ANGELO ROI
"Did we not discuss this already?" I inquired with an irate tone. "I distinctly informed you of my desire for a 90 percent share. If you can convince the others to step aside and sell their holdings to me, that would be even more advantageous. I insist, nothing less will suffice. I hope that is perfectly clear."
"Of course, of course. I was just trying to confirm. Malaki-laking pera din kasi ang kakailanganin mo dito. Maige nang malinaw."
"You appear to be the only one attempting to complicate matters. I made my intentions abundantly clear from the outset. Allow me to reiterate, I possess loads of money at my disposal, in case you have not deduced this yet. Financial concerns should be the least of your worries."
"Alam ko." he responded, attempting to suppress a chuckle. "That's why hindi ako nagkamali na ikaw ang pinili ko na kausapin tungkol dito. Okay then. 90 percent it will be."
"Or potentially more."
"Yeah. Yeah."
"How certain are you that he will sign the documents without harboring suspicions?" I questioned. "While he may lack experience, I do not believe him to be so gullible as to be deceived by your tactics."
The voice on the other end emitted a laugh. "You're clearly overestimating your brother. He's not as good as you think he is. Just wait and see, Mr. Lucas. Everything will go perfectly according to our plan."
"If you say so," I remarked dryly. "Kindly keep me informed."
Ending the call, I gazed at my phone and pondered. This old man had really lost the plot.
I can only hope that events transpire favorably, even if it necessitates sacrifices for the greater good.
Releasing a sigh, I settled into my office chair, clasping my hands behind my head and propping my feet onto the table.
"Alexa," I prompted, triggering the blue light atop my smart device. "Please resume the music."
The music resumed its play, picking up where I had paused it during Mr. Lim's call.
♫I watched you go
Taking my heart with you
Oh, yes you didEverytime I try to reach you on the phone
Baby you're never there
Oh, you're never homeSo if I did something wrong please tell me
I wanna understand
'Cause I don't want this love to ever end
No no noAnd I swear, if you come back in my life
I'll be there 'til the end of time, oh yeah
And I swear, I'll keep you right by my side
'Cause baby you're the one I want
Oh, yes you areI closed my eyes. Ricco's song was undeniably rending my heart. The ache within while listening to it was truly profound. Was this truly intended for me? Did he genuinely record this song to convey his sentiments to me?
But then I recollected that little scene at the resort - when Ricco was kissed by that Pyponco dimbo. I didn't know how to feel, so I simply walked away.
My thoughts were disrupted as my phone rang again. I opened my eyes to discern the caller. It was Uncle Marco. I answered the call without pausing the music.
"Good morning, Un-" I hesitated, as this marked the initial conversation following our prior 'exchange'. Given that he hadn't conversed with me at the resort, and considering the foolish things Mark and I made and said to Ricco and his driver while intoxicated, I assumed he might still be vexed. "Good morning, Sir."
