Hey guys! I'm so sorry I didn't update on Friday I've been super busy. Anyways enjoy the next chapter.
-Annabeth

Throughout the rest of the day, Beth was still angry about her argument with Noah. He was just some guy she had met a few days prior, yet it felt like this argument would change their whole relationship forever. Either way, she got the other two go aheads she needed, the first from Estevan, who was surprisingly accepting... surprising until she remembered what the test needed. The second one was Mikayla, who had laughed at her for thinking Noah would actually be on board, but she gave Beth her go ahead because she was just curious how it would play out. She went back to the leader and gave the three signatures to her as proof. After going to the three campers and getting the secondary proof, she went back to Beth's cabin.
"Alright, everything checks out. You fought with Noah yesterday and today you already got three yeses," The leader told her "Usually it would take over a week. You will be a great addition with your connections here." Beth nodded "Now, I have seen you speaking with Noah, and while I despise him with a passion, he is a great source of information. Would I be correct in that he told you what the test would entail?"
"Yes, yes he did. I am willing to take on the challenge."
"Good, because there is no backing out once I have this." She grabbed Beth by the shirt and pulled her in closer "We are going to make your life a living hell... and we will love every moment." Beth nodded and prepared to endure the worst week of her life.

Two Days Later

The first section of the test hadn't been too bad if Beth was being completely honest. Sure, they were incredibly mean, but it was nothing too awful. She would've guessed that Noah had over exaggerated, but most of the warriors were a few years older than her. Maybe they were just taking it easy on her because she was so much younger than they were used to, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. This was her thought process... until the third day. That morning, she walked out of her cabin and was instantly struck across the stomach with a bat. She yelped and fell to her knees on the steps of the cabin.
She looked up at the Athenian Warrior leader, who brought the bat up over her head, and told her "Now the real pain begins." She swung it down hard onto the back of Beth's head, which knocked her out cold.
A few minutes later, she could feel a shoe nudging her head ever so lightly. She groaned as she grabbed at the foot, trying to make it stop, but it simply vanished. This confused her even more in her already vulnerable state and she pushed herself off the ground. She sat up and rubbed the back of her head, then noticed that her hand felt wet. She moved her hand in front of her face and saw blood all over her palm and fingers.
"Gotcha good, didn't they?" A familiar voice asked next to her.
Beth looked up and saw her friend, still dressed in his normal sweat pants and a long sleeved shirt. She looked around and, by where the sun was, she could tell that it was around ten thirty in the morning. She had gotten up around seven to get breakfast... she had been out for three and a half hours? She groaned as she continued rubbing her head while Noah played with a small rubber ball in his hands.
"Uh... yeah, they caught me off guard," Beth replied while looking up at him.
"Yeah, you're gonna have to get used to that," He warned her "Aside from me, no one can ever tell when they're about to come at you. I would project my thoughts into your head to warn you, but that would negate the test." He pulled out his sword and began sharpening it with a stone he picked up off the ground "Still think you wanna do this?"
"Ye- yes, I am absolutely sure," She replied steadfast as she sat up next to him and held her stomach, having almost forgotten about the hit she had taken there as well.
"Good, 'cause the next five days of your life are gonna be worse than spending that amount of time in Helheim."
"Helheim?"
"Bad place where people go when they die in anything but combat. Aesir and all of the nine realm people absolutely no joke, and kinda insane," He explained "Luckily, the Valkyrie are actually really nice. A bunch of them are teachers and other staff here."
"Wait, really?"
"Yeah, they're the ladies with the big metal wings, always wearing armor, and never show their real faces to anyone in the Haven."
"Oh, I have not seen them around."
"You haven't been enrolled in classes yet. You've been here for... how long again?"
"Five days I think?"
"Yeah, you're gonna have to wait a few days, still think this is an awful idea, but you're too far into this to quit. Spider barrel's not gonna be fun, will it?"
She shook her head and he ducked down while sharpening his blade. She looked down at him, then was hit in the head by a big, sharp pebble. Noah looked back and saw that one of the Athenian Warriors had shot it at them with a slingshot. Whether it was aimed at him or Beth was none of Noah's concern. An attack like that was never going to hit him and Beth brought this upon herself.
"See ya later, Beth." He got up and walked toward the slingshot warrior "firstly, gotta make sure you don't take a cheap shot at us again." He tilted his sword down and thrust the butt of the weapon's hilt into the warrior's stomach "Yeah..." The warrior fell to the ground and Noah kicked him across the face "Just take a nap." He walked over him and went about his daily routine.
