I had to go back to the hospital today because I was hopefully getting my wires removed from my ankle but I had to have a x-ray to see if the surgery could go ahead I hoped it would I just wanted to start my physiotherapy and get back on the pitch and playing again I was just glad i was only staying the day in hospital and I couldn't wait to get rid of my plaster Nikki and Lottie said they were shocked I didn't get any Chelsea stickers to decorate the plaster with and I said I'm not having Chelsea stickers sacrificed for that and Ryan sat down at the table beside me and ate his shreddies really slowly and was scrolling through tic tok which pissed me off hugely so I gently pushed the bowl closer to the edge of the table without him noticing and then when it was close enough I slapped the bowl which caused the rather full contents to go all over Ryan's lap and soak his Jeans and T-shirt and he jumped up out of the chair and yelled DUDE WHAT THE FUCK and I burst out laughing and I said what bro not my fault you weren't paying attention and mum said Ryan will you pack that in and mase you can behave and all I know it was mean of your brother to eat in front of you knowing full well you can't eat until later when you have recovered from the anaesthetic but there was no need for that both of you apologise now please I roll my eyes and huff out sorry I guess and Ryan said what he said and mum said apologise properly boys I don't want to treat you like children anymore but I will if I have too and I said sorry mum and sorry for tipping your breakfast over you Ryan and Ryan said sorry too metal mase hope your foot melts off and mum just groans I genuinely give up why I thought having two more kids would be a good idea I really don't know and then I hear lynds coming downstairs hey baby what's going on she asked and Ryan stands up and says ask the CHILD himself and I say hey I was putting the FAST into breakfast dearest brother as dust accumulates faster than you eat and then burst out laughing and Ryan scowls at me and lynds just gave me a kiss and said maybe don't eat in front of mase then Ryan and maybe you could try some cheerios since that's what your breakfast has just done and i couldn't hold back the laughter and mum says lynds don't you start your my last chance of a normal child she lightly laughs and Ryan said you bonus child have some very dark thought patterns and lynds just smirks and sticks her tongue out and Ryan heads off stairs and flips me off at the top and I quickly do the same before mum comes back in and said right have you two quite finished being childish and I say yeah for now and then she says right I'm glad there's a pause in your feud mase have you got everything ready for the hospital and I say yep and she says okay we'll be heading off in a bit so make sure you do have everything you want packed and lynds comes back down with my bag and she says yep he's definitely got everything I've checked and mum says thanks love and I say yeah thanks baby I appreciate it and Ryan who's clearly showered and In fresh clothes says oh yeah sure be sweet to her and I say unlike you she actually has supported me by eating later on rather than eating like a fucking sloth and mum said I mean it you two pack now it in one more comment out of either of you and you will get a slap enough is enough And Ryan rolls his eyes and i flip him off again behind mums back and lynds said just putting our bags in the car and she heads off and mum said mase go and get yourself in the car please and I do as I'm told and the girls say good luck mase see you later you'll be fine bud and Ryan said meh they may put your foot on backwards or forget to put it back entirely and I replied with well they obviously forgot to give you your brain back after they were done experimenting on you or maybe they thought ahh he'll only waste it best so just throw it away entirely and mum said I warned you both and mum slapped us both on our necks mason car now move and Ryan said that's the point mum hobbles there can't exactly move and he says snail speed activate btw that's your cue to hop to it RYAN JAMES MOUNT go upstairs now if you can't do anything useful and Ryan heads off upstairs and I head to the car and mum says right let's go and we join lynds in the car and we start to make our way to the hospital and mum parked the car got me out and carried my bag and lynds carried hers and then we made our way to the outpatients department and mum made me and lynd's sit down in some chairs in the waiting room and mum checked me in at the reception and then came and sat beside me and lynds who was sat cross legged colouring in and I scrolled through my social media and then soon enough I hear mason mount and me lynds and mum get up and follow the nurse hey mason I'm Chloe one of the orthopaedic nurses and I'll be keeping an eye on you today and let's get those awful wires out shall we and Chloe noticed my top and said ahh finally someone with a decent team she said corr the amount of Tottenham and Man United shirts I see is criminal I feel like I should be paid extra just for being in the same room as them and I laughed and I said I'm guessing your a blue then and she said of course my dad would have my head he used to work match security at the bridge so i went with him and been a fan ever since when mum was in bed after a night shift on a weekend she's a
