When I woke up, Namjoon and Jungkook were still asleep, so I carefully wriggled out of their arms and crawled out of the shelter. The sun had already risen, so I made my way to the stream to wash and freshen up and refill my water bottles. Then I set off in search of two sticks of the same size that were either bent at one end or had a piece of a thicker branch at the end that could serve as a handle. It took me some time to find two suitable pieces, but after I was successful, I wanted to go back to Namjoon and Jungkook. But when I turned around, I froze in my tracks and widened my eyes in shock. Just 10 meters away from me, a big cat had stepped out of the bushes and when our eyes crossed, it snarled at me. It wasn't as big as you'd imagine most big cats to be, only about knee-high but almost a meter long, yet its claws looked like it could easily tear me apart and eat me.

"Relax, kitten... I won't hurt you, you won't hurt me... Deal?" I asked trembling, trying to appear more confident than I was, which the creature noticed, hissed at me again unimpressed and took two steps towards me. I didn't dare back away as I didn't want to trigger its hunting instinct. Drops of sweat formed on my forehead and I was freezing cold. I was aware that I had to do something, otherwise it could end badly. I raised one of the sticks threateningly and let it hit the ground as she came even closer to me, but instead of flinching, she hit the stick. Since scaring her didn't work that way, I tried to scare her away with noise, so I shouted at her.

"Yah... get lost... if you try to eat me, I'll make a fur coat out of you... " but now she just sat down a stick's length in front of me and looked at me bored. She reminded me of Mina's cat, she was such an arrogant creature too.

"What now? Are you going to go away or are you going to attack me?" I asked, annoyed, but she stayed put and licked her paw with relish. What was she trying to achieve? Was it a distraction so that she could then attack me from behind, should I turn around and walk away? After a few minutes of internal discussion with myself, I took a careful, slow step backwards, not thinking that the stick was still dragging on the ground, whereupon the big cat jumped up and followed the stick, nudging it repeatedly with its paws.

"You're not serious... you want to play?" I asked, irritated, and moved the stick back and forth in a test, whereupon she behaved like a little kitten and tried to catch the tip of the stick. I couldn't believe I was standing on an island in the forest playing with a big cat... I wonder if she would let me stroke her too? I cautiously stretched out a hand towards her, but she refused to sniff it and instead gave me one with her paw. A moment later, a mango came flying at her and hit her on the head, causing her to flee into the bushes in panic and fright. I didn't know whether to be relieved or disappointed. Jungkook came rushing towards me and hugged me fiercely.

"That was close, you almost got eaten." he said theatrically and I rolled my eyes, giggling.

"I think the danger of being eaten by you is greater... I've just made friends with the kitten." I replied and he looked at me seriously.

"She attacked you, I saw it clearly." He worriedly took my hand and examined it from both sides.

"She hit me without claws, she didn't seem to want to hurt me, it was just a warning." I defended my new playmate, but I was still grateful, after all, he would have saved me if it hadn't gone so smoothly.

"But thank you, that was very brave of you." I praised him and saw his eyes light up before the corners of his mouth lifted into a sweet smile.

"I won't let anyone eat you... At least not anyone else but me." he added with a grin.
