Of course I immediately understood what he meant, but Namjoon just looked after me in bewilderment as I ran off... he probably thought we'd gone mad and were playing tag. Hobi waited until I had reached the tree line, then he set off, slowly at first, keeping an eye on what I was seeing as I kept looking around. But I shouldn't concentrate on that, I should rather think about an escape route, because I didn't want to make it too easy for him and I didn't want to surrender voluntarily. You appreciate a hard-to-catch prey much more when you've finally caught it, don't you? I didn't feel so threatened yet, he was still walking comfortably, giving me a head start as we both knew he was much faster than me. There was no point in following the path towards the lake, that's where he would suspect me first, so I continued straight ahead and as soon as I could no longer see him, I crawled between the bushes and ran in the opposite direction, trying to be as quiet as possible so that he wouldn't hear me. Unfortunately, the undergrowth here was very dense and it cracked softly with almost every step. I didn't know how well he could hear, but if he stopped and listened, he would be able to spot me quickly. So I changed my plan again, thinking feverishly about where I could go to make less noise. The beach wasn't a good idea because it was too open there, he could see me from far away and my footprints would also give me away. Then I remembered the center of the island with the large clearing and the extensive meadow, but there were also bushes and trees scattered around that could offer me protection. What's more, the grass would muffle my steps. After a few minutes, during which I kept changing direction, occasionally throwing stones away from me to confuse him, I reached the clearing and hid in the thicket. I hadn't been able to fool him for long, because I saw him through the branches as he also came into the meadow, now no longer walking comfortably, he jogged to the middle, stopped and looked around. My breathing quickened because I had also run here and I quickly pressed a hand over my mouth so that my loud breathing wouldn't give me away. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the area and suddenly he crept quietly to the bushes I was sitting behind.
My heart beat faster with every step he took and I hoped he wouldn't catch me so soon. He hadn't spotted me yet and I tried to crawl on all fours to the next row of trees, so deep in the grass that it was hard for him to spot me, when he parted the branches of the bush that was now right behind me and I heard him chuckle softly. He had seen me... Adrenaline pumped through my veins and made me react quickly, so I jumped up and ran off without looking back at him, but he sprinted after me too. I knew I wouldn't be able to avoid him for long, but I tried to shake him off by running around trees, holding on to branches and letting go just before he got there so that they hit him, then ducking under low-hanging branches, which I could leave behind me much faster because I was a lot smaller, grinning with satisfaction every time I put some distance between us again and every little success made me giggle happily. At first it had felt like I had to escape at all costs, but now I realized that there was no escape anyway, but putting obstacles in his way and tricking him made me laugh and giggle... I hadn't had this much fun for a long time. But at some point, just as I was about to circle another tree, he saw through my maneuver and jumped to the other side, came towards me and suddenly stood in front of me. Startled, I gasped as he grabbed me and tried to wriggle free from him, accidentally kicking him in the shin.
"You little wildcat... I think someone needs to be tamed first." he remarked with a grin, tightening his grip a little. But he hadn't expected me to drop like a wet sack, pulling him with me and getting free from him due to the surprise effect. I scrambled away from him, but he had caught himself far too quickly, spun around in a flash and grabbed my ankles, which he immediately pulled back again, while I squealed and tried to fight back, he turned me onto my back and sat on my hips before holding my hands above my head with one hand and grabbing a piece of rope from his trouser pocket with the other. As he tied my hands at the joints, he came very close to my ear.
"Gotcha."
