She was suddenly thrown away by a blast of rotten smoke, which made Beth's eyes burn. As she watched her mother go flying, she saw a black cloud of death form at the edge of the cliff. Athena's back crashed into the wall and she landed on her stomach as the cloud grew. Both mother and daughter looked up to find the rest of the team there, having been transported by Hayden, the newly throned king of Hades.
"Thanks, Hayden!" Nate said as they began to attack Athena "Now let's end this clown!"
Athena scrambled back to her feet as she snarled "Oh, I am going to-"
Eden wrapped roots around her and swung her around to Marc on the other side of the cliff. He punched Athena in the spine to stop her and then grabbed her by the hair. He flipped her over his head and slammed her down onto his chest. He backed up and Athena got up, only to be slashed across the chest with two swords simultaneously by Nate. The attack caused Athena to stumble back and Beth used Gungnir to open a long gash across her face. Athena yelled out in pain and punched her daughter in the chest to knock her back. Just then, Marc, Eden, Hayden, and Mikayla all barraged her with attacks from all sides. Nate and Beth had been the distractions for this new onslaught, and apparently, the plan had worked. Athena looked up at Beth, who grinned at her and put Odin's spear's butt to the ground.
"Fine." Athena turned and clotheslined Eden in the throat, which knocked the small Demigod onto her back.
Athena called the shield Aegis to her left hand and another great sword in her right. Athena swung at Beth's head, but she ducked under the attack, and stabbed at her. Athena used the greatsword to knock Gungnir away and she brought Aegis up to block a swing from Marc's mace. Using this opening, Mikayla wrapped her chains around one of Athena's legs. She pulled her down onto her knees and Eden stepped forward with a sword made of sharpened and thorned roots. She stabbed it just below Athena's rib cage and began pushing it in. Athena grabbed her by the throat and tried to make her stop, but that just gave them another opening. Hayden swung his scythe through the back of Athena's knee and stabbed the tip of his blade into the ground. She fell to her knees and Mikayla wrapped her unused chain around Athena's neck, trying to choke her to death.
"I have had... enough of all of you!" Athena screamed as she sent a massive shockwave out of her body and threw them all off while also healing herself... somehow.
"Yeah, and so are we!" Marc yelled as he dropped down from above and began beating his fists on the back of the Goddess' head.
"Get off." She grabbed him and threw him down to the ground, then pulled her fist back to punch him, but Mikayla's chain wrapped around her arm again "You again?" She pulled Mikayla back into her and kicked her away "However, this may be useful."Athena swung the chain up at the nearest throne and threw it down onto Mikayla!
"Mikey!"
"Shit!"
Marc and Eden lifted the throne, or what was left of it, off of Mikayla. She crawled out and groaned, and at that moment, Athena got in front of them. As the three tried to attack, she struck them all with savage, but pinpoint, and precise blows. They all went flying and in response, Hayden slammed his fist across Athena's jaw. Before he could attack again, Athena grabbed him by the throat and stabbed him between his fifth and sixth right rib. He yelled out in pain, pushed her weapon out of his body, and she threw him away.
"None of you understand!" Athena exclaimed as she rose up into the air.
"Yea, we do!" Eden yelled back as she used roots to bind Athena to the ground.
"What the?" She looked down at the roots and managed to free her arms "Fly!" She summoned a spear and her owl and launched both at the Demigods, but Kenneth cut the spear in half and Nate grabbed the owl, breaking its neck in his grip "No!"
Eden dropped the vines and before Athena could move, Marc appeared in front of her, and slammed his fist into her nose. He wrapped his arms around her and began to squeeze tightly, but she wasn't going to let him crush her without a fight. She wriggled her arms out of his grasp and grabbed his head with both hands. She began to slowly dig her thumbs into his eyes and he yelled out in pain, but still refused to let go. Seeing her friend in pain, Mikayla jumped, and kicked Athena away from him. Marc fell to his knees and held his eyes whereas Athena fell onto her back. She rolled back up to her feet and was about to grab her spear when Eden roundhouse kicked her in the side of the head. She stumbled back and Hayden stepped forward to knee Athena in the stomach. The Goddess continued moving backwards, not noticing how close she was getting to the edge of the cliff. Nate grabbed her, pulled her closer by her throat, and hook punched her in the nose. Beth ran up behind Nate and he turned around while Athena was still recovering from the punch. He knelt down and threw his best friend over his head and swung Gungnir down across her face. They opened yet another long gash, but this wasn;t all the two had in store for her.
"Oh, this is gonna feel... so satisfying," Nate told Athena as he rushed her and swung a hook punch with the Biforst fist across her face which knocked her toward her daughter "Oh, yeah. That's the stuff."
"Nate, quit making this weird!" Beth scolded him as she roundhouse kicked her mother back to him.
