They went up to the room and Kenneth asked "Okay, now that we are alone, and I tell you something."
"Yeah, sure, whatever," Beth replied.
"Okay, good- this entire situation is your god damn fault!"
Beth was taken aback and asked "I am sorry, how the hell is this my fault?"
"Who was the one who so desperately wanted to be a part of the Athenian Warriors? Who decided to leave and then got kidnapped, causing Nate to go years without sleep and constantly literally tearing his own mind apart in the process?"
"You are seriously blaming me for this? I was the one who got kidnapped, and you are blaming me?"
"None of this would have happened if you had just listened to Nate over a decade ago. He tried to warn you, but no, you had to go and join them, become a killer, and then force Nate to put his mind and body through Hell just to find you."
"I was being put through hell as well! I have told you about some of the things they did to me!"
"Yeah, but it was all because you decided to be one of the cool kids. Why do you think not of us ever did? All of us are powerful enough to fight a bunch of them off at once, so it was not because we are too weak. We knew what they were about and Nate warned you, told you everything twice and-"
"Oh, get off your high horse, Kenneth," Beth snapped at him. "You were the first person to give me your blessing about joining the Athenian Warriors."
"Because I could tell there was no talking you out of it."
"You hardly even tried."
"If Nate failed to, how could I have?"
"Even Mikayla tried to talk me out of it."
"Knowing her, she did the minimal."
"She at least did something."
"Elizabeth, if you had just listened to Nate and stayed away from the Athenian Warriors, you could have had a decent relationship with your mother, you could have not dove head first into a war with your mother and just had Estevan to worry about. However you had to be this power hungry mass murderer who only wanted to leave the Athenian Warriors when she took off the blinders after it turns out being a mercenary is not as much fun when you are the ones being picked off one by one."
"Well... at least my trail of bodies... was not created because of some need to save someone who did not want to be saved."
"Oh... you did not want to be saved?" Kenneth asked "I wish we would have known that before Nate forced himself through hell!"
Kenneth suddenly swung a punch and nailed Beth in the mouth, causing her to stumble back. She looked up and when he swung again, she blocked with her elbow. She knocked his arm away and palmed him in the chest with both hands simultaneously. As he stumbled back, she stepped forward, and hook punched him across the jaw. Kenneth fell against the bed and spat out a bit of blood, then looked up at Beth as he wiped it from his mouth. Before he had time to retaliate, Beth ran at him, and tackled him over the bed. They tumbled over it and landed on the floor next to the window. Beth got up first and grabbed Kenneth by the arms, then hoisted him up, and pushed him against the wall. He fell against the television, which caused it to fall and break, but neither cared. He stepped forward and swung a punch at her nose, but she leaned away from the strike. Both pulled their legs up and kicked the other in the shoulder, which knocked them each to a different side of the room.
"What is the matter with you!?" Beth exclaimed.
Nate suddenly came in and said "Yo, Kenneth. We got a problem and- what the flying Hel happened here?"
"Just getting some internal struggles out," Beth replied while breathing a bit heavily.
"Yeah... but I think we have come to an understanding..." Kenneth agreed "Wait, what did you mean about the problem?"
"Huh, oh yeah. We've got an Athena problem, but luckily it's her morons and not her."
"Oh, okay. That is a bit easier, how many are there?" Beth asked.
"Few dozen by the looks of it."
"Sorry, what?" Kenneth asked "There are only seven of us?"
"And the three of us in this room took down about thirteen all on our own. I think we'll be fine, plus now we have the powers of magic, nature, and... death itself on our side."
Beth grinned, "I love my death boy. Come on." They ran out of the room and were about to go down when Beth saw... someone she hadn't seen in years "Aiden?" She looked back at him, but he had already disappeared, so she summoned her shield.
"Beth? What's up?" Nate asked as he calmly stepped away from the shield without looking.
"I need to see about another old friend. You six can deal with them right?"
"Few dozen against the six of us? Yeah, we will be fine," Kenneth assured her "Go."
They leapt down the stairs to the lobby and found that Mikayla, Eden, and Hayden had already made it. Eden and Mikayla had clearly just scrounged together clothes while Hayden had visibly been partying. Eden was just wearing her running shoes, right black jeans, and a thin gray sweatshirt. Mikayla was wearing black sweatpants, a form fitting red tank top, and a red and black flannel shirt. Hayden had a red and black suit on with the same cuff links that his father had gotten for him.