doctor and why I became a orthopaedic nurse and I said aww wow that's cool and Chloe said yeah I shadowed the physiotherapist at the bridge in my last year of uni as she's my best friend and she actually inspired me to pick orthopaedics and I said double cool and I said did you get to meet anyone and Chloe said yeah I met a few of the squad lamps and jt were epic and I said your my new favourite medical person ever franks my hero I have pretty much every single replica shirt of his and she said impressive collection and then she said you might want to retract your statement about me being your favourite medical person though I've got to insert your cannula now and I said they don't bother me and she said ahh I wouldn't expect anything but bravery from a fellow blue and Chloe got the stuff ready and prepared my and and placed my cannula in my hand and my patient wrist band and said there we've labled ya so if we loose you we might be able to to trace you and return you but can't quite guarantee anything and now that's those bits done then she said right you let's get you sorted out and settled in your room unfortunately the Chelsea decorations are sparse but there's football curtains in your room or we could always give you pretty pink flowery ones and I said the football ones will be fine and Chloe said and who are the wonderful ladies that you have with you and I said this is my wonderful mum she's called grace and this is my incredible girlfriend Lyndsey but call her lynds she hates her full name and lynds smiles beside me and Chloe says hi and she I know the feeling I don't like my name either so I prefer Chlo and she said unfortunately mason I'm Going to have to make you choose who stays and I said lynds is staying and mum said yeah my mase is pretty set in his ways and he's a lot more cooperative when lynds is near or with him and Chloe said aww bless fair enough well when you are in theatre later on rest assured I'll look after lynds for you and this caused me to smile and then Chloe says right this is hotel nhs ortho's finest suite so pop your bits anywhere you like and get your self comfy and I'll pop back and get you in an bit for your pre op X-ray buzz if you need us but please allow us coffee slots and I said thanks Chlo and she smiled softly at the fact that I remembered her preferred name and I sat on the bed and lynds plugged our iPad in and connected it to the wifi and mum said right darling I'm just going to let everyone know that your here and settled so if they want to FaceTime you they can do so I'll be five minutes okay and I nod and mum heads off and lynds gets on the bed beside me and says looking forward to being freed from your plaster once youve healed up from this op babe and I said like you wouldn't believe darling my legs so itchy and lynds says two seconds and placed a pillow on the bed and then said put your foot up babe and I do as instructed and lynds starts blowing down my plaster cast and I lay back and ohh you little miracle worker thanks baby it feels so much better already and she said ah trick of the trade never once failed me and then mum came back and err what on earth and lynds Said no one showed poor mase how to deal with an itch under his plaster cast aww bless feeling more
comfortable now though love and I nod and mum says good I'm glad right every one will call you once you've recovered from the anaesthetic and then Chloe came back with a wheelchair right mase x-rays ready for you now and then she said lynds you can follow if you like and lynd's follows holding my hand and occasionally running her fingers across it and I hear a soft aww from Chloe and we headed to the X-ray department and Chloe got a machine and she said just scanning your band mason so it says you've had your pre op X-ray and then we'll head in alright and then Chloe types a few things into her iPad and then opens the doors to the X-ray suite and she says ready and I go to kiss lynds and she said don't worry we do things slightly differently over here and passed lynds a vest she can actually come in with you and i let out a breath right then let's get the party started shall we and Chloe helps me on to the bed and said we'll be as quick as we can and lynds and Chloe stand behind the screen and Chloe reappears briefly to set my leg into a new position and then goes back behind the screen and then says final one and then we've got a pretty set of pictures of your ankle and the final x-rays taken and I'm taken back to my room right mase is it alright if I call you mase and I say yeah it's fine and Chloe says good right we're going to send those to your surgeon and he'll be up to do pre op checks and a chat in a while alright and i say thanks chlo and she says if either of you want anything just buzz and she heads off and mum says you want anything else brought in love and I said nope think I've got everything I want to be honest mum and I cuddle lynd's tighter as she'd gotten on the bed beside me and had fallen asleep and she says fair enough love and she said why don't you try and follow Lynds's example and try and get some sleep and if the doctor comes I'll nudge you awake and i nod and I close my eyes and then an hour and a half later mums softly stroking my cheek and saying hiya love you've got to wake up now the doctors here and I open my eyelids and slightly adjust my position hello again mason dr Payne says so just like before we'll take you down to theatre pop you under the sedition and then we'll remove the wires and then re x ray to make sure everything is as it should be and then you'll have another plaster on for a bit as the area will be a bit sensitive during the healing process and then you'll come through to recovery and then once we're happy you've recovered from the anaesthesia you can be discharged and go home and finish your recovery there and then