"Aw, but you know how much I love bathing in the blood of Gods these days," Nate replied with a smirk as he swung another hook punch across her jaw to throw her to Beth once again.
"Yes, I am perfectly aware," Beth affirmed as she swung Gungnir's pole into the side of her mother's head which sent her stumbling back to Nate "My problem is that you could do it in a less sexual sounding way."
"You know what? Just for saying that-" He stopped abruptly and heel kicked Athena in the ribs to push her further toward the edge of the cliff "How about I just make it even more sexual? Huh?"
"Oh, for the love of... fine!" Beth stabbed her mother through her shoulder and used the barbed tip of the blade to pull Athena back into her "Just make sure it doesn't distract you." She kneed her mother in the stomach and pushed her back.
"Alright, to Hel with this. I need some pay back. You mind?"
"Have at her." Beth let Nate run past her and saw the blood stained grin on his face as he barreled himself toward his prey.
He leapt up into the air and brought both fists down in two simultaneous hammerfists to strike Athena in the back of the head. When he landed, Nate instantly grabbed her ear with his left hand and slammed his Bifrost fist across her jaw. He let her go and hopped up into the air before he roundhouse kicked her across the jaw. When he landed, he used the momentum of the attack to spin, and he side thrust kicked her in the chest. Athena was being backed further and further toward the edge, but she was too focused on the near maddened Demigod barraging her with strikes to take it in. Before she could think about how far the drop would be, Nate grabbed her by the shoulder, and once again hook punched her in the jaw. He looked over the edge, but decided she deserved more punishment.
He looked into her eyes and tilted his head to the side before grinning while telling her "Oh, we'll get to that in a minute... but first." He spun her around and threw her toward Marc, who used Thor's move, and clotheslined her in the stomach to knock her back down to the ground.
"Kenneth, let's do this!"
The son of Hermes nodded and while Athena got up and Marc punched her in the throat, Kenneth ran to join his brother in arms. Kenneth leapt over Marc and side thrust kicked Athena in the chest before landing. Marc spun around, picked up a loose stone off the ground, and slammed it into Athena's head. Surprisingly, it didn't do very much and Athena returned with a viscous phoenix fist hook punch to the throat. Marc stumbled back, but taking advantage of her momentary distraction, Kenneth attacked. He swung a hook punch into the back of Athena's head, which prompted her to turn her attention back to him. When she did, Marc kicked her in the side of the knee, which made her kneel down quickly. He planted his foot on her leg so she could get up and Kenneth uppercutted her in the chin. Before she could fall back, Marc hook punched her in the stomach to make her lurch forward. With the back of her head exposed, Kenneth hopped up, and swung a crushing hammer fist down onto it. Athena had to use one hand to keep herself from falling over completely and Marc finally had enough of her.
"Okay, yeah... I think we're done," He sighed.
"Oh, no we're not, you lazy bastard!" Before anyone could register who had said that, Hayden tackled Athena from the side and pushed her toward the edge of the cliff "You and me now." She got up and they both put up guards, but he could see that the damage she had taken from the fight was starting to take its toll. "Well then, I guess this won't be much of a fight after all." He heel kicked her in the shoulder and made her twist as she fell, which showed her just how close she was to falling "Now tell me? How does the dirt taste after your plan of ascension failed?"
"Oh, do not-" Nate tackled her from the side "Damn it! Where are you all coming from!?" When she got up, instead of the two boys, Mikayla and Eden punched her in the chest simultaneously "Oh, I swear... when I defeat you all, I will make your deaths even worse than-" Beth suddenly threw Hayden's scythe through her leg, which finally immobilized her.
"All of you, give me some space." She walked up to her mother with Hofund in her hand and glared down into Athena's eyes as her friends stood behind them.
"This was our chance, Elizabeth!" Athena yelled at her daughter, the Goddess still stuck sitting on her knees "I could have made every world, divine, demon, and mortal alike so much better. You took that away from me!"
"You say us, but you really only mean you," Beth told her mother, finally having the strength to look her dead in the eye, no fear, no hesitation, nothing but absolute confidence "You were smart, but your choices are why you failed, why you have lost everything. Mom, you killed your own brother!"
"That was not my choice, Elizabeth. He gave me no choice."
"No, there is always a choice."
"Then do not forget, Elizabeth. It was I, who made the choice to grant you your powers and gave you this life."
"Oh, yes, I remember, mother. I know everything you have given me."
"All those years... they were all to mold you into the perfect warrior."
"Well... I will give you one bit of credit." She plunged Hofund through Athena's chest, drenching it in ichor as it tore through her spine and back "You got your wish." She pulled the blade out and let her mother's body fall over the edge until finally, she landed in a pool of water, her golden life blood staining the water a murky, but also somehow shiny, tint of yellow.
