We waited until after lunch so that we could set off well fortified, packed some water and persimmons as provisions and then set off. We had decided to walk along the beach so that we wouldn't get lost. We walked in silence for a good three hours before he made his first attempts to talk to me,
"Listen... I'm really sorry, we were a bit scared that the mood would escalate and at that moment, it was the most logical solution... maybe we should have thought about it longer instead of jumping in like that. Can you please talk to me again?" he asked me, obviously remorseful and he almost softened my heart with his cute dimples, but I didn't want to give in so easily. I pressed my lips together and gave him a dirty look, I was really angry because this could have ended badly if anyone had actually taken it seriously. Although I didn't want to believe that anyone would have actually done it if I had simply refused. I was particularly disappointed that Namjoon and Jin, who actually made me feel safe and protected, had stabbed me in the back like that. What upset me the most was that they had taken this trust away from me and that I was behaving like a sulking child, I knew that, but I still couldn't get over it, I wanted to stay stubborn a little longer. Even though I knew I wouldn't be able to hold out for long anyway. Namjoon seemed to notice this and kept quiet again, probably to give me a little more space and not to push me.
The landscape remained the same, a white sandy beach with palm trees that merged into a deciduous and coniferous forest. Every now and then we came across rocks, but we always managed to avoid them. After another hour, we walked a little way into the forest to look at the plants and see what might be there. And sure enough, we found yellow mangoes, which we filled our bags with straight away.
"We should walk back slowly if we want to make it back before nightfall," I decided to talk to him after all, which he smiled happily at.
"Yes, we've found enough for today, if we want to go further we should do so with blankets, tarpaulins and more provisions so that we can build a shelter, because then we'll have to spend the night. " he said and I could see that he would definitely be joining us on this trip, he loved hiking in nature, which I found an endearing quality, I could understand him... exploring the solitary beauty of nature, in peace and quiet without the stress and hustle and bustle, was so relaxing and recharged the batteries. On the island, the ebb and flow of the tide was not as great a phenomenon as in the North Sea, there was perhaps only 10 meters difference here, but unfortunately, when we arrived at a large rock formation again after an hour, it was enough that we couldn't walk past it this time, because the waves that were now crashing against it were too wild to wade through, as we had done at lunchtime, but there were only a few centimeters of water. We had no choice but to climb over it. Namjoon insisted that I climb first so that he could help me if I slipped, but when we climbed back down on the other side, he was suddenly faster than me at the bottom, even though he was behind me... He rolled down the side of the rock with a loud thud, having had the presence of mind to turn so that he didn't fall head first.
"Ahhhhhhhhh crap... ouch... Bloody hell...." he moaned, holding his right knee while feeling his ankle with the other hand and grimacing in pain. I quickly climbed down and rushed next to him, looked at his knee, which was fortunately only scraped, but his ankle looked different, it was getting thicker by the second. Probably a strained ligament, but luckily it wasn't a tear. Nothing seemed to be broken, but it was certainly sprained.
"Come on, let's take your shoe off and keep your foot in the cool water for a while... I don't know if you should be walking around with it... unfortunately I don't have an x-ray machine here..." I said and started to untie the laces to remove the shoe as carefully as possible, which I couldn't do without letting out a gasp of pain. His expression relaxed immediately as he felt the cooling effect of the water on his wounded area.
"I'm afraid you won't be able to go back today, you shouldn't perform." I said after another 10 minutes during which the ankle continued to swell, despite the water.
"Go on without me, tell the others to come and get me," he suggested.
"No, it's the middle of the night by the time we get back here, then back to the plane, we'd have to walk 12 hours, so we'd better not, I can't leave you here alone at night either, you could go into shock and that would be fatal... so we'll stay here and tomorrow we'll see if you can walk a bit so you can come back." I explained and he nodded sadly.
"And how are we going to sleep here, we don't have any blankets and it always gets chilly in the evening?" he asked me curiously.
"We'll have to cuddle up to sleep..."
