Jimin's POV:

"Okay, then let's all go in different directions, but don't go too far that you can't find your way back... make markings on trees or plants, and don't eat any fruits you gather until we've inspected them... we don't want to risk poisoning. Only take water from flowing bodies of water, like a stream or something. If it's a stagnant body of water, there are too many bacteria in it. We would only use that as a last resort and filter it," Namjoon instructed us. He then grabbed Yoongi to form a team with him, while Jungkook stuck with Jin, and I stood beside Taehyung. We placed the empty water canister into the large duffel bag that Tae carried on his shoulder and started walking northward.

My best friend was unusually quiet; usually, he could talk my ear off all day long and sometimes be even more of a chatterbox than me. But now he walked silently through the forest, which fortunately seemed to be a typical East Asian forest rather than a dense tropical jungle, making it easier for us to navigate between the trees. It was understandable that he was affected by everything that had happened today.

It wasn't until we had been walking for quite some time that I realized I had forgotten to pay attention to our surroundings due to deep thinking. I hadn't seen anything edible or marked our path in any way... but then I noticed that Tae kept breaking branches off bushes and trees. I sighed in relief, and he turned around to look at me attentively.

"Are you okay?" he asked with concern, and I gave him a sincere smile. Here I was worrying about him, and instead, he was thinking about me.

"I was going to ask you the same thing," I replied and linked my arm with his. "I'm... okay. I still can't believe that three people died today, including Manager-nim... he wasn't the manager who had been with us the longest or the closest to us... but he had been with us for three years, always kind and respectful. His daughter just graduated from school and got accepted into SNU; he was so proud when he told me this morning. And the two pilots, they lost their lives while saving us, and they surely had families too... I'm grateful that none of us were hurt and that the little girl survived. I was so unfair to her, even though we somehow owe our lives to her..." He began pouring out his heart to me, and I was glad that he no longer kept all these thoughts inside himself. Speaking them out loud was always the first step.

"You know... she held my hand during the emergency because I was so terrified... even though she was trembling herself, she didn't let go of me to hold onto the seat tighter. She helped me get through it; I would have almost lost it from fear. And now, knowing that she wasn't trained for situations like this and thinking about how she took care of us, even though she must have been overwhelmed... others would have broken down hysterically. It somehow makes it even more special to me," I shared, and he nodded.

"I'll definitely come up with something to make it up to her..." he said, ready to continue walking when an orange fruit caught my eye.

"Tae... I think those are persimmons hanging there."
