Summary: You're in an arranged marriage to Paul.

Warnings: None

Author's Note: Good evening or good morning depending on where you are reading this from. Yes, I am alive. Sorry for not posting the last few days but I have been very busy with school. Between today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday), I had/have three different tests, two of which are in my hardest classes. Also Saturday I had four hours of testing for learning disabilities and I also more than likely have ADHD so that's super fun. Also, I have started reading Dune, so here we go with this.

My mom smooths my dress before tucking a loose piece of hair back into place. Today was the day I would be meeting my future husband. My parents had decided to marry me off to the heir to the Atredis house. I had never met him before, not only would I be married as my parents wished but it would be a good political alliance for us.

Our ship lands before falling silent as the engines shut off. My mother and father stand in front of me as the ramp lowers to reveal the scenery of Caladan. I follow my parents off the ship as I take my first step on what would become my new home. I'm not able to see much from behind my parents but my father shakes hands with Duke Leto before acknowledging the woman standing next to him. I'd heard about her, Lady Jessica who was a Bene Gesserate but wasn't married to the Duke.

My parents moved out of the way once the pleasantries were exchanged and I stepped forward. I bow to both of them. I see Lady Jessica smile at me kindly while Duke Leto keeps any emotion off his face. I feel butterflies forming in my stomach as they step aside to reveal my future husband.

I'm pleasantly surprised when I see him as I was half expecting someone much older. He looks about my age, with dark brown curls that look about as fluffy as a cloud, and green eyes. He looks rather calm as he steps forward and takes my hand before kissing the back of it.

I'm flattered at the gesture and I say, "Pleased to meet you."

I see him smile at my words before he says, "Please, call me Paul. We are to be married after all."

I'm taken aback by his willingness to be so casual with me since I know most husbands don't want their wives to call them by their first name. While our parents go to talk Paul shows me around the castle.

As Paul shows me around I find him easy to talk to and I feel myself growing comfortable around him. Paul has a look about him like he knows things that no one else does and he holds himself high but not with arrogance. By the time we arrive at my chambers where I'll be staying, I'm thoroughly surprised by how Paul has treated me this whole time.

As we stop outside my door Paul faces me as he says, "I know the situation isn't ideal but I want you to feel comfortable here and like this could be your home."

I nod, happy with his hospitality and willingness to see me comfortable. He continues, "I know you probably aren't happy with the arranged marriage, but I want you to give it. I mean us, me a chance at the possibility of actually getting married for love."

I see him looking a little embarrassed by what he just said and I say, "I think I can manage that."

He gives me a relieved smile before bowing and walking down the hall. As I listen to his retreating footsteps I think to myself that maybe this wouldn't be as bad as I thought.
