Warnings: None
Author's Note: I finally have internet back on campus. Also, I just watched season 3 episode 9 last night and am in denial about it. If you know you know.
I sit numb as our carriage bounces along the road jostling me side to side as we get closer to our destination. My parents had arranged a marriage for me to Robb Stark of Winterfell. My parents wanted an alliance with the North and the best way to do that was by marrying me off.
Our carriage comes to a stop and I feel nerves fill my stomach and I begin fidgeting. Immediately Mother snaps, "Stop. Enough of that Y/N." I am immediately still before our carriage door is open. My father helps my mother out first before I step out myself. I look around and my eyes take in the muddy ground, gray skies, and the bland colors of the castle. I follow my mother and father as they walk down the aisle of people until they get to the end. My father faces a group of people respectfully bows his head and says, "Lord Stark. I would like to introduce my wife Lady Y/M/N and my daughter Y/N. And I would like to thank you for allowing us into your home." I step forward and bow just like my father. Lord Stark speaks up and says, "The honor is mine. May I introduce my wife Lady Stark, my eldest son Robb Stark, my second oldest son Jon Snow, my oldest daughter Sansa Stark, my third son Bran, my second daughter Arya, and my youngest Rickon." My head is reeling at the amount of names that I will have to remember I hear Lord Stark say, "Robb will you step forward." I watch as he steps forward and I take in his tall muscular build, icy blue eyes, and brown hair so dark it looks black. I step forward and I watch as his eyes quickly look me over and I can't help but feel a little self-conscious. I watch as my father and Lord Stark walk inside discussing when the wedding should take place.
I had been in Winterfell for a few days now and had somewhat well. I was walking through the grounds when I see Arya in the training area with a sword. I walk over and ask, "What are you doing?" She looks at me before replying, "I'm practicing with my sword." I smile at her before replying, "Well perhaps I could train with you." She looks me up and down before scoffing and saying, "Like you would know anything about using a sword." I smirk at her, before replying, "Just because I look like a proper lady doesn't mean I act like one." She smirks back at me before going and grabbing a spare sword from one of the racks and bringing it over to me. I take it from her hand feeling the weight in my hand and quickly familiarize myself with it. Back at home, I had taken it upon myself to train with the soldiers much to my parent's disapproval but I had decided it was important that I know how to defend myself.
Arya and I face each other each of us in a fighting stance. I eye her form and notice her standing to the side creating a smaller target but that wouldn't be a problem. I watch as she eyes me waiting for me to make the first move but I don't give her the satisfaction instead I fake with my right and to my delight she falls for it going to strike where I was but I'm already moving out of the way with my sword and when she stands up facing me her sword is at her neck. She looks surprised but shakes it off before going to attack me again and I quickly block it we go back and forth for a bit before I disarm her sending her sword sliding through the mud. She looks from me to the sword and begins moving towards it but I block her, I watch as she grabs a knife from her belt and begins to swing it at me. I drop the sword in favor of using my hands to block her attacks and I grab her wrist and spin her around so her back is to my chest while I have the hand holding the knife in mine pressed against her throat. I hear her say, "I yield." I let her go and she turned to face me with her face shining as she said, "Perhaps I underestimated you." I laugh at her comment and before she walks off I hear her say, "Perhaps having you as a sister-in-law won't be that bad." She picks up her sword and walks inside. I put mine back in the rack oblivious to the eyes on us from the balcony.
Robb's POV: I'm walking with Jon outside along the wooden balcony overlooking the training yard and I'm talking to him about my upcoming wedding which I am not happy about. I say, "I don't know why father chose her. I mean she seems just like every other lady." I wait for a response from Jon only to be met with, "She might surprise you." I look and see him looking over the edge of the balcony at something in the training yard. I follow his line of vision down and it is only when I see Arya fighting someone in the yard that I register the faint sound of steel hitting steel. I see Arya fighting what looks to be another girl with y/h/c and as I look closer I realize that it's Y/N. I turn to Jon and ask, "Am I seeing things, or is that Y/N." He turns to me with a smirk and says, "No that's Y/N." We watch as they go back and forth until Y/N spins Arya around and holds her knife to her throat. After a few seconds, she lets Arya go. Arya says something to her that we can't hear before walking back into the castle. Jon and I watch as Y/N puts the sword back before walking back into the castle herself. Jon turns to me with a smirk before patting me on the shoulder and walking past me and I can't help but think that maybe this marriage won't be so bad after all.
Your POV: I sit at the head table next to Robb looking over the hall that is filled with talking and laughter. I look over and see my mother in deep conversation with Lady Stark while my father talks to Lord Stark. I stare down at my plate of food that I've barely touched when I hear from next to me, "Are you alright?" I look over and see Robb looking at me with concern and I reply, "Yes my lord. I'm just not very hungry." He lets out a soft laugh and says, "Please, call me Robb." I incline my head in agreement and I go to take a bite of food but before I can put it in my mouth I hear Robb say casually, "I saw you in the training yard with Arya." I feel my face flame and I manage to stutter out, "I'm sorry. I wasn't aware that anyone was watching." He lets out another laugh, this one louder than the last as he says, "No don't be sorry it's refreshing seeing a girl know how to fight. And besides I'm sure Arya appreciates it." I look down at the table and see her not wearing a dress and when she sees me looking she sends me a big smile. I lean back in my chair and think maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