"How many are there?" Kenneth asked as they got to the group.
"Few dozen," Hayden replied while cracking his neck "Where's Beth?"
"Said she had to go do something with an old friend," Nate replied "Now's not the time to worry about that, though." They all faced the warriors.
"All of you! Drop to your knees now and realize that you have lost!" The commander of the legion told them.
The four looked back at Nate for a response as that was more his thing, so he retorted with "You really came all this way for us? I've gotta say, I'm flattered, the problem is... you should've come better prepared."
Hayden summoned his scythe and Eden made a staff out of roots. Kenneth and Nate both took their swords off of their hips and tossed the sheaths to the side. Mikayla used a spell to call her chained daggers to her hand. They all stood in a line and showed the Athenian Warriors that they had no fear for what they may do to them.
"Please," She scoffed looking down at them "You think you five can match the power of my entire battalion?"
"Hm... good point," Nate admitted "Then your real problem is that you should've come sooner. At this point, there's nothing you can do to stop us from what we're gonna do. Did Athena even put you up to this? It doesn't seem like her to-"
"Shut up!" The commander snapped, then she signaled for her ranged attackers to charge up their attacks.
"Oh shit," Kenneth said.
"Brace yourselves!" Nate yelled.
"Ready!"
Hayden had a different idea and he ran out in front of his friends. He swung his scythe and created a wall of pure death smoke in front of the group. The attacks all hit the smoke and were instantly turned to nothing but dust. A bunch of the hotel patrons fell to their knees, choking on the smoke, then they died within seconds. The cloud dissipated and Nate grinned at the battalion, having shown that they would not go down easily.
"Fine, you want to do this old school, then?" The commander asked as her battalion got ready.
"Wouldn't have it any other way," Nate agreed as Marc got to the battle with his mace out, then the two groups ran toward each other, and a gigantic battle in the lobby broke out.
Beth had been running after Aiden, but it was like he was a ghost, just constantly appearing and disappearing in the crowd. She stopped after a while and was about to give up when she felt something flying at her head. She turned and brought her shield up to block the projectile, but she didn't see it fall to the floor. It didn't explode so she looked down at her shield. When she turned it over, Beth was horrified to find a sticky grenade attached to it, so she threw it over the banister, and it was blown to pieces.
"Who threw tha-" She was suddenly punched in the back of the head by a metallic fist, sending her flying down onto the floor.
"There you are, you abandoning bitch," Someone snarled as he walked toward her "I've been waiting for this!"
She got up and blocked a punch to her face, then swung the arm over her head, and swung a hammer fist at his head. He blocked with his wrist, then pushed her arm down, and spun. He threw a knee at her stomach, but she used both palms to push it down. He put his foot down and swung it back up in a roundhouse at Beth's head. She slapped the attack away, then spun, and swung a hook kick at his head. Her opponent ducked under the attack, then jumped, and swung a flying roundhouse kick at Beth's head. She used her forearm and palm to block the strike, then pushed him back. He regained his balance, then swung another roundhouse kick at her head, but she just ducked the strike. Once she got up, he swung a powerful punch into her mouth. Beth was sent flying backwards and crashed down onto her back. Her opponent stepped forward, brought his foot up, and swung it down at her head. She barrel rolled away from the attack and got back up, still confused as to who this person was.
Down in the lobby, even though the team was outnumbered over six to one, they were holding their own pretty well. Mikayla wrapped a chain around an Athenian Warrior's neck, then pulled it quickly. She heard his neck break and she tossed him to the side like trash as she moved on to her next opponent. This time, she didn't feel like doing anything fancy, so she just kicked her in the chest. The Athenian Warrior stumbled backwards and Mikayla blocked another punch to the side of her neck. She turned and used the blade of one of her daggers to stab into the warrior's jaw. Mikayla tossed him to the side, ripping the entire bottom half of her jaw out in the process. She turned to another warrior and simply instep kicked him in the groin, then punched him across the jaw. Another Athenian Warrior ran at her, but Mikayla just stabbed her daggers into her trapeziuses, then threw her through a slot machine.
