Beth fell to one knee and panted for breath, having used all her strength in the battle. Everyone was completely exhausted from their fights. Hayden walked over and put a hand on Beth's shoulder.
"It's done. You're safe now." He helped her up and Beth pulled his face to her giving a long awaited kiss. The others were too exhausted to say anything about their friends making out. Not even Nate.
Hayden pulled back and held her face, "Now we can be together again."
"Yes, but first," She turned to the others, "You guys ready to get out of here?"
"Yes!" Nate said slowly walking over to Hayden putting a hand on his shoulder, "If it gets me away from you two fucking, then yes."
"We hav-"
"Hayden." Beth shook her head letting him know to let it go because at this point it's just wise to let Nate get away with just about everything.
"Children! Before you go, I must speak with you!" Before they all had a chance to take in the thunderous voice they heard, they were teleported up to... what was left of the throne room.
"Augh! Oh, I hated that!" Nate groaned as he nearly fell to his knees... and proceeded to throw up.
"I apologize, but I only need the children of my pantheon," Zeus sighed "Aesir, while I appreciate your valor and bravery today, I will need you to leave."
Marc prepared to fight the king of Olympus, but Nate just stopped him, and they turned around to leave, but not before Nate said "Fuck you, too, asshole." Zeus was slightly shocked by the Demigod's disrespect, but he also understood.
When the two left the throne room, Olympus' king looked down at the remaining Demigods and told them, "Now... you have all put me in a bit of a difficult situation. You've caused the deaths of several of my closest children and my most loyal agents... so, what to do now? My wife clearly hates me, so I doubt she would want any more children with me. Hades has already stepped down from his throne, so I need not figure out a replacement for him. As for the rest of you, you've clearly proven yourselves powerful... hm..." As he looked down at them, he could tell they were afraid, but also ready to give any upcoming fight with him all they had "How about this? I need a new God of War, as they're both dead because of this whole... mess, and I also need a new team of agents."
"Why?" Mikayla asked, clearly choosing her words carefully, unlike Nate who couldn't care less who it was he was talking to "Aren't you like the most powerful God in this pantheon?"
"I am, however I've grown accustomed to having agents around me," Zeus explained as he used his power to instantaneously recreate his throne and sat back down "So, what do you say? Trade your lives down in the Mortal Plane for absolute Godhood?" he could tell they were hesitating, which made sense, they were completely used to their normal lives on Earth "Alright, I can see you're unsure. You are hesitant to leave the world you know, and ascend to the next. I have seen this in several warriors in the past." He waved his hand and the massive doors to the throne room opened up behind them "I will give you a while to make your decision. Until then, go, I feel you will have more struggles to go through by the time you've given me your answer."
With that, they all turned around and began to walk out after bowing to Zeus. After he signaled them to get back up, they turned and left. The walk down the stairs was totally silent, the group just taking in everything that had happened. The war was over, they had finally won... but what now? Would they take Zeus' offer and not only never see Earth again, but Nate and Marc and everyone from the Nine Realms? Should they stay as they are now? Remain powerful beings surrounded by those they could crush in an instant? No one said a word, there was barely any sound that could be heard aside from the fires burning all around them from the chaos they'd brought with them. At the bottom of the stairs, Nate and Marc were waiting for them. The two Aesir descendants were also uncharacteristically quiet. Nate was leaning on one of the pillars that connected the stairs to the ground and Marc was sitting just a few inches away. Neither seemed to notice the rest coming back down and as they got closer, it appeared as if both had fallen asleep. When they reached the bottom, their suspicions had been proven correct. Nate's head was hanging down toward the ground and so was Marc's, although he slowly began to fall onto his side.
Beth sighed and looked over at Nate before putting him onto her back. Luckily, he wasn't very heavy, the armor did add some weight, but he still wasn't at all too heavy for Beth to carry. Marc, on the other hand, was going to be the more difficult of the two... unless Mikayla had something to say about it. She used a non verbal spell to make him weightless. After the spell was cast and he began to float, Eden wrapped some vines around him. Now he was basically just a giant balloon. They began to walk through the courtyard and past the mutilated bodies of Zelus and Cratus. It astonished the Greek Demigods at how ruthless the unconscious Aesir they were carrying could be. Sure, people from the Nine Realms were known for being violent, but what they had done to the two Gods was on another level. Zelus looked like all the blood had been burnt out of him and Cratus... was just a mess of broken body parts. Wherever Nike was, they were sure she had suffered a similarly gruesome fate. Of the three Agents of Zeus they had fought on Olympus, she deserved a horrible death the most.
