Dark and Stormy Day

The next morning, Beth was knocked out of her bed as the boat began to toss and turn! She sat up, confused as to what was happening. If a storm had been meant to come, Nate would've warned them... unless this wasn't nature, and instead divine. The only God they knew who would attack them like this at the moment would be Poseidon, but why would he attack them? They hadn't done anything to irritate him. Beth didn't have the time to ponder this as she was thrown against the wall again. Luckily, her armor and spear weren't too far away. She dove for them and put her armor on while grabbing her weapon. As she ran out of her room, a wave crashed through the window, and flooded the cabin. She struggled to run to the main deck as she had to stop herself from knocking into everything. The ocean's unrelenting assault made it near impossible to keep her footing. When she got to the main deck, she found Nate already there, seemingly searching for the reason for the storm. His eyes darted this way and that, trying to find anything that would've caused this. Beth's assumption seemed to be correct as Nate was clearly just as confused as she was.
"See anything!?" Beth exclaimed, the wind drowning out a lot of the sound.
"No! Not Poseidon! Not Zeus! Nothing!" He replied.
"I doubt they would actually come to do their own work!" Beth told him "This has to be something- what the hell is that!?" Nate looked in the direction that Beth's gaze was and saw some kind of gigantic humanoid shadow walking slowly over the horizon.
"A Jotun maybe?!" He suggested.
"What Jotun looks like that?!" Beth asked.
"Mountain Jotun!" Nate replied "It's the most humanoid out of the three types!" As the shadow continued to approach, they noticed that... it wasn't a shadow.
The being was as black as night, like the Dark Elves of Alfheim and Nidavelir. It looked like a child's drawing with hands and feet that were just pointed nubs at the ends of its arms. The creature was massive, but they were still far enough away to the point where it didn't seem to see them yet. The creature's strides seemed to be what was causing the crashing tides, but the storm was seemingly still something else. The massive being's only identifying feature were its emotionless, motionless white eyes. They were not glowing, but they were ever visible through the storm. Beth looked over at Nate, who seemed relaxed when they had first noticed it, but now something was different. Now he was frozen to his spot, his Bifrost arm dissipating, and his sword clattered to the floor. The gigantic black monster continued stomping through the waves toward them... or was it? It looked like it wasn't even interested in them as it got closer, but it didn't turn its head to look at them. As it got closer, it seemed to lower itself down into the water. With every step, its body disappeared beneath the waves until only its head was left above. It slowly turned to the ship and peered down at them, its unblinking eyes seemingly staring into their souls.
"Watashi wa osoroshīdesu ka?" It asked, the language foreign to both Demigods, but Nate finally knew what it was, the strange, muffled voice breaking him out of his fearful state.
'Umibozu,' He thought into her head 'Thing's an Umibozu. Only think, don't speak. Say the wrong thing and we're all dead.'
'Okay... then what do I say?' She thought back, neither of them breaking eye contact with it, as they didn't want to act like they meant any disrespect toward the dangerous Yokai.
'There is nothing as fearsome as navigating through the whole world,' He told her mentally 'Say it or we all die... I'll try to tell the others before they get here.'
She nodded and looked up at the gigantic angry spirit, then told it "There is nothing as fearsome as navigating through the whole world."
It seemed unfazed, so Nate repeated it while the others came up to the deck, which caught the Umibozu's attention, so it moved over to them, and asked "San'nin, watashi no shitsumon ni kotaete kudasai. Watashi wa osoroshīdesu ka?"
'Guys, say-'
"Holy shit! It's an Umibozu!" Mikayla exclaimed "I never thought I'd see-"
"Mikayla, no!" Beth exclaimed, but it was already too late "Everyone brace for battle! Mikayla, make this thing move!"
The Umibozu let out a loud shriek of rage and stood back up to its full height. By this point, Nate had turned away, so he wouldn't be frozen with fear again. The waves began to grow more powerful, now that they knew that this would be their final fight before the Nine Realms, they had to brace for the storm. Whatever the Umibozu was doing, it was unlike anything they'd seen before. At this point, they had never had to deal with any real weather based challenges. For the most part, it was always a physical threat like Athena, Zeus' Agents, or Athenian Warriors. Now they were fighting the powers of the Umibozu, while also having to deal with the Yokai itself.
"We can not let this thing beat us down!!" Beth yelled as they all tried their best to keep the boat heading the right way "With Norway so close, all we can do is to keep pushing forth!" She hit the gas and they began powering through the crashing waves at full speed ahead.
Nate was in charge of navigations and tried to find anywhere that there was an even slightly flatter tide. He knew that they had a better chance of being safe if they did that. They could see they had gotten away from the Umibozu... or had they? When Kenneth looked over to find it, he found that it had begun stomping through the waves toward them again! As the waves and rain crashed all around them, all they could do was continue to flee. Mikayla got to the back of the ship and tried to attack the Umibozu. While her attacks did in fact make contact... they did absolutely nothing. It didn't raise its inky black arms to attack, it didn't react to being hit, it just kept coming at them. Mikayla growled and let out a yell as she began to fire blast after blast of magical energy at the enraged spirit. For almost any other being, the amount of power she had thrown would've killed it over ten times over.
"Damn it! This thing should've taken way too much damage to survive by now!" She yelled.
"Mikayla, stop! This thing is already dead. An Umibozu is an angry spirit!" Eden told her "You can not kill that which is already dead!"
"Oh, that would've been good to know!"
'You pissed it off,' Nate reminded her.
"Oh, screw off!" The storm continued raging on as they continued their... very unique battle with the Yokai.
As Beth was steering, Nate put two words into her head, those being 'Beth, left!' She turned and saw a giant jungle island just outside the storm.
"An island! Nate, I have an idea!"
Nate ran up and asked "What is it?"
"Tell Kenneth to grab ropes or harpoons. Literally any that he can find."
"Got them, now what did you have in mind?" he asked, dropping everything they had onto the floor of the cabin.
"I... right, super speed," Beth reminded herself "We have to reel ourselves in."
"What?" Kenneth asked, but when Beth pointed to the island and Hermes' son understood.
As he ran out and told the girls what the plan was, they all got ready for their toughest challenge yet. They would have to aim and fire rope or harpoon they had, and hit every single shot. Mikayla had the power to make sure they were within range, but not enough to make sure they would be able to reel themselves in. Well, wasn't that conveniently unfortunate? Since Mikayla wasn't slowing down the Umibozu, because even if her attacks didn't hurt it, they did stop him for a second at a time, it quickly got to them faster and faster. When it was finally within range, it raised its massive arm, and swung down at them. Beth saw this just in time and swerved out of the way so that the ship wouldn't be too damaged. Unfortunately, the arm came down into the water right next to them. The harpoons were already pulling them toward the island, but the ship began to tip over. Beth did her best to keep it up, but the Umibozu attacked again. This time, its massive arm split the boat in half, but fortunately, everyone was on the same half, even Gulltoppr. Unfortunately, the soaked deck was slippery and it was difficult to keep a hold. Nate's focus on his arm wavered for just a moment, but that was all that was needed. He began to slide down the sloped deck and fell backwards into the raging waters. Everyone watched in horror as he disappeared beneath the waves with a white water splash, but then the Umibozu seemed satisfied with the destruction it had wrought. It began to walk away, with each step it lowered further and further into the water until it too disappeared.
