CHAPTER 6

KING

"Mon dieu." I said as he came closer. My heart was already beating rapidly. I couldn't believe it. The handsome boy who drove me crazy while I was fitting my shoes the previous day was right in front of me. "He's here, Jane."

"Apparently." she said as she smiled. She looked at the boy. "Come, join us."

But he didn't move and just stared at me so I stood and offered a handshake. "Hi. S'assoir."

"King, chill. And in English, please." said Jane.

"Yeah. Of course." I said as I was catching my breath. "I'm sorry. Sit down, please."

He sat in a chair next to Carl though there was a lot of room beside me. I don't know, but it seemed like he didn't want to come near me.

"Hi, I'm Jane. These are my friends Irene, Roger, Rhod, Clarisse, Nicole, Elaine, and Carl." She looked at me. "And this is my best friend King."

He smiled but didn't say anything. I wasn't sure if it was just me or his smile really made him more beautiful.

"You..want anything?" I asked. "A drink, perhaps?"

He shook his head and with one eyebrow raised, looked at me straight in the eyes. "Ayoko, salamat. Gawin na natin kung ano ang ipinunta ko dito. Sayang ang oras. Siguro naman, nasabi na sa inyo ng manager ko na bukod pa yung binayad niyo sa kanya sa ibabayad niyo sa akin. Depende sa kung anong serbis ang gagawin ko kung ano ang magiging rate ko."

I nodded and I tried to smile. "Don't worry. Just name your price."

He raised his eyebrow even higher. And then he looked at Jane's gay friends. "Sino sa inyo ang kliyente ko?" He looked at the girls and eyed the gentlemen suspiciously. "Wag niyong sabihing lahat kayo."

"No, Bro." said Roger. He looked harassed. "Are you out of your mind?"

"Eh sino nga?"

I stood. "It's me."

He looked at me again and I was hoping he would look away. I couldn't explain the intense feeling that was building inside me. "We have to get out of here. I have to bring you somewhere else. Are you OK with that?"

He nodded and got up and without a word, went out the door.

"I better go." I said. "Thanks, everyone."

"Good luck, King." said Jane. "Show him you're a king."

"Thanks, I think I really need that boost now." I whispered. I waved at everyone. "Bye guys."

"Bye, King. Take care." one of Jane's friends said. Hindi ko na nakita kung sino because I went out of the room already, where Kyle was waiting.

I looked at him and tried my best to act normally when truth be told, I was trembling. "Let's go."

I walked to the elevator and he just followed me. He didn't say anything even when we were inside the lift. I just looked at him as he checked his reflection on the steel wall. We walked to the basement to the parking space and towards my car. I opened the door to the front seat and looked at him.

"Get in."

He did and I closed the car door after him. I took a deep breath before I opened the door to the driver's seat. I was nervous as fuck. This is it. I took a handsome guy named Kyle home tonight.

Hindi pangkaraniwan iyon. Kadalasan ay sa paupahang kwarto lang ng club, o di kaya'y sa malalapit na motel lang ako dinadala ng mga kliyenteng naglalabas sa akin. Bihirang bihira ang pagkakataong gaya nito na sasakay ako sa isang magandang kotse, papunta sa mas malayong lugar.