"Hey, how are you guys doing?" She called over to her friends while still dealing with her opponents.
"Pretty good, you?" Nate replied while slashing a warrior's wrist, then he grabbed him by the shoulder, and stabbed him through the throat.
Another Athenian Warrior ran at him, but Nate just palmed her in the nose. He spun around on the floor with a leg extended to sweep her off of her feet. The warrior landed on her back and Nate axe kicked her in the chest before slitting her throat. Another warrior came at him, so he just turned, and blocked the vertical attack. Nate got up and flipped his blade upright in his grip, then stabbed his attacker through the throat.
"Eden, how you doing?" Nate called over as he looked at his friend.
"Be quiet, I need to focus," She replied, not irritated but just telling him what she needed from him.
"Sorry, go beat ass!"
She nodded and turned back to her opponent, then swung her staff down onto his leg. He yelled out in pain as his femur bone snapped and he called in two more of his allies. Eden looked to her right and left and decided on her next play. She jabbed the butt of her staff into one of the warriors' chest, then she swung it up into the other's groin. She looked up and saw another coming, so she swung the staff up into his chin. He stumbled back and she swung the weapon down onto the top of his head.
"Wait, where is Beth?"
Beth blocked a roundhouse kick to her chest, then slapped a punch to her neck down. She punched him in the nose of his mask, which actually managed to crack it. He stepped forward and swung another punch at her nose, but she backed up, and blocked it. She leaned backwards to avoid an uppercut, then hook punched him across the face. The strike caused him to almost fall backwards, then he swung back around, and uppercut Beth in the chin. She stumbled back, then came back, and hook punched him in the jaw again. His mask continued to fall apart and he responded with a headbutt. She stumbled backwards and fell on the food stand, then she leaned away from a hook punch. She swung an uppercut into his kidney, then ducked under another punch, and hook punched him in the kidney. She spun around and elbowed him in the sternum, then swung it up into his chin. She wrapped his arm around hers and kneed him in the chest before throwing him into a room next to them. He looked up at her, then growled, and took two daggers out of his pockets. Beth's opponent scrambled back to his feet and ran at her with a knife in each hand. He stabbed down at her head, but she slapped the attack away. Beth tried to punch him in the nose, but he blocked with his forearm. He stabbed at her ribs, but she slapped the attack away, then used her palm to block another knee strike. She pushed his leg down, then punched him in the chest, and heel kicked him in the stomach. He grunted and dropped the knives, then grabbed Beth, and slammed her against the wall.
"This is for letting me get shot in the head," He growled.
"Aiden?" She asked, then a blade extended out of his right gauntlet "Oh, that is new."
She pushed him back and he swung at her head with the blade, but she blocked the flat side with her forearm. She grabbed his wrist and elbowed his arm down, then swung the same elbow into his nose. With her grip still locked on his wrist, and elbowed his elbow and broke it, causing his arm to bend in a way that it was not meant to. She kicked him back and ripped the gauntlet off of his hand and tossed out of the room, down into the lobby brawl. She stepped toward him and he got back up, then extended the blade in his other gauntlet.
"Aiden, just stop it," She told him.
"You're gonna pay for leaving me to die!"
She sighed and he swung the blade at his neck, to which she just leaned back. He swung at her stomach this time and she jumped backwards out of the room. Aiden stabbed at her face, but she just grabbed his arm, and stuck a pressure point. His arm fell limp for a split second and she ripped the bladed gauntlet off of his arm. He grunted and shook his arm once it was back up and running, then reached back into his pocket, and took another knife out of his pants.
"Where do all these knives come from?" Beth asked as they continued to fight.
"Athena, where else?"
He jumped forward and swung the knife at her head, but she pushed his arm away. He pulled his other arm back and swung a punch, but she just blocked the attack with her palm. Aiden swung his knife down at her head, but she jumped backwards. He swung another punch at her neck, but Beth pushed his arm away. He stabbed at her head, but she grabbed his wrist, and pushed his arm down. Aiden pushed her backwards and she ducked underneath another swing to her head. She got up and stepped back to avoid a hook punch, then punched Aiden in the jaw. She used the momentum of the attack to spin around, jump, and back kick him out of the room. He landed on the railing and his knife fell out of his hand down into the lobby, which stabbed into an Athenian Warrior's head while she was fighting Eden.
