We had so many fish for dinner that we ate nothing but grilled fish, the fridge had long been full, but we hadn't expected to find so many more in the nets. Ghost, who usually caught his own food, was also lying next to us, full and satisfied, as we had fed him several fish so as not to waste anything.
"Tae... do you happen to know how to build a smokehouse?" asked Jin, who had been thinking the whole time and had therefore hardly spoken.
"Yeah, sure, my parents have one too, I helped when he built it with my grandfather." he said and Jin sighed with relief.
"Good, because we can build up a larger supply that isn't dependent on a fridge or electricity. I dread it if we ever lose power and then we might have a lull in our fishing. Besides, I'd die for smoked fish..." Jin rejoiced after expressing his concerns.
"Oh yes, smoked salmon... that would be so delicious..." enthused Jungkook, who was then laughed at by Jin and Yoongi.
"What?" asked irritated.
"Kookie... You can only catch salmon with deep-sea fish, and it's much too warm here... and they're so big, you can't just catch them with a fishing rod..." explained Namjoon and the younger boy pulled a disappointed pout.
"Too bad... but other smoked fish is good too." he then said, eating could always satisfy him, I had already noticed that.
"But another topic... we're going on another expedition around the island the day after tomorrow... this time it might take a little longer, I'm expecting to stay at least two nights and I'd like to take Jungkook and Taehyung with me as well as Y/N." Namjoon announced. The two of them grinned happily at each other, while Yoongi and Jimin both grimaced rather sulkily.
"Stop looking so grumpy, you two have to come fishing with me for our supplies," Jin scolded them directly.
"Come on, we can't all come with you, we'll hold the fort here. They'll be back soon." Hobi cheered them up.
"Who says I want to go? But why does she have to go?" Yoongi complained.
"Who should go instead of her? The three of us have to go fishing and Hobi isn't fit enough yet." jin asked Yoongi, who just pressed his mouth into a line and admitted defeat.
"Fine, then she'll sleep with Hobi and me for the next two nights." Yoongi simply decided, which made Jin and Jimin snort.
"But then she'll stay with me during the day." sulked Jimin.
"Hey, what about me?" Jin complained, but Yoongi just patted him spitefully on the shoulder.
"You've got your fish..." he looked at us, piqued, because we were all laughing after Yoongi's line.
"Ok, so Tae, do you think you can manage to build the smokehouse before you leave?" Jin then diverted the conversation.
"As long as Yoongi Hyung and Jungkook help me, I'm sure we can do it." he confirmed. The other two nodded.
"We can rebuild one of the huts we had planned as a changing room by the lake and had almost finished, then it'll go faster." Jungkook suggested, but Taehyung shook his head.
"Not in the forest, we should build this on the beach within sight, but not too close so that something doesn't accidentally catch fire... I don't want to risk a forest fire here." he explained his concerns.
"That could be our death sentence... We'd rather not take any risks." Namjoon then said.
"Good, then the plan is set for the next two days... The three of us build the smokehouse, Namjoon, Hobi and Y/N prepare the expedition, Jin catches fish and Jimin stalks Y/N every step of the way." Jungkook enumerated with an amused grin, receiving a forehead flick from Jimin in return, which he let pass with a giggle.
