Summary: The final part of my previous Coriolanus Snow imagines.
Warnings: Spoilers for a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! Mentions of death and guns.
Author's Note: Okay my lovely readers here is the final part of the Young!Coriolanus Snow series (unless you request a fourth part) I am changing the ending of the book a little.
I carefully plan my outfit for tonight trying to look my best for Corio. I arrive at the Hob and everyone is already dancing and I scan the crowd looking for Corio. My eyes find him along the wall but before I can go toward him he is walking along the wall towards a back door.
Curious, I follow him and find myself in a hall with rooms on one side. I hear voices coming from one of the rooms so I walk over and open the door. Once the door is open and I step in I come face to face with the barrel of a gun. I instantly freeze feeling panic build in my chest until Corio steps in front of me blocking me from view.
I press myself closer to Corio as he exchanges words with the other people in the room. I see movement out of the corner of my eye and see Mayfield, the Mayor's daughter step forward. She begins to argue with her boyfriend Billy Taupe before she turns to run.
Before she can get too far someone grabs a gun and a shot rings out in the small space as she falls to the ground dead. Corio quickly spins around and clutches me to his chest. He grabs my arms firmly as he says, "Hey look at me."
I look at him and see determination in his icy blue eyes as he says quickly but firmly, "Go home and pack a bag with anything you can and wait for me okay." I nod and he quickly smashes his lips to mine in a quick and hasty kiss before I turn around and begin running.
I make it home and quickly grab my trusty bag and throw some clothes, food, and a few sentimental items as well. Anything I can't fit in the bag will just have to be left behind. I'm breathing heavily and jump when I hear a knock at my door. I freeze where I'm standing hoping they'll go away but the knocking comes again leaving me panicked until I hear, "It's me."
I let out a sigh of relief as I went to the door and opened it to reveal Corio. He looks me up and down quickly before grabbing my hand and running with me through the streets of District 12. We come to a stop at the fence and I climb through first with him following behind me.
We walk into the woods and we begin walking the familiar path to the cabin by the lake. This walk is a stark contrast to the last time we were here. After about an hour of walking, we arrived at the cabin.
Corio and I walk inside to get out of the chilly night air that had fallen over the district and the woods. We get some light in the cabin and I'm still a little cold and Corio strips off his jacket and wraps it around me while he takes my hands in his to warm them. I ask, "What are we going to do out here?"
He looks at me with his gorgeous blue eyes as he says, "We're going to stay out here." I stare at him in disbelief.
I ask, "But what about your family? Your job as a peacekeeper?" He shakes his head before placing his hands on my cheeks as he looks deep into my y/e/c eyes and he says, "I don't care about any of that. You are the most important thing in my life. I've never felt this way about someone before and I'm not about to risk losing you. I love you."
I stare at him stunned by his confession and I ask, "You mean you're willing to give up your life and family for me?" He nods his head before resting his forehead against mine as he says, "I've already lost so much and I won't lose you too."
With that, he picks me up by the back of my legs aggressively kissing me all over my cheeks, lips, and neck. He pins me to the wall still kissing me. When we're both breathless he lets me back down on the floor before fishing in his pockets and pulling out a small box.
The next thing I know he's dropping down to one knee and opening the lid of the box to reveal a ring. I bring my hands up to cover my mouth as Corio says, "I want to spend the rest of my life out here, in this cabin with you. So will you marry me?"
I nod and he stands up and slips the ring on my finger, I look down at it and ask, "Where did you get it?" He smiles at me and rubs his thumb across my cheek as he says, "It was my mother's. My grandma gave it to me before I left."
He kisses my forehead lovingly before he says, "Come one future, Mrs. Snow, let's go to bed." He takes my head and we walk hand in hand towards the bedroom and all I can think is, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life here.