Hayden spun around and kicked a warrior's legs out from underneath her. She fell on her shoulder and he brought his scythe down through her head. He looked up and used his scythe's blade to slash through another warrior's arm, then stabbed the blade between his ribs. He spun him around and used the butt of the weapon to throw the warrior into another group that was coming at him. He turned and ducked underneath another warrior's punch, then hooked his arm with the blade of his scythe. Hayden stood up and ripped the blade through both the warrior's arm and neck. His headless body fell to the floor and Hayden ran to go see who was next.
Nate stomped his current opponent's head into the floor, then grabbed a bottle off a table. He drank whatever was inside in one go, turned, and smashed it over another Warrior's head. She fell to the floor and the commander ran at him. He took his sword off of his hip again and blocked a downward strike from her spear. Nate heard a gun being loaded and looked up while fighting the commander and saw a few snipers on the floor above them. They were firing down into the crowd, killing a few hotel workers, but their target, Kenneth, was too fast for them.
Nate batted the commander's staff away and yelled "Kenneth, think you can deal with them?"
"Yeah, I was just about to!"
"Good!"
Kenneth used his speed to run up to the snipers before they even noticed that he had moved. When they did notice, one of them jumped at him with a knife, but he just kicked her out of the air. The warrior fell on her back and he stepped on her chest and ran his sword through her head. He looked up and simply cut the next airborne warrior in half. He looked up and batted the last sniper's rifle out of his hand, then stabbed him through the chest. He looked down at his friends and saw that by some miracle they were winning.
Eden spun her staff to block bullets, arrows, and any other weapons her group were firing at her. When they stopped, she got into position to fight close quarters. She swung the staff into the side of one of their heads and he fell against a pool table. His neck snapped as Eden swung the staff into another warrior's ribs. The attack didn't do too much damage, but Kenneth shot the warrior through the head. She barely even noticed in the chaos and decided to sharpen the ends of her spear. She swung the blade through a warrior's neck and decapitated the female warrior in one swing. She turned around and brought the other end of her staff up into a warrior's groin. He fell to his knees and she slammed the other end of the staff down onto his head. The blade cut through the skull as if it were paper and she ripped it out of his skull. She spun the blade behind her to cut through a warrior, then stabbed in front of her, killing two warriors with one attack.
"Come on!" Aiden yelled as he walked toward Beth with another knife.
"Seriously, where are you getting all of these!?"
He swung the knife at her throat with it in his underhand, but she leaned back quickly to dodge it. He brought it back up and brought it down at her head, but she grabbed his arm to stop him. Aiden snarled and used his other hand to push the blade down at her, but Beth moved just quickly enough for the knife to sink into her shoulder instead of her head. She yelled out in pain and he kicked her against the wall. He kept his grip on the knife and kept it dug into her shoulder as he pinned her on the wall. Beth glared at him, then swung her forehead into his nose twice to disorient him. She let out a pained grunt as she ripped the blade out of her shoulder, then swung his arm away from her head, knocking the blade out of his grip, and down into a random guest.
"Fine... fists," Aiden panted.
"Oh, sounds like what your girlfriend asked you for last-" Beth was cut off by Aiden backfisting her across the face.
She fell on her back and Aiden walked back into the room to grab a gauntlet. He put it on his hand and looked down at Beth, who seemed confused as to how he was so strong even without the metal gloves. Aiden knelt down and swung a punch at her face, but just before his punch landed, she barrel rolled out of the way. He growled and looked up at her, then disconnected the gauntlet as its blade was stuck in the floor. She got back up and blocked a hook punch to her hip. He swung the other fist up and struck her in the ear, which knocked her against the railing next to a flight of stairs. Aiden grabbed her by the throat and uppercutted her in the stomach, which caused Beth to groan in pain. In response to this, she hook punched him across the jaw to just get him off of her. He fell against the wall and they both panted for breath for a moment as they each got their barings. Aiden looked up at her and snarled, then tackled her down the stairs. They tumble down the flight before landing in the lobby, Aiden having been completely knocked out.
