeah that's because you will be asleep and we all laughed and made our way to get on the coach and when we were all on board we set off and dec text me ( dec o ration ⚽️) Hey bro PLEASE BE NICE TO US today we need these points 🤩 and I replied with (money mase 🤑) bro as if it's a derby day for a reason so put your big boy studs on and see ya on the pitch ✌️ and then I get another notification from the chat that lynds is in (double trouble head against the window of the coach and watched the world go by and before I knew it we had arrived at the West Ham stadium and the coach pulled up to a stop and we all stood up and stretched our arms and then we began getting off the coach and making our way into the stadium and then to the dressing room Frank said right gents you know what i expect from you and you know what you expect from each other so I'm going to have kepa kai joey Matt kian flynn Alex Danny Shane Lucas and mase as captain okay and we said yep and Frank said right change and warm up lads and we do as instructed and I said to Alex  you'll be fine if it's going to help don't think about it being a derby just treat it as a regular game alright and like I told you I'm on free kicks and pens okay so just focus on your game and getting experience and learning your placement in a match okay I promise you will be fine if you are struggling say something and sub yourself off okay and Alex takes a breath and says okay let's do this and I pat his shoulder and I pat his shoulder gently and offer a warm comforting smile and I take a sip of my vitamin water and then I put my arm band on and we were called to line up and get ready to walk out and then we got the signal and we were led out and we walked out to a roar from both sides of fans and a sea of bubbles and I discreetly aggressively stood on any that landed near my feet and then with the pre match pictures and handshakes done it was into our positions and await the kick off whistle and I was getting more and more excited and suddenly the whistle rang out around the stadium and the match began and both teams fired into action and West Ham immediately came to circle me and I spun through them and bolted down the pitch and I thought shoot or lose and I kicked the ball and I powered it in to the top right corner of the net and I was so happy I ran to the corner flag and leaped in the air I punched it and I was embraced by everyone and the Chelsea fan's roar rolled around the stands and I acknowledged them and I marked out dec as the weak point for West Ham's midfield and I stuck by him and I received the ball again and I quickly dipped my shoulder and spun and gave Alex the ball and he tapped it in the corner and across the line and put us a another goal ahead and I headed over and said told ya that you could do it and Alex said nah not without you skip thank you for the assist again and I said your goal your glory and everybody congratulated Alex and we carried on and I said boy's on my wing tighten up and boys behind me mark closer and I intercepted the ball that was heading towards declan and I spun around him and kicked the ball and into the net it flew and I tap the badge on my chest proudly and the stands erupted again and began chanting my name and then the ref blew the whistle and signaled that it was half time I thought ohh already dang I'm having so much fun and Alex said erm mase ain't that Southgate and I said oh yeah he'll be at matches probably scouting for the next camp don't worry it's me dec he'll be watching your still in the developmental squad yet so breathe yeah and replay that lovely goal of yours and frank said precisely what mase just said which is what kicks off the half time talk delighted for your goal Alex that was really well played by you well done and Alex said oh I only finished off what mason set up and frank said it went in off your foot so you had played a part too and mason those goals were stunning I'm loving it and I smiled softly mouthed welcome and Frank said i know im asking a lot from you today but you can do it your proving that with your efforts on the field and keep pressing as much as you can alright and we all say yea boss and we get our legs checked and if needed we change our boots and we have drinks and refuel snack bars and then we head to get ready to walk out again and frank said okay so just gonna make two subs for now Kai your off and timo is on and Matt is off for oli so keep that first half momentum while still trying to make and finish any chances okay and we say yeah and make our way back to the pitch and Frank informed the match officials of his changes and we resumed the match and i could tell West Ham had already admitted defeat and when dec made a pass that resulted in him fouling oli we were awarded a free kick and dec said a free kick for what exactly and oli said think it's because you fouled in the box mate and dec said ahh fuck sakes and the ref said who's the free kick taker and i said I am today and the ref said right okay and he placed the ball in the position and I mentaly planned the kick and it's almost as if lamps appeared in my head and he said curl and dip so kick with the hip and I did exactly that and the ball launched over the West Ham keeper and into the net and I cheered and clapped the Chelsea fans who were chanting come on mason get in there and dec just stood shaking his head and I smirk slightly and oli gets the ball and he makes his run and he kicks it and a West Ham player blocks it with his arm and oli said can we check for a hand ball please and the ref agrees and checks and despite the West Ham player