"Kookie, can you please see if Sora is awake yet?" I asked later that day as I was working outside in the garden after I had put Sora down to sleep.
"Sure, should I bring her right then?" he wanted to know before turning to the plane.
"Yes, unless she's still asleep," I admonished him, causing him to roll his eyes. He came back a little later, alone and with a worried look on his face.
"There's a little problem... Can you come with me, please?" he said, making me nervous... Had something happened?
"Is she okay?" I asked worriedly and he nodded quickly.
"Yes, that's not the problem... Just see for yourself." he said with a sigh as we entered the bedroom. My daughter was indeed fine, she was lying in her crib gurgling, kicking her legs and clutching one paw. Ghost was lying next to the bed and had stuck a paw through the bars, which Sora was now playing with. The cat put up with it without batting an eyelid, licking Sora's feet every time she stuck them in her face close to the bars. When the Pader saw Jungkook, he hissed and wouldn't let him come near the baby. Giggling, I looked at the situation.
"Now don't laugh, your cat won't let me get the little one out, she almost ate me just now..." he complained.
"Oh Kookie... Look how cute the two of them are playing..." I said, to which he grimaced.
"But they won't let me join in... why can't that animal forget the mango thing? I only wanted to save you back then..." he whined in frustration.
"Ghost, you sweetie... Will you let Kookie come here too?" I asked him as I stroked him and he rubbed his head against me, purring. I took Sora out of the crib and sat down on the bed with her, so that Ghost came curiously closer. He sniffed the little one, who couldn't stop beaming. After an extensive examination, the cat licked Sora's ear and then moved to the foot of the bed to curl up there to sleep.
"Tell me... when you see her laughing... Does that remind you of who?" I asked him curiously and he looked at her.
"If I look at her long enough, I see something of each of us... I think it's all in my head, so I don't want to speculate," he replied after some thought, which disappointed me a little, I was sure I knew who her biological father was. But the others I spoke to during the course of the day had a similar view to Kookie.
"Every day I see something different in her, I guess it comes from the subconscious," Jimin explained.
"Yeah, yesterday I thought... hmmm it could have been Hobi, today I thought of Jimin, last week I was sure it was me." Yoongi said. So i thought it was all just speculation and I decided to just keep my guess to myself because they wouldn't take it seriously anyway. Only Jin hadn't joined in the conversation; he was grinning to himself.
"I think you have someone specific in mind... and I can tell you, I think the same." I followed his gaze and sure enough, he looked in the direction of the person I had in mind, smiling. So if the two of us were sure of each other, then it wasn't my imagination, was it? I left the subject alone, but the more often I saw my daughter laughing, the more certain I was. A few days later I was awake at night, having changed and nursed Sora, and was about to hum her to sleep when I opened my eyes in surprise. I heard music... Loud music... that was getting quieter and quieter, as if it was drifting away...
