Just before panic set in, I quickly pushed Jungkook away from me and towards door.
"Quick, sit down and buckle up!" I commanded him, opening the other two doors and leading all the guys to their seats before staggering towards the cockpit to ask the pilots what was going on.
"Mina, move the passengers as far back as possible. There's room for another 6 people near the galley, and there are two seats in the kitchen. One of our engines is on fire, and the other is about to fail. We're looking for an island for an emergency landing. Secure the galley so nothing flies around, and stay back there, head between your knees... but you already know that," the captain shouted at me, and I nodded quickly, closing the door and running back to the guys where I desperately held onto a seat to keep from falling as we were being shaken violently.
"We need to make an emergency landing. You'll have to come all the way to the back; it might not be as comfortable as here, but it's much safer," I called out with a strained voice, watching as the guys struggled to get up and followed me with fearful faces. The row next to the galley filled up quickly, leaving only one seat left, which meant someone had to come with me into the kitchen. I simply grabbed the first person standing nearby and pulled them into the seat next to mine before securing all cabinet doors as Mina had shown me in the video and then sitting down myself.
"Head down, between your knees," I called out, but then I remembered their manager who was still sitting in the front row asleep. Just as I was about to unfasten my seatbelt and stand up to somehow drag him over, the person next to me took my hand, seeking comfort.
"No, please... please stay seated with me. I don't want to die alone. There's no more space here anyway, and you'll be putting yourself in danger if you get up again. Can you please hold my hand?" he asked, and for the first time, I looked at him. His eyes were glistening with tears, and I could see the fear in them, instantly melting my heart. It was Jimin, desperately clinging to my hand, and I tried to relax his grip a little so that our fingers intertwined, smiling at him reassuringly. Fuck it, if it was my fate to comfort Park Jimin before I died and not let him die alone, then so be it. There was hardly a better way to die. Besides, he was right; the manager was safer strapped in at the front than unsecured at the back where there were no more seats available.
"We're not going to die today, trust the pilots. They've handled worse situations before. Emergency landings happen more often than crashes. T-try to think positively... we can do this," I encouraged him, stuttering slightly myself as the constant shaking of the jet was taking its toll on me too. He gratefully squeezed my hand before settling back into a safe position, which I did as well. We heard one of the guys sobbing loudly, others trying to comfort him, fearful gasps of air, and then Jungkook started softly singing "Magic Shop." It didn't take long for the others to join in, and unintentionally, I also revealed myself as an Army by singing along. Surprisingly, it calmed me down, and even the sobbing became quieter, which I identified as Taehyung's.
Due to the sudden descent, my ears popped and dizziness overwhelmed me. Then the plane stabilized again, hopefully gliding towards an island with completely failed engines, but I remained hopeful since the landing gear was deployed. One last time, I tightened my grip on Jimin's hand, which he immediately reciprocated when a strong rumbling shook through the aircraft. We must have touched down, but it wasn't as gentle as a normal landing; we suddenly hit something and the plane came to an abrupt stop. Without our seatbelts, we would have been thrown across the cabin. As I was thrown back into my seat with a jolt, everything around me turned black...
