Summary: How you fell in love with your boyfriend Elijah.

We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes and the flashback starts I'm standing there. 

I stare out my window overlooking the street when my eye lands on a young man with longer brown hair that is swept back. He stops and his brown eyes drift up to meet mine. I feel my cheeks warm and he quickly looks away before moving on. 

On a balcony in summer air. See the lights, see the party, the ballgowns see you make your way through the crowd to say "Hello."

I stand on the balcony overlooking the ballroom as I watch young men and women waltz around the floor. I'm so busy watching them that I don't hear someone coming up from behind me until they clear their throat. I turn and see the young man whom I had spotted on the street a few days ago. He bows and says, "Elijah Mikaelson darling." 

I curtsy as I say, "Y/N." He holds out his hand as he asks, "May I have this dance?" I nod and take his hand as he leads me down to the dance floor. 

That you were Romeo and you were throwing pebbles and my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet." 

Since dancing with Elijah at the ball we had been spending more and more time together much to my father's disapproval. My father had asked me into his study to discuss something with me. I stand across from him as he sits behind his desk and says, "I don't want you to see that boy again." I stare at him in disbelief and feel tears starting to fall down my cheeks and I quickly leave. 

I was crying on the staircase begging you please don't go.

I stand on the front steps of my house as Elijah bids me farewell with regret in his eyes. I say in a broken voice, "Do you have to go?" He nods sadly before turning around and I watch as he walks down the street getting smaller and smaller. 

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting all that's left to do is run you be the prince and I'll be the princess it's a love story baby just say "yes." 

Elijah writes me letters of his travels and promises that he'll come back for me. I hide the letters under a loose board on my floor. All I can do is hope that he keeps his promise and comes back to me. 

So I sneak out to the garden to see you we keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew. 

Elijah told me he was coming back so as soon as I know everyone is asleep I sneak out of my room and to the garden. I wander around for a few before I see Elijah. He's standing under a tree, his hair is shorter but he looks the same. 

I rush over to him and we kiss hidden by the shadow of the tree. We spend the night out under the tree making sure to be quiet so my dad doesn't know. 

Romeo save me they're trying to tell me how to feel this love is difficult but it's real. Don't be afraid we'll make it out of this mess. 

All through the town, everyone kept telling me to stay away from Elijah and that I'll just get my heart broken but I know that he loves me.  

I sneak out of my house once more to go meet Elijah. I find him in his usual spot and he hugs me. I ask, "How are we going to be together?" He says, "Don't worry darling I have something in mind okay?" I nod and he takes my hand before walking me to a hill and we spend the night looking at the stars. 

But I got tired of waiting. Wondering if you were ever coming around my faith in you was fading. When I met you on the outskirts of town I said, "Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you but you never come is this in my head I don't know what to think." 

I pack a bag with most of my belongings and don't bother to leave a note for my father. I make my way downstairs and outside. I begin running to the edge of town to meet Elijah. I find him leaning against the wall and I feel myself relax at seeing him. 

I begin to speak quickly, "Elijah I don't know what to do. I want to be with you but you haven't made any indication that you want to be with me and I can't wait forever." He takes my hand and I stop my rambling. 

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said Marry me Juliet you'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know. I talked to your dad go pick out a white dress it's a love story baby just say, "Yes." 

I watch as he kneels to the ground and pulls a small ring from his pocket. "I don't want you to be alone anymore. I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, y/f/n will you marry me?" I nod my head as he slips the ring on my finger, I ask, "What about my dad?" He looks at me and shakes his head before interlacing his fingers with mine. 

I feel arms wrap around my waist and feel a chin being placed on my shoulder and I see my husband Elijah. He asks, "What are you thinking about darling?" I simply say, "Nothing just when we first met." I can see the corners of his mouth turn up in a smile before he kisses my cheek.