When they reached the stairs, the real struggle began to arise as they had to traverse through the aftermath of their earlier carnage. Polyphemus' corpse was impossible to move given his size and weight. Because of this, they had to climb up on top of and over the monstrous creature. Aside from the weak spell and the two vines wrapped around Marc, none of them had the strength to use their powers. Nate's arm had been completely dissipated and even his eyes' perpetual soft glow was completely gone. He was breathing however and his heart was still beating steadily, so he was still alive. The walk was still completely quiet, and not because no one had anything to say... but just the opposite. The thoughts rushing through their heads after such an ordeal were absolutely overwhelming. They had gone on several rampages, survived encounters with powerful and dangerous mythical beings, and commited enough crimes that they would be viable for a life sentence each at the least.
When they finally reached the bottom and kicked the corpses out of the way, they went back down into the castle of Hades. The flames that lit the long corridor that led out were still lit, although they seemed brighter now. Maybe it was because Hayden was more interested in the position. Hades had been bored and looking for a way out of the job. Hayden, while he'd been hesitant at first, had quickly grown to enjoy the position. The power he gained was nice, but it wasn't what he enjoyed. He'd always believed in karma being served the way people deserve. Sure, Tartarus would be a little more full with him in charge, but he made sure that people only went where they deserved to. As usual, Asphodel was the most full, but he finally got around to making it better. Houses were being constructed and those in Tartarus who were there for less severe reasons were being let out just to build them. No, they wouldn't be allowed to live within the houses they built, they would be thrown back into the primordial pit once they finished. Every region of his domain would be renovated and made better, but that was a matter for a different day.
Sadly, he could not come with them, so when they got to the throne room, he finally broke the silence, and told them "Sorry, but I have to stay here. Got a lot of work to do down here. Don't worry, though, I've already messaged Charon to come to dock at the gates of the castle once they're opened." Beth looked at the others and they nodded, giving her a few minutes to say goodbye.
She gave Nate to Kenneth, who was mildly uncomfortable because the Aesir's stub was dripping blood again, and turned back to Hayden to say "I... I do not want to leave. When will I see you again?"
"Beth, you'll see me again, and very soon I may add."
She nodded and the two hugged before those who lived in the Mortal Plane turned to leave. Hayden sat back down and got comfortable in his throne once again. Beth turned around to look back at Hayden again and the king of The Underworld nodded to her. She sighed and turned around again as the gates began to slowly open. When they walked out to the dock, they found Charon awaiting them in his boat. The Ferryman of Hades finally gave them a chance to get a good look at him. He had pale skin like Hades and like Hayden's was becoming. It was likely a side effect of spending a lot of time down in Hades. He had long, spindly hair that was as white as the snow that covered the mountains in Midgard. It fell down his back, further than Mikayla's fell down hers. He wore a long dark brown tunic that fell over his legs, making it seems as though instead of taking steps, he floated everywhere anyone could see him move. Despite him constantly rowing his boat the man was incredibly thin. He was seen as a God by many, not a ruler in the Underworld, but nearly as powerful as Hades himself. Wether or not that was true, no one really knew, but they knew he was extremely powerful.
"You all ready to go home?" Beth asked her friends.
"Yeah," Kenneth sighed.
"Entirely! Let's go already!" Mikayla exclaimed impatiently.
"I agree with these two," Eden confirmed "I am ready for a good night of sleep."
They all walked onto the boat and in unison sat down, all completely exhausted. During the walk back, it seemed the excess adrenalin was still pumping through them. Now that they all had anchance to rest, it burned off pretty quickly. During the boat ride, the two Aesir woke up, but Nate was the first to speak.
"Urgh... did... I die?" He groaned while looking up at the strange world around him "This doesn't... look like Helheim."
"No, no, you did not die. We are in Hades," Eden replied as she was sitting the closest to him.
"Ah... well that's a bummer," Nate groaned as he sat up "Wel... how far from home are we?"
"Just relax. We should be there soon," She replied, and with that, the silence returned.
As the boat docked, they all got off, and began to walk through the Fields of Asphodel. During the walk, they could defintiley see the different houses being built. The souls building them all had differing types of scars and marks from their times in tartarus. Even now, they were being whipped by guards to make sure they wouldn't try to run away and get away. The walk through the field, they came to the hill that held the gates to the Mortal Plane. When they walked through, they found Gulltoppr still playing with his Bifrost ball. Eden squealed and ran towards their furry companion to hug him. They all rushed him as well and embraced them in their own way. Eden leapt onto his head and wrapped her arms around his horns. Beth ran to Gulltoppr's side and hugged one of his armored legs. Mikayla walked up to him and rubbed the Asgardian Horned Lion's nose. Nate and Kenneth got onto his saddle and hugged him... while still trying not to fall asleep again. As they all stopped hugging him and got back onto Gulltoppr, they passed out one by one again. Somehow sensing their exhaustion, the lion began to carefully go back to the Haven.
