AYLA
"I have a suprise for you." Nate jogged towards me.
I raised my eyebrows. "Suprise?"
He nodded, panting. A tear of sweat roll down his forehead and he gave me a box wrapped in gift pack.
Huh?
"Open." He said.
I unwrapped it and found a box of freshly made cookies. The scent of coffee and chocolate scattered in the air.
"I bought it from the nearby bakery." He added.
I took a bite of the cookie and oddly, it didn't taste good. It was bitter. Too much coffee, too less sweetness and too much of dark chocolate. Ah, it tastes horrible.
I plastered a fake smile on my face. "Thankyou? Where did you buy from?"
"It was good, right?" He asked, instead.
"Uh-huh. It was edible." I smiled, offering him one of the cookies to taste.
He didn't take it. "No, you eat. It was for you."
Okay.
"Nate, are you hiding something from me?" I asked to which he shook his head in denial but his body language told me that he was definitely hiding something.
"Okay, fine. We baked it together for you." He said after I looked at him, suspiciously.
"We means? You and Axel baked these for me?" My heart warmed and I couldn't help but smile at him.
He nodded.
"And someone started caring for me, huh?" I teased him to get a reaction out of him but if only it was that easy.
"I feel nothing." He shrugged.
"And it's completely okay to not feel anything as long as you aren't suffering from inside, Nate." I ruffled his aur to which his body stiffened for a second.
I quickly pulled my hand back. "I'm sorry."
I've figured out that he hates any sort of physical contact. But I get it, his childhood wasn't full of joys and laughters.
He sat next to me on the terrace and stared at the open sky. The sun was about to settle and the weather was fine. "But I liked when you took care of me. Nobody had shown me compassion before but you took me to your house when I was wounded and got me treated. Remember when you asked me that why I didn't feel like killing you? It wasn't completely because you make Axel happy. It was also because I think you're nice."
After hearing him, my heart swell with happy emotions. I wanted to tell him that I consider him family and that I'd always do my my best to make him feel safe with me but instead, I decided just to ruffle his hair and surprisingly this time he didn't get uncomfortable. "The cookies tasted horrible." I chuckled.
"See, I know but Axel is crazy for you. I told him not to do any experiment but he told me flatly either to help him or fuck off." He snorted.
"Did you guys forget to add sugar?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Dr. Ayla, that man is crazy. He's going to prepare dinner for us. Be careful." Nate looked horrified.
I doubled over laughter. "Oh, god."