We will only see you for physiotherapy alright happy with whats going to happen and I nod and dr Payne says again Lyndsey can't come with you into theatre so not sure how she's like to wake up and lynds said I am awake just happen to be cozy and dr Payne said jeez thought you were asleep sorry Lyndsey and she says no worries and like last time I'll be out side those theatre doors and he said fair enough and I guess I will see you both in a hour I said see you then and mum said I'll just go and update everyone before you head down and I say okay tell everyone I say hi and mum says she will and lynds says just popping in to the loo to change babe I say okay darling and she heads off to change and when she's done I go to the loo and then I change into the hospital gown so I'm ready for the theatre and then me and lynds work our way through some friends episodes and when we finish the last episode the porters and Chloe arrived and Chloe says heya mase we're ready for you down in theatre now and Chloe says lynds you walking down with us or staying put and she says She'll stay where she is and mum gives me a quick hug and a kiss and said see you later on love and hugs lynds and then we're wheeled through the hospital and to the theatre and a porter helps lynds off the bed and she gives me a kiss and says I'm here baby I promise you and I'm taken into theatre and dr Payne says this operation is a lot quicker this time mason honestly and Chloe says before we get you comfy let's scan that band of yours so we can tick off another box on the makeing mason better checklist and then I'm transferred onto the actual operating table and the medication is put through my cannula and the mask placed on my face and then a few hours later I feel some very familiar hands stroking my cheeks and every now and then a kiss is placed on my temple and I croak out hey baby and Chloe says welcome back to the living mase unfortunately there's no flying cars but your op was textbook perfect and ya bones look healthy again so a good day for all yeah and i nod sleepily and then cough slightly and Chloe says ahh yeah the old anaesthesia come down it's a killa Do you want your water plain and cold or nhs plain aka slightly warm jug water and I croak out plain and cold please and Chloe said coming right up lynds do you want a juice or tea coffee or water and I said I'll join mase with a water please Chlo and she said sure thing I'll be back in a flash and five minutes later she says right let's sit you up slightly mase so you don't wear the water your not a fish and she sat me up and said comfy enough and I nod and she said slow small sips just to re moisten that throat back up and I do this for half the cup and Chloe says how you feeling pain wise and I said yeah pretty good and Chloe says fab news that's what I like to hear right when your ready fancy a hot drink and some biscuits just to get that bit passed and I nod and she comes over and says right it's slightly milky but it's so it discusses the poor quality of tea bag and I take a few sips and have a biscuit and then finish the cup and Chloe says beautifully done right we'll just keep you here for another 10 minutes or so just to be sure you haven't grown any extra limbs or no parts of you have changed colour and if you pass that test we'll send you packing aka get you back home and I nod and lynd's says I'll just go let mum know how your doing okay babe and I nod and finished off my biscuits and then Chloe came and said congratulations mase you've been promoted to your normal room and have been chosen for discharge well once lynds is back of course and soon enough lynd's reappears hiya babe and Chloe says ahh just in time mase here has recovered nicely so we're happy enough to send him back to his room and then a doctor will discharge him and lynds said ahh that's great baby and soon enough we were back in the room and lynd's helped me to change into my shorts and a fresh Chelsea t shirt and then we packed everything up and then mum arrived and the doctor followed closely behind her hello mason I'm doctor fletch so we're really pleased with how your op went and the post op X-rays look great so and you've recovered nicely so we're happy for you to go home I say great thank you and Chloe comes in and says right mase I've got some pain relief for you so you are now free to depart to home comforts and I say thank you Chlo you've been great and she says aw I do try hope the recovery is a smooth one and hopefully it's a while before we cross paths again good luck guys and take care and I say you too and then I say right baby I believe our bed is calling us and Lynds passed me my crutches and said it definitely is baby and I say dominoes chicken nuggets and chicken wings and then bed and lynds said you've read my mind babe and mum helps us with our stuff again and we head back to the car and we get home and everyone says heya mase how's it gone Lottie asks and say it's gone really well and everything looks good so I'm happy but even happier to be home and in a much lighter cast and Blake says oww and I say yeah bud uncle maseys got an owwie but it's ok I've had a little sleep and I'm now all better but I've just got to wear this super special bandage to keep all the feel better powder and get well soon cream in and then I'll be able to take it off and he hugs me and says yay and Nikki says glad it's gone well mase and I say thanks and  Ryan welcome back captain pogo and I put a crutch on his foot and say why don't you see how it feels ehh ry and mum says boys don't start on each other please masons been in the door less than five minutes and yet you start a fight and I can't cope so mase lynds why don't you go and get comfy in your room and I'll bring your food up and then Ryan just do something that doesn't involve irritating your brother please and thank you and me and lynds do exactly that and we eat our food and then we hug and kiss until we feel sleepy and with the early start and lack of food until just now catching up to us we give each other a final deep kiss and say our I love yous and then we get under the covers and fall asleep