said it wasn't a hand ball the ref said nope it's been watched from multiple angles and it's a clear hand ball and we're given a corner and I said timo you ok to take and timo said yeah I'm cool with that and timo takes the ball over to the corner and I organised everyone on the pitch and I signaled to timo that I'm ready and timo raised his arm to sign he was going to kick and the ball came over and I back heel kick the ball into the corner of the net and I was launched into the air and I giggled and then the match was ended and we won 5-0 and we all began jumping and hugging each other and congratulating each other for a great performance and then I walk and clap the fans and I head back to the dressing room and I hear Alex giving a post match interview and he said thanks for the praise but everything you see on the pitch is a result of the hard work that our captain and coach do we're only as good as them and Alex said couldn't have asked for a better mentor and the journalist said ahh the talking of the captain and man of the match a hat trick and an assist a so another award to add to the ever growing collection and the match ball congratulations and I Said thank you but everybody worked so hard and played so well so I am not taking all of the credit but everyone trains and played amazing I'm very proud of all of the efforts tonight now we need to build on this and keep working hard and keep working together and we will do that and the journalist says well thank you both for your time I appreciate you talking with me and I'll let you go and Alex says thank you and he heads off and I saw the journalist take a big breath in and out and I said are you okay and the journalist said yes it's my first day and this is my first match job and I said aw You did so well you were really professional and I really couldn't tell you are a new journalist you did that well here have some of my lucozade hopefully it will help slightly and she said thank you that means so much err and I said oh sorry I'm mason mount and the journalist said Hayley and I said well nice to meet you Hayley you gonna be okay now and she said yes I'll be fine thank you again mason and congratulations on the game and I said thank you and I headed off and made my way to find lynds who didn't take long to find and I dipped my head to rest on her shoulder and I said hey baby and she said hello you amazing game gorgeous and I said thank you darling I have done my interview and picked up my award and the match ball and I heard another familiar voice and I said alright deccers and he said mase bro I thought I said be nice and I said I told you to put on your big boy studs so not my fault is it and dec said you guys need a new midfielder in the next window or something and I said nahh you wouldn't be able to keep up with Chelsea's training schedule and I said plus you wouldn't be able to leave JT anyway and dec said no that's true and I said but maybe you can do an observation session and get some advice from there and dec said yeah that would be nice and I said alright let's go sort it out but I mean you will have to be on time bro and dec said yea yea I will be and as If on cue frank came over and said ello dec and dec said alright lamps and I elbow him in his ribs and say oi respect him and he said dear god that hurts dude was the match not a satisfying enough beating for you ehh and I said right since I had to spend time at his training ground I think he should be shown our training routine fairs fair and all and frank said thats not a bad idea to be fair mase ill get it sorted out with jt we will go from there and dec said err looking forward to it i think and i say see if you are still saying that at the end id definitely bring a notebook if i were you bro you'll need it and your gym stuff too and dec said yeah might give you my spare Stuff just in case and I said okay and soon enough frank came back and said well that's that sorted dec your training with us on Monday morning and dec gulps and said okay see you Monday morning I guess boss and I roll my eyes and dec said What've I done now and I said temporary and dec said oh sorry yes see you on Monday temp boss and we all laughed and I said so id definitely make sure you get a decent lie in bro and dec said yeah I will and I said well we should be getting ourselves back on the coach and lynds said yes we should be heading back and I said sleep well Declan see you Monday morning half 7 yeah and dec said ehh half 7 what's wrong with you lot and I said training starts at 9 but breakfast and briefings start at 8 and dec said ugh I'm regretting agreeing to this idea of yours bro and I said it's gonna be just fine you'll be fine it's just like our youth days and dec said you still ran me into the ground even when my teammate broke your ankle because apparently you score hatricks for fun and I laughed and said this isn't going home and relaxing and getting plenty of sleep and dec said yeah yeah I'm going see ya later mase and we hug and I said now time for us to go home baby and we head to the coach and make our way back to the bridge to come home and we grabbed our suitcases and loaded them in the car and we made our way back home and mum said lovely game sweetheart the kids are fed bathed and in bed and I said they've got the right idea and I made me and lynds a bowl of weetabix and once we ate that we swilled out our bowls and then we went upstairs swilled our mouths out and we changed into our sleep wear we both got into bed got comfy in each other's arms and once we shared a few kisses and our I love yous we both fell asleep