When the sun was high in the sky, Beth decided to go over to the river to see if she could see why Noah liked it so much. She could see a lake out in the distance with a strange structure built on its farthest point from where the river flowed in. She was about to go over and have a look when two Athenian Warriors jumped on her. The male held her arms behind her back while the girl shoved her head into the rushing stream. She tried to fight back but they were both bigger and stronger than she was. The only choice she had left at the moment was to endure it. She knew she could hold her breath in water like that which was in the lake, but this river was constantly rushing fiercely, causing little stones to rip into her face and tear parts of her hair away. To make it even worse, the river was some variant of salt, which burned and sizzled when it made contact with her blood. After about forty five seconds that felt like ten minutes, the two pulled her up, and threw her down onto the rubble filled sand.she gasped and coughed up mouthfuls of water while the two warriors laughed down at her.
"Well,  the new chick is tougher than she looks," The boy said.
"Maybe she will actually become one of us," The girl replied "Should we take her back to camp?"
"If she found her way here she can find her way back."
She coughed up more water, then rolled over over on her back, then passed out again. While she normally wouldn't have passed out, but there were a few things that made this experience more intense than any other time she had been in the water. Firstly, she hadn't expected to be held under the water like that, so she was already panicking when it happened. The second aspect of it that was different is that she was being held down in the water, which was completely different than what she was used to. The third and fourth were pretty clear, the water was violently rushing past her with rocks constantly cutting into her face. The young girl laid on her back unconscious for about half an hour before someone came and kicked her. She groaned and slapped the leg away, but the person kicked her again. She groaned, but didn't fully wake up, only for the person to sit down on her stomach! That got her awake and she looked up to see Mikayla reading a spell book again.
"Noah find out you were joining the Athenian Warriors?" She asked.
"What? Oh, no... we already had a conversation about that this morning."
"So, what's all this about?"
"This was part of the test. I got jumped and held under the water."
"Wow, that's intense. For my friend Aiden they really didn't do much to him until the whole fear test thingy." She looked down "You like spiders?"
"What!? No, I hate them!"
"Oh, then you're gonna have a blast in that barrel," Mikayla chuckled "They're gonna be crawling all over you, maybe they'll put a venomous one or two in there too, just to mess with ya a little."
"Wait, have they done that before?!" She exclaimed.
"Mhm, poor girl got a heart attack. Died right there in the barrel and they hid her body till night time."
"What did they do with her?"
"Threw her in the lake and took all her shit. You fail if you die and if you fail, they take everything you have. I personally wouldn't recommend failing if I were you, but that's just me." Mikayla got back up and asked "You alright?"
Beth got back up and replied "Yes, yes. I will be fine." She wiped her face and looked down at the blood "Do you have any magic to help with the wounds?"
"I do, but we're not allowed to interfere with the test. Sorry, new girl, you're on your own for the week." Beth was about to object, but Mikayla said a spell in a strange language and she disappeared.
She sighed and decided to stay at the river for the rest of the day, hoping she'd be able to see anyone by the time they came for her. For the rest of the day, she just sat at the edge of the water and watched the trees. It would've been incredibly boring if there hadn't been wild life all over the place. There was a doe that would walk past her every once in a while and once or twice, she had taken a drink of water next to Beth. The young Demigod had elected to call the doe Blizzard because of her purely white furred head. Every now and then someone would come around, but that was two times in over six hours. She looked up at the sun and could see that it was around four o'clock now.  She got up off of the spot where she was sitting and began to make her way back to camp. Today had not been as bad as she was expecting, but now that they knew where to find her, she figured she'd need a new place to hide out. When she was half way through the forest, she was jumped once again by three more Athenian Warriors. One of them slammed her head against a tree while the other two threw a rope up at one of the branches. It fell over the branch and on the ground next to Beth. The one holding her to the tree kept her still so she couldn't get away. One of the other warrior tied the rope around her ankle, then they pulled her up into the air. They pinned her to the tree with a knife through her shirt, which left merely a flesh wound. She hissed in pain when the knife stabbed through her side and they just left her there for a while. When they walked away laughing, Beth sighed, and reached up for the rope. She yelled and fell back against the tree when the knife tore through her skin. When she fell against the tree, her head slammed against it again.
"Augh... okay... okay, I can do this." She grabbed the hilt of the dagger and slowly pulled it out of her side, then she cut the rope "Oh, maybe that was not a-" She suddenly fell on her head and slammed down onto her head "Urgh... maybe... I should just go to bed." She slowly got back up and walked through the forest "This has been absolutely awful, I thought it was going to be easy." She went to bed early and... well the next day was essentially the same... day six however?
